  • In this week's video I dive deep on my all time favorite boat wakeboard, the Hyperlite Murray. ‪@Shaun.Murray‬ has over 25 years of promodels with Hyperlite wakeboards. I believe the current shape dates back to 2016. I've been loving this shape and have been riding it since the 2018 summer season. In this video I break out the key features and capabilities that make it so great. Just to name a few the variable edge, subtle 3 stage and center spine are all key to this board's amazing performance. With all these in mind I think it is the ultimate dad board but really would be great for just about anybody.

Fancy that, I'm also 5'11 175lbs. I'm looking at getting a Murray for my first personal board. I've only ever ridden family members rigid Ronix boards with taller center fins and sharp tri edge ends. Interested in feeling a smoother bottom. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

As a dad just getting into the sport :) Do you think I should get this board or the Slate 2.0? I'm experienced in water skiing, kneeboarding, etc, but I just never got into wakeboarding until now.

I'd go with the Murray personally. It will work great as you get into the sport but also be there for you once you've improved. The State 2.0 has a lot of features geared specifically toward edging such as being asymmetrical, big center fins, lot of bottom channels. For those reasons, I would actually argue the Murray will be more forgiving with chances for edge catches. Since you are already experienced in watersports, I don't think you'll need the edging handicap the State provides and the positive sides of the Murray just make more sense at that point. Price wise, I know the State is less, but there are deals on last years Murray right now that make it competitive price wise.

@@LifetimeShred Thanks so much for the response-it's kind of what I was guessing as well. From what I can see, last year's Murray is the same board, just different graphics. There are some great deals, so I might pull the trigger on one tonight. Thanks, and it's a great video.

@@JeepingNet For sure. For the actual Murray board itself it has been this shape since 2016. It's solid! Can't beat some of the deals out there right now either.
