I feel like Merlin has a long game plan in motion and is essentially making sure everyone stay on schedule. Therefore, conveniently for the writer, she could be sitting on key items until the right moment to ensure her endgame goes as planned.
Ban's sacred treasure seems to be ideal for group fights rather than single hand to hand. Since the opponent was a single person it wasnt going to change nearly as much as if he was fighting multiple people

Merlin Didnt know the extent of his powerup yet and figured He wouldnt be able to pull its maximum potential yet when fighting the demon king so it wouldn't stack the fight in away to his favor, After the fight is over ofc she realizes he could potentially pull its maximum now and the indura showing up, make it rain babies, was the perfect opportunity to see what he can do with it.
Merlin purposefully hid Ban's sacred treasure because she knew that on all the sins, Ban was the most capable of taking her down in a 1v1 fight, knowing that Ban got a power of immortality in which is freaking useless to fight with. Even with all the attack magic of Merlin, Ban will just brush it off like it was nothing, unless restriction spell will take part and will make Ban immobilize. When the time comes and Merlin knows that they stood no chance against the Demon King on Meliodas' body, that's the time she handed Ban's sacred treasure to help them in fight. Merlin did trick the Gods thousand years ago, I'm sure she can do the same or make precautionary measures if someone/somebody do it to her as well. Merlin could be a pain in the ass if she'd become a villain for some plot twist, like she'd been hypnotized due to her dark magic resistance being disabled, or she did trick the Gods to become a God, herself, etc. What are your thoughts? I get the Author's love for introducing strong characters later, and I do agree that Escanor showing up doing the First part of the show would have made Hendrickson seem like not much of a threat. My only annoyance is how quick the rest of the sins were introduced. It would have made more sense for only some of them to show up and the rest later on, like Escanor.
