I just turned 50 and embrace it. But listening to this song took me back to 22-23... ah those were the days! The 90's, Princess Diana was still alive, life still contained hope and wonder. For everyone. xo
I'll 2nd that!! even with more time's that passed us by - presently 2021- I've been listening to a TON of 90s music lately! And don't get me wrong, I love most of the current music - but there's still a TON of great music from the 90s that could still be played to this day, and folks would love it and the new generation of country listeners would be amazed, and be like "omg I am loving this song! Gotta find out who sings it!! Lol If they have decent parents, they only need to ask them & if they were raised right, their parents will immediately be able to answer them! Before my son passed away 7yrs ago, I turned him onto alot of 90s country and he was blown away. His fave was always Garth's- The Thunder Rolls, and mine at the time was Diamond Rio- You're Gone. Damn I never had a single F***ing clue both the stories of those songs would come true in our family. Hardest damn thing I've ever had to learn to do- is to TRY to learn to live without my babyboy. Then wasn't paying much attention last night to my 90s Playlist, when suddenly Mark Wills song- Wish You Were Here played. Damn that one was an Arrow straight thru my heart. I know it's mainly about a cpl, but if you're a grieving mom, you can easily turn almost any love song to be the never-ending love, AND never-ending pain of a parent thats lost a child. There is NO WORSE PAIN. So if you've read this far- send a hello up to Jordan, c/o Heaven, and just remind him not a single second goes by he doesn't occupy our minds. There's a hole in our hearts the size of him...... until the glorious day its our turn to meet our Lord, and I pray with everything in me that ill pass & be able to join my sweet baby and hold him in my arms as longgggg as I want to!!! God Bless Y'all and take it from me- tell your family members EVERYDAY what they mean to you & how very much you love them. Life can turn on a dime, there are no 2nd chances. Once they're gone- thats it- your forever begins the very moment they take their last breath, and lasts til you take your last breath & join them in our Father's beautiful paradise. So make every moment count, and don't take a single second for granted. Not being preachy, just want to save even just one person from the heartbreak we've had to learn to live with. What I'd give for one last hug, where I'd never want to let go of him......and telll him how so very very much I love him, and he was loved , needed & respected by sooo many of his family.....TO HELL with the one that broke him in the cruelest of ways. Her day WILL come! 🤬 Anyway, SORRY, wine, TH-cam & music getting me thinking, then commenting, then telling my life story haha 🤷♀️ Sorry y'all but again bless your hearts if u read all this. Sorry to ramble, and I am NOT DRUNK, just a lil tipsy, hubby's crashed so its just me and the music, and my heart on my sleeve & on occasion, its been known to share a thing or two lmao. But getting my emotions out, on occasion actually helps my healing. So thanks if you read this far! Adios my TH-cam amigos!! Have a blessed Friday!!!! ✌ ❤🤍💙❤🤍💙❤🤍💙❤🤍💙 #jtbneverforgotten #forever21
I don't remember a whole lot of detail from my young childhood, but one thing I remember ever so vividly, is my mother randomly playing this song so loud, dancing and singing through the whole house, getting my sister and I to stop whatever we were doing to join in. Some pretty spectacular brightness through some pretty hard times. She always found a reason to feel so grateful. This song :)
This melody, these lyrics, this woman, and this energy are so irreplaceable!!! Long live 90’s country!!! Thank you @Deana for this feel-good classic! You are incredibly charming!
My mom had this album when I was a kid and she would always play this song and sing along with me on her front porch. Call it strange but I always get a Whiff of Marlboro reds and coffee when I hear this song and it reminds me of all the times on my moms front porch as a kid❤
This is one of my favorite love songs; love of one's self, love between two people and love for another person. It's real, deceptively simple and hopeful. It's literal and metaphorical. It reminds us that there are always ways to rekindle pleasure, connecrion and joy. It's a call to remember who we are by remembering what we did. Dancing/singing in an unfamiliar place is a memory about being carefree and deeply connected. But, it's also about an accessible chance to experience that joy and vibrancy now. It's a beautiful faith in the timelessness and endurance of love and joy in life. Notice the music; the things around us that could bring pure joy and laughter to the moment. Dance anyway; don't be deterred by uncertainty or the amount of time that's passed. You still got it. ❤️
This is what life should be like.. 'The band played songs that we had never heard, but we danced anyway and we never understood the words, we just sang...and danced anyway...'
