    Just got this knife. Loved your review on it. I can say this. 1. Beyond sharp for out of the box..but no surprise there. 2. Super lightweight. 3. Not surprised due to JM knows his edge weapons and from the looks of this his boys have learned alot as well.

    Beautiful knife, incredibly innovative, price was I feared but for what it is…. Yeah I get it!…a little more on the designer/collectable end of the scale, not detracting from it function. What I would love to see is an updated Otanashi noh Ken in 154CM or other steels. Thanks for sharing!

      I agree. I don't think people actually use these knives and they are more collector knives. I like my otonashi but I wish it had a wave, in addition to updated steel

    I was able to snag a used integral titanium “SZF 001” version a few years after they were sold out of stock. If it helps anyone, I took it apart for cleaning and it was very easy. I was worried it would have loose IKBS, but they were caged bearings. Cheers 👍

    Tuya makes a CF integral I think (big belly)

      Thanks, just took a look at Stassa's review of that one. You're right, it is CF integral, however, the Williams knife was announced a bit earlier and is of Spectral Carbon Fiber. Wasn't aware of the Tuya. Great info! 🗡️👍🗡️

    Great review thanks as always Dave. They are doing amazing things with composites. Look at the prosthetics they can do now. The ones for sprinters are incredible. I think that a company or individual could make a carbonfiber now that could be used as a blade. Not saying a card board cutting machine but a lot better then what is available now. Last ditch few cuts kind of thing but actual cuts not the tearing mess that you get from stuff available. Would just be a lot of experiments type of cloth, which weave,, which resin (the big one). Ratio of each used and the best curing schedule (temp and time just like steel). Anyway thanks again Dave.

    Amazing knife, do you still have it? I heard over the forums that the lockbar wears out overtime making the lock kind of unsafe. What was your experience with it? I found a good deal but I wouldn't want a tactical folder with an unsafe lock ...

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It has a hardened steel insert, same as any other framelock, so is replaceable if it wears out. And, it's been tested for 100K openings and closings to test the strength of the spectral carbon fiber lock bar, so I can't imagine who is wearing it out. 🤔 It's purpose is as an extreme lightweight tactical and EDC folder, not fidget toy or hard use tool, so improper use might lessen it's life. Mine is holding up just fine. 👍🗡️👍

      @@OGBladeReviews that's awesome news. Idk I ran across some forums where some guy complained about the locking bar getting shorter over time. Seems pretty random I know...I Just wanted to make sure because I'm on a buying rampage because I like these japanese inspired designs so much, ...carrying the SZM003 from TRC Knives in V4E right now which is just amazing but as you know these little fellows from WBD burn pretty deep holes in the pockets real quick so I can't afford to miss the shot haha

      I read that same blade forums string and what the person said was that he received the knife with the lock bar too short in returned it for one that worked well. So that was a manufacturing issue on one knife. If you buy one and it's defective for any reason it's always good to send it right back. Otherwise I have found the function and strength to be quite good!

    I believe the Tuya Big Belly was a CF integral in its initial form, not sure if it was before this or after. Hopefully they got the M390 at the proper HRC instead of the soft 58 to59 that typically comes out of Italy. Beautiful knife!

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      My take on the steel hardness for this m390 blade is that the style of blade is purposed primarily as a sticker. Daily use of the edge and required hardness for EDC tasks is moot. Italian m390 in other blade styles, if 58 or 59 might be a waste of steel, so I get the argument. I think a softer HRC works for this configuration since it has a very fine point which I wouldn't like to see snapped off particularly in a moment of need... 🗡️✌️👊

      @@OGBladeReviews very true, I noticed on the link you provided they state it's between 60 and 61 so sounds good. I also realized this is probably different than the Big Belly as that was a crossbar lock knife, not a frame lock, so this probably is the first of it's kind. I'm not typically a Lionsteel fan but I'm really drawn to this design for some reason so might have to take a chance with it. Thanks Dave!
