  • Today Sarah roasts red peppers from the garden and freeze dries them so she can share how to rehydrate freeze dried food and so she can share her favorite recipe using roasted red peppers....which is Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo. Because Sarah and Kevin are eating Keto, Sarah serves the Alfredo over chicken and roasted cauliflower.

Ajvar, pronounced ai var - eye varr, is the most famous traditional Balkan side dish you dont go into the winter without - it is something we make in 100s of pounds for winter storage, next to saurekraut that could be possibly the winner by the amounts. It is extremly prized goodie. It can be described as red pepper pesto - with the exception that the peppers are ground into a ground beef like consistency. The grilling is best done on the wood burning stove, and cooking of ajvar for a long time on low heat makes the tastiest end product. Oh my, it is a dream!! It is usually, made with garlic, and or eggplant. Spread on a slice of sourdough and feta cheese on top, and also with some smoked pork jerkey - we would eat it for almost every meal, if allowed by adults, or if not we would do it behind their backs, hiding in the root cellar 😂.

I love running my herbs through the freeze dryer and all of my veggies and fruits through the freeze dryer and powdering those up!! I'm only on my 21st batch because I just bought my freeze dryer this year but I'm having a blast! The best powder in my opinion is made from my regular garlic, my elephant garlic, and my green onions. Shch a punch of flavor!! I add some of that powder to my homemade mayonnaise to take it up a notch. Technically it's an aoli 😊 of course adding fresh dill and some pickles makes the perfect condiment for fish! Powdered fruits have also upped my buttercream game!! It's not easy making a gorgeous buttercream with fresh fruit without it breaking. I don't really like using emulsions and colorings & extracts anymore when I have powdered fruits. Honestly the best buttercream on the planet is one that you've made with your freeze-dried strawberries or freeze-dried peaches, bananas or blueberries!
WOW! Harvest Right is a superb company and of course I'm trying all the candies and cakes as well😂

You could also cook your chicken in an Instant Pot instead of the slow cooker/crock pot. It only takes about an hour or so depending on if the chicken is frozen or defrosted. Once again, an excellent video packed with information!

We are a couple hours North of your location, that large pepper variety does really well in our state. We are just getting ready to harvest some any day now. If you haven't tried growing them yet, give them a try. They seem to do much better than other varieties for us. We held about a dozen through the winter last season, and it was worth it. They seem more hardy in the growing season. We plan to over-winter several more of them this fall. We will have to try roasting them and processing them in our freeze dryer like this!

So, I now do the Eat Right 4 Your Type diet. It’s actually a lifestyle that is so much easier than Keto! If you know your blood type, just Google the diet and you will find lots of info on it. There’s also an app which makes grocery shopping a breeze. I feel even better than I did doing Keto and I can eat a much better variety of foods! Best of luck ❤

I thought it was weird, too, but then it occurred to me: *j* is used as an *i* lots of times! I can't remember the history, but it's a pattern I recognize. *Jesus* (j; England), *jesu* (y; Germany), and *isa* (i; the Muslim world) for example. And the Balkans are in the middle of all those places.
My big disappointme t was this: i was watchung a Macedonian grsdmother and grandson making something with ajvarski peppers. I have heard and called Macedonians "massedonians" my whole life, and I'm old! But this grandmother and grandson from there, clearly referred to themselves as "MACK-e-donians"!!!
This doesn't sit well with me. Im 71.5 years old, and I'm not ready to start calling biblically beloved Macedonians, "MACK"! "Hey, 'Mack': get outta the road and move your truck!" That has a completely different connotation here than I bet that it does there. "Johnny Mack"."MACK the Knife"!! So the world is smaller, and i have to change it, but I keep thinking: what about the "Massedonians"? Sigh... ...

You remind me of the Galloping Gourmet who used to show us how awesome things tasted. You gave that look of pure joy. My mouth is watering.

Have you tried the keto noodles recipe by Keto Asian Flavours? They have protein and are really good and easy to make. Don't skip the softening step. ❤❤

I love your cooking videos, especially now that I am keto myself. And great job on the eye makeup! You are really rocking it!
