You cannot deny the kingdom of Hawaii gained its independence in 1843 just like you cannot deny a joint resolution is incapable of annexing an independent state. I'm in a hotel room right now in Kauai, as we love the Islands just like every other tourist and local. But I agree with a FREE HAWAII. I'm appalled and heartbroken how the American government took over. Jan. 17, 1893, Queen Lili`uokalani of the independent kingdom of Hawai`i was overthrown as she was arrested at gunpoint by U.S. Marines. All for money and power. Sickening to see a culture so rich and vibrant with history and culture to become Americanized. Like native American tribes. But what would it look like now? How can a Free Hawaii exist? There's too many rich people invested now for them to give the land they purchased back. Unless... The United States government paid every non Hawaiian land owner the value of their land to move out. But even then. You've got people who have lived here their whole lives and all they know is the islands, but be their not native. Now they have to leave? So it is tricky. Like some comments above recommend, many native Hawaiians get degree's and work this through the legal system. There is a way I'm sure of it. But yes, it's not right the way it is.
