Работа бредовая. Пока она второй ряд будет валиком катать, первый подсохнет и шпателем будет сдираться. И всегда будут видны переходы. В этом деле как раз нужно вдвоём работать. Один мажет, второй равняет протягивает. Вот тогда будет результат отличный. А так в одиночку лучше по "старинке" 60 сантиметровым шпателем, не сильно медленнее, но и спешить не нужно.

After the initial tape and mud are applied I use sandable primer to the joints that way you don't catch an edge and it's easier to see the low spots (also lightly tint your last touch up coats with chalk line powder/dust, red or blue, then it's also easier to find the areas that need to be sanded.
I got to the end of the video and realized i needed to stop looking at the butt joint and start looking at the wall. Gods plaster work is amazing.

I used the larger tool she's utilizing here and completed an entire basement in a day with the finishing coat. Minor sanding, and it was ready for paint. Worth the money for Level5Tools!

I do a lot of apartment complex jobs. They never do wide joints like this and i always shake my head. My favorite is when i get the lights burning and I can see every joint down the corridors.
My clients most of the time want their home either partially or fully wallpapered. I have to be honest and tell them most of the times they need their walls plastered (idk what it's called in English) over because once the lights go on it's going to be a nightmare 😅😂

This is a higher level of finish quality than is done on most rental properties and tract homes. I paint new rentals and they just do the bare minimum. The hallways are the worst.

I used to be called swamp thing when I first started finishing, everything would look flawless and I looked like I dove head first into a swimming pool of mud.

I've seen it and done it for texture,it is actually a very efficient way but i'm not sure if it is the way to go for a butt joint, i think i would rather use a mud pan and a 12in taping knife

I think this method looks fast with excellent results. Rolling it on is much faster than with a knife if you have many to do. It also applies an even coat in a full proof way.
The joints were the second best thing in this video.
Do you have to butter the entire wall or just where the screws are?

To everyone criticizing this method, it's perfectly valid. It's usually used in skimcoating existing drywall, but valid regardless.
Well done, you make it look easy but it takes a lot of passes with the mud to get the touch like that! I used to lay it on, pull the skimming blade, then feather the edges. it wasn't until seeing this reel that I ever thought thought to feather the edges first like pulling a trowel. Thanks for the inspiration!

There is an imperfection in the lower-right quadrant, just below the midline. It’s very easy to spot from the side view, but not noticeable when looking straight on at it.

why is it such a wide area?? Don't you just need to tape it and lay down a strip of compound to cover the tape??? This is like two feet wide.

You can see every joint in the right light no matter how they're finished. It's sheetrock, not wetwall plaster.

Do you skim coat the walls ? I used to build houses years ago, sometimes sheetrock would absorb too much paint without a skim coat and sometimes the sheetrock had better quality paper and a complete skim coat wasn’t necessary. My painter now sprays texture on the walls and doesn’t know how to skim coat.
For all the drywall finishing comments: the video is not about drywall finishing.
I've never seen mud applied with a paint roller before, but it makes perfect sense. Learn something new everyday!

For skim coating, rolling on a thinned coat followed by using a squeegee does great.
I have done it on flat ceilings for 20 years. Roll it on heavy, follow with a 12" taped to a pole in the same technique you would by hand.
If you want to waste a lot of time and material this is the Way to go
anything to shorten sanding time, is amazing. This is such a great example of that.
eventually you learn how to keep joints flat, then it is just very light sanding .

I have used a 12 knife on butt joints since I started finishing drywall in the late 80's and have never had any problems.
I fucking love this shit! I miss the feeling of doing a level 5 and the whole wall perfect at the end. it's a wonderful feeling looking at finished project

Now that's how you do drywall seams so you don't see them but I've never seen a trade that pretty 😂
I thought level 5 was to skim coat the entire wall so the texture is the same everywhere. This seems like level 4 to me but I don't work in the industry.

This is a level two at this point. This is the same for all finishes. They need to pass a prior stage in order to arrive at the proceeding stage.
Any halfway decent taper would never use a skim blade in the double coat. You would split with a 10 box on 0 or 1 depending on how your box runs. The skim with a 12 box on 0 or 1 down the middle. The tight skim by hand with the skim blade. Butt joints need to be properly tapers. This on is not

This looks good when wet but I’ve tried this. The mud just shrinks and your still low on both sides of the tape. Ends up taking 3 coats this way with plus3

I used that blade thing to cut wallpaper for this 26 years ago. I then figured that this way of doing it would be more efficient. After all, I had a bunch of kids running around and one of them I still was nursing. 😊
