After much consideration, Devin is probably the only person in the world who could tell me to buy something because he likes it, and I would, without question.
I know, right? Not only is he one of the most creative and talented people I've seen, he's also a tone and production master (or should I say monster?).
Devin has gifted us something special here. Us mere mortals who grew up listening to all of his music can now attempt to get lost in our own waves of sound. Beautiful!
I Absolutely loved this one, it's what I was looking for, a past chamber, reverb, delay and looper together, excellent, good job all of you, gonna get it now.
I’ve been a guitarist for nearly 49 years but with the addition of the MOM, plus a moog synth I’ve become an ambient (artist?) as well. If you’re considering buying one but think it might be somewhat inundating; thrust me, it’s very well thought out and therefore it’s relatively easy to learn. Sound wise, the sky is the limit so it’s an endlessly fun tool for sound creation. No, I’m not being paid. I just really like it.
I've been looking at a lot of delay pedals recently, there's a huge number out there nowadays, but for me, this one looks like the one to have. If the sound quality is good enough for Devin then that sets the bar pretty high. It looks like it's going to be very versatile in terms of the scope of sounds it can produce and having MIDI control, full stereo and line-level capabilities is awesome. Fingers crossed that the price will be affordable as suggested. Can't wait :-)
Devin Townsend deserves a musical place alongside Phil Spector (but without the nasty Phil Spector crime). His musicianship and production is so signature.
Hi there, nice review! I'm interested in this device but I don't know if it locks/syncs the looper and the delays to an external master tempo midi source in my case a Singular Sound BeatBuddy and if it does, could I bypass that midi tempo to another device (a TC- Helicon Voicelice 3) via the midi thru output? I read the manual but did'nt find the answer. Can you tell me something about it? Thanks in advance. Cheers from Portugal.
Just in case you are into DAW and recording you may want to try a bit by yourself using your DAW's options. As he said, for the "basic" delay ambience a serial setup of delay > reverb > delay will make it. Sounds too easy but after my first try with Cubase plugs I am pretty amazed! Not saying it reproduced the box but -hey- in your DAW you are quite free and you can try many stuff additionally with no bucks! I got rather directly a brilliant sounding long tailed ambience revdelay which let me play few nice new ideas in a second! Though I want that box! 😀
I've been doing so much production in DAW, but I already have a collection of hardware synths that I want to play more with and it's just pain to plug everything to PC and modulate with mouse the effects you want. Now this is probably what I've been searching for and the fact that it has MIDI exponentialy increases its potential. Delay lives and dies with synchronization.
I gotta have one of these pedals-the coolest delay effects I have seen. For years I have been running a couple of delays and reverbs and flangers to get spacey sounds. This pedal would really make things much less complicated than trying to fine tune several pedals at once and also make it much much cheaper.
Thank u for the great demo n putting this pedal out there for us at such a great price I was gonna get the tc electronic xf delay but I just changed my mind!!!!
The output sound in this thing may die on you after a couple of years. Mine just did and now I am discovering how many others have had the same issue, with no solutions in sight or any replies from Mooer 'support' team. Be warned.
Mine as well. It’s a shame. And the firmware is abandonware after one or two updates shortly after the release. It serves as a brick. Not buying anything from mooer again
Very cool this video, especially when you open that door, I like the way you go from a dark and decadent place to a wonderful studio full of instruments❤ And the Joe Satriani’s mood...fantastic!
I was already pretty much sold from what I knew already, but the ambient / noise stuff he showed really put it over the top. Terrified of what the price may wind up being because I just can't break the bank on something like this. For now, I've set aside a few hundred for it, and will cross my fingers that they can deliver on what he said about affordability.
I've been hearing that the pedal will cost around $250-300, which is honestly pretty good considering all the pedal can do. Hopefully those rumours are true!
Devin said it would be affordable for pretty much anyone but sadly $250-$300 is not affordable for me at this time. :( II hope it will be cheaper but I'm not holding my breath knowing all that it does.
