The idea of making a fishing rod wrapping jig out of a cardboard box isn't a new one, but I think I have a better version than the others I have seen so I wanted to share it with others. I haven't seen a box jig that uses adjustable height blank supports or an adjustable height standalone blank support to be used in conjunction with the box jig. While you don't need a blank to sit level for wrapping a guide onto a blank, it is nice to have a level blank when you do your epoxy finish on your wraps because it helps achieve a more level finish.
You can actually build a rod using this jig or you can use it to repair a rod that needs a guide replaced.
I will do more videos in the future that show projects that can be done using this simple and inexpensive wrapping jig. As I add these videos, I will update this description with links to them.
Here is a video that is the first project completed using this homemade wrapping jig. It is wrapping color trim bands on each section of several 2 piece rods that are all the same color. The colored trim bands make it easy to quickly identify which rod section goes with which grip section. This speeds up the process of reassembling the rods.

I'm just a tightwad LOL! Really, I did this video because I enjoy building fishing rods and a lot of people think you have to run out and buy a $300 rod wrapper to do the thread work. I just wanted to show people you don't have to spend a fortune to get started and see if it is something you enjoy doing.

This is a great idea for those of us that just need to replace a broken guide or want to embellish a rod with some decorative wraps and do it without having to make or buy an expensive set up ! And after the wife bitch’s at you for having to much fish’n junk you can toss it and not feel guilty 👍🏼😄
