Self Building Bridges with Honey Blocks

Today we spend a bunch of time working on self building bridges and self building mega staircases. This ended up going far further, and far more incredible than I ever expected! I love Honey Blocks.. They are my favorite.

well... it kinda is. Any redstone builder can confirm that this is not that hard to make. It would, however, be pretty complex (i thinki) if the floor opened up block-by-block with every stair block that is about to emerge. adding walls to the stairs would also make it a million times more complex because you would have to keep the wall from sticking to the honey blocks below the stairs.
edit: it would basically take 10+ hours to make this redstone design PERFECT. if he spent 2 hours on it then it means he did not face that many difficulties.

This could make for an awesome base. Imagine: you come to a stone ruin next to a cliff; out in the distance, atop a tall, stony island (think "suberged mesa"; your height should be roughly half of the mesa's) , a lavish temple, with "no way" to get to it.
You descend into the stone ruins, navigating its winding corridors and odd rooms (basically the stronghold experience, but you could add a lot of flavor), to find a switch in one of the back rooms. You flick it, not really knowing what it does, and BOOM! The wall opens up to the ocean, and out of the waters comes a marble staircase, rising stories into the air! You head up the staircase immediately and, as you climb it, a bridge comes out of the mansion to meet you.
Damn, I might just learn how to redstone just to do this.

Rob Lob check out “hermitcraft rendog” jump in anywhere it’s amazing, a bunch of good Minecrafters ( including Mumbo ) share a world and the builds are incredible, diamonds become currency and they built red stone contraptions to sell different goods in the server, it’s really wild, I think it was mumbo built an elaborate red stone obstacle course that automatically delivered prizes on completion and charged people diamonds to run it.

It's possible to make an actually self-building bridge using cobblestone generators, but in this case a moving bridge is better since you'd have to then destroy the bridge otherwise

It isnt really self building though. It self moving. For self building you would need a cobblestone generation. Which could work but then you would still need a Honey-Slime line with his idea.
Easier would be a Cobblestone generator which moves the stone and then at 14 moves the entire row. Scicraft uses that for self floor building when they dont want any special floor and Cobble is enough.

It would be really cool if you built the vanishing staircase in Sahara to get up to Sahara NOW instead of the bubble elevator and you could somehow use the membership token to activate them and a button or lever to retract them!