Does the ocean machine have a preamp, meaning can I run my guitar straight through the ocean machine to an enclosure? Thanks fir any help you folks can give. I’m most appreciative.
Devin mentions putting it up on a stand or table. I also imagine using it like this. Is there a way to have a foot-switch control the looper so this is easier?
With the Trail function in "off" (truebypass mode), does it give a little fuss? Is this caused by the conversion of signals when triggered the effects key?
From the Bat-Shit maestro himself. Just bought this and does everything I could hope for. Been a fan since SYL-SYL and Punky Bruster. He needs to make a vocal pedal counterpart to this.
Yep this is the pedal for me....exactly what I need... looking at other reverb/delay pedals they totally boring compared to this :) .... and there's a looper
The order of effects is so important in creating sounds. Reverb doesn't have to come at the end. Why not have your modulations after the delays and reverbs? Use the same effect twice. Experimentation is the route to creativity. No effects is nice too.
I am actually considering this pedal. My original plan is to buy an EHX Deluxe Memory Man, Strymon Timeline, and Strymon Big Sky. That's a lot of money. This Ocean Machine pedal fits to what I play, is very cost effective, and it doesn't sound like a cheap pedal. It does sound very good although the crazy sounds isn't my cup of tea. The bottom line is I'm buying it! Well done Mooer! Keep it up.
Better get what you've planned don't slip over by the Ocean Machine wait a bit and see what the other people think of it,it's the new gear's baby diseases thing.I would go for the Timeline, already have BigSky and two more delays so I am in delay and reverb heaven for shure. This Mooer pedal is not bad but how about build sound quality? What you hear is a sound sent trough a good amps and then processed on a PC.
Whoa, super cool sounds. It would be nice to hear the more basic sounds of this pedal to. For example, just a simple reverb when you play in a rock band. If the subtile stuff is great to, I will buy it. How is this thing powerd?
I usually stick to TC Electronic (the majority) and MXR (a few) with True Bypass and I know True Bypass and Buffers are debated but from my experience pedals with Buffers like Boss Pedals ruin my tone. I think it also depends on the music you are playing though, anyway for me True Bypass has worked wonders and lets me have a lot of pedals while still retaining my amp's punch and power. I can't find any info if this is true bypass or not but damn I really want it.
Amazing pedal! But when shall that so awaited midi clock sync firmware update be released? Come on! That would be so simple for you to do and so many people would benefit from it!!
I was seriously considering buying this but there are an awful lot of reviews which say that it either fails or freezes after limited use. Just can't risk it so will have to look elsewhere.
I just had to watch it several times over. Have just bought the pedal (very cool) but had to find what else he had in that lineup. its as follows for those who like me were interested. Yellow Comp, Blues Mood, Solo, and Tricopter. L6 mk1 switcher a Wahter. Macro power S12 and I cant find a Mooer pedal rack!
Is it possible to set the tempo manually and not via the tap function? It is very difficult to set the tempo to a specific value, for example 120 bpm, using the tap function ... Manual setting would be a great help in setting the Delay. Could it be changed in the software to display the tempo in bpm and not in ms?
Pressing this button will create a freeze... doesn't freeze..... actually no pressing this will create a freeze.... doesn't freeze I'm still buying one
OK, so I've been trying to figure out what the other 4 pedals are that he's using by matching them to Mooer's website and I'd welcome people's opinions. From Dev's left, I think they're the Trelicopter Optical Tremolo, Solo Distortion, Green Mile Overdrive and Yellow Comp Optical.
After much consideration, Devin is probably the only person in the world who could tell me to buy something because he likes it, and I would, without question.
I know, right? Not only is he one of the most creative and talented people I've seen, he's also a tone and production master (or should I say monster?).
Im gonna lock myself away for days and days with this thing.
Amazing. Also, had no idea Devy were in all of none of all of those films!
Can't wait to have one of these and chill out on holiday, camping out in a massive empty field with my portable setup and this Mooooer :)
Yes, but you need more 'oo' its actually spelled Moooooer! XD
S-PRO Gaming Cheers :P
Yes, but its Chinese product....

Same and I got it and love it
@@ricardojmestre does this still work?
@@TARAS_K yes, working just fine!
Can't wait. I'll definitely be buying this. Atmospheric metal is something I've wanted to do since discovering this crazy bastard.

Love it. Can't wait to give it a go. Great work all involved.
That drifty drone stuff with the clean guitar over the top in the intro you could see as a pedal all by itself and I'd be sold.
Mine arrived today, brand spanky new. Heaven.
I seriously want this, hope it's out soon
Waiting patiently! It sounds terrific.
Wow, this pedal is sick, a must have for ambient guitarists

It's just what I need. Glad to see this happening!!
This looks and sounds awesome
You're wrong Devy! you starred in the film, "Shoot 'Em Up" playing ZEN on the TV!
Lol I'm glad someone else caught that
i forgot about that.
Apparently, he got the part by shoving a carrot up his pooper.
Definitely need this in my life.
Got one already. Happy !
does this still work?
It's a thing of beauty
It is. Also, nice Oddworld Logo
Your profile reminds me of Joe Satriani's Surfing With The Alien. That's cool
Devin Townsend deserves a musical place alongside Phil Spector (but without the nasty Phil Spector crime). His musicianship and production is so signature.
11:50 I do this shit for hours. God bless noise!
How did you settings can you remember?
Really a dreambox. Hope they're gonna hold the word and make it affordable!
Way outside the box as Devin always is :) I'm really look'n forward to play'n around with one of these for sure!
This turned into a no-brainer for me the moment he said 'tap-tempo'. Let's hope this thing doesn't cost too much because I'm getting this!!
Fantastic...gonna get me one of these!!! Atmosphere in a box!!
I wish I could afford one of these now, Ive a few ideas partially mapped out and this would bring the sound in my head to life.
Me's loves Desvin Towensened!
LOVING that blonde MB 4x12 cab! Beautiful.
Going to have to buy one of these, going to use it with fretless bass.
I am in love with that guitar!

I could live in that room for a few days happily
really great machine. Great sounds!

That's cool if you're recording but I think this is more for a live guitar pedalboard

Mooer,
Please add midi clock sync to this device, it's the only thing missing.
Thank you.

And the Joe Satriani’s mood...fantastic!
Can you redesign it so the turning knobs are 1.5 m high? Then I wont have to bend down. ;-)
Very cool idea. Thank you for your determination.
Wow, what a sound!!
Very interesting thanks for sharing 👍
Sweet pedal of the gods, givest thou to me and bless me with your endless reverbian goodness.
I'm sold!
Getting one with my next paycheck :)
Can we please have a firmware update with switching, midi and patch elements to which have been much requested?
I was already pretty much sold from what I knew already, but the ambient / noise stuff he showed really put it over the top.

Kwyjibo2006 yeah, that sounds OK if accurate
Found this online.
www.osiamo.com/Mooer-Ocean-Machine
$300
Does Bill Frisell have one of these yet?
This pedal is sounding just as extraordinary as Devin’s music, definitely need to have one

that guitar is fuckin beautiful.talk about an ergonomic guitar design gone right
Yep this is the pedal for me....exactly what I need... looking at other reverb/delay pedals they totally boring compared to this :) .... and there's a looper
Take all my money. I want this baby.
Thanks for thinking in mortal people!
Ok. So this is the final one and only pedal that I think gets ME.
Anyone know if there’s going to be a revised version coming out to help with the hiccups?
This is so inspiring

there has been a software update that should fix most of this
Why not make clickless switches? Like Lovepedal
Hola amigos, alguien me dice, que marca es la guitarra que aparece en este vídeo?? Gracias
I just had to watch it several times over. Have just bought the pedal (very cool) but had to find what else he had in that lineup. its as follows for those who like me were interested. is ocean machine still working? I heard that they break often
@@TARAS_K absolutely! Interesting pedal massive real estate on a pedal board though. Great to sit and fiddle with.
The main question is whether this thing can outshine the space echo from boss/roland or not.
40 people liked the pretty, blinking lights and then realized this is a guitar gear vid.
When are you doing a Tender Octaver Pro demo?? I´m waiting for it! :D
lets face it, I see Devin, I click like. Full stop.
Me wants this... my precious
I want one!!!
Amazing!
Awesome!
can this device also be used with a nylon guitar with a built in amplifier?

my god.. how did u guys know the video link?? cause this is the private video till now..
What is the settings he uses on 11:23 ?? Thats awesome.
beautyful guitar
Thank you for this -> 14:48
I bet Devy loves Windy & Carl, the reverb masters.
Pressing this button will create a freeze... doesn't freeze..... actually no pressing this will create a freeze.... doesn't freeze
I'm still buying one
How do you set it up with one amp
Too bad Mooer just abandoned that pedal updates. It had some really nice features just needi g some tweak…
devin is god, I can't wait to get this cause I am a mark and can't get enough devin
This is what heaven sounds like.

spithray don't think he has a green mile pedal on that particular board bro. not 100% but don't think that green pedal is a green mile
Tbf, that's the one I was least sure about.
The pre amp modelers are a game changer..