The 90's Country ladies are irreplaceable... Shania, Jo Dee, Faith, LeAnn, Deana, Martina, Trisha and the Dixie Chicks. We'll never see anything like that again
I agree. I'm a fan of all types of music and loved those ladies growing up. Late 90s I was in hs. I still pull out my CD once in a while and jam out while I cook or clean
JS8700 I totally agree with you. I started listening country music in 1996 when I was new in Canada. Most of these names you mentioned people don't about them. You can add Patty Loveless in your list. Thank you JS
This might be a weird comment but I don't care. This song reminds me of my very best childhood friend, we were together 24/7 since we were babies, then our parents moved to different states. :( It was sad, but we got to see each other every year for a few weeks mostly during the summer, and it was always the highlight of our whole year to see each other. One summer our families met each other at a hotel one night and we stayed at the beach for a week, and it seemed like every time the radio came on this song would play, and we loved it! We'd turn up the volume and sing at the top of our lungs. We probably heard it a million times lol. It brings back so many good memories. Through some bad circumstances in recent years we've lost each other, but I will always have the fondest place in my heart for her. She was honestly like my soul mate, the best friend I've ever had. I miss her ❤
I can’t believe I forgot how much I loved this song! It just popped into my head, this summer evening. The summer air was heavy and sweet! Great song❤️❤️❤️
Still dance I love to dance oh she had a good woman I'm Gary I am country all the way I'm getting back to my roots you know you know there's things I know there's things I don't know there's somethings I wish I knew -
I think this song means . To me this tune captures a summer rich and sweet , filled melodies at every turn . I picture in that quaint , joyful gathering , a small village where the stars seems to dangle in reverse worlds away . Our love was deep and true . Our love was deep and true . Even as unfamiliar songs played , we moved to the rhythm regardless . The lyrics were a mystery , yet we belted them , la la la over and over and swayed to the beat all the same . They claim there's no returning back I'm not convinced join me let's sway together again . Perhaps if I pull you in close , darling we can release these burdens that anchor us we'll find our way back . Brimming with vitality we plunge headfirst like Cinderella , baring out souls . We took to the dance floor to see where it would lead us . We took to the dance floor regardless . We Danced Anyway
Hello 👋 Tiffany. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
This song is for my sister who passed a year and a half ago! Deana Carter was her favorite and she new all the words. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY HOLLY! LOVE YOU!
Here in Melbourne Australia we have a sports and horse racing radio station now called RSN, I used to listen to it as a child in the 90s, and I remember this period of time in 1997 where I'd hear this song on that radio station. I'd wake up in the early hours of the morning and this would be playing. Ironically the radio station did play country music up until around 1988 I believe, then they started doing horse racing every day after that.
I absolutely love this song! It just reminds me of if you could find a time as fine as love can be between you and other person that's the thing I think of
This is one of the decades when country music was so cool. You knew who the artists were and enjoyed their music. Nowadays, country music isn’t country music anymore. They try, but it’s just not the same. 😀.
This song released end of December 1996; primarily airing in 1997 & was the first Country song I loved from very first listening. The song was absolutely perfect for the times & Deana. I'd seen her live performance, where the band sounds weak without some of the Key Instruments (Hawaiian Guitar?) that kept the melody flowing, heard here.
This was me and my high school sweetheart song this song got me through a terrible break up you know when you’re in high school and you think you’ll never fall in love again and you’ll never get over something now I’m 40 years old and I realize you can get through anything still listening in June 2020.
And so we danced and turned back the hands of time, even if only until the music stopped, we still danced! I love you Mike, time can never take that away!
Man, I remember being younger thinking life was hard but Lord looking back, it was SO good. Life is still good but that youthful carelessness is something you never get back. I’m a blessed man to have had the time I did in my first 25 or so years.
Geeked-OutTurtlesFan36 She stuck around. Didn't hear much from her after the success of her first album, but she's been performing ever since and she's occasionally resurfaced with writing credits within the current decade.
The summer air was heavy and sweet You and I on a crowded street There was music everywhere, I can see us there In a happy little foreign town Where the stars hung upside down A half a world away, far far away I remember you were laughung We were so in love, we were so in love And the band played songs we'd never heard But we danced anyway We never understood the words We just sang oh la la la la la la la oh And we danced anyway They say you can't go back, baby I don't believe that Come along with me, come on and dance with me Maybe if I hold you close Baby we could just let go Of these things that tie us down, we'll come back around Do you remember we were laughing We were so in love, we were so in love And the band played songs we'd never heard But we danced anyway We never understood the words We just sang oh la la la la la la la la la oh And we danced anyway
I agree with you that couples can get back together. Because our pastor and his wife got back together in the past. That's a very pretty song with pretty scenes in it.
I’ve loved your music since childhood, luckily most of my childhood was in the 90s. I remember hearing this song the first time on radio and wondering who sang it, it stood out from everything else and brought a smile to my face. Now an adult, my wife with me and love in my heart I’ve always remembered the lyrics and they remind me to appreciate and to make her happy. Thank you for your music!!
This song makes me wanna dance with my best friend!!! La la la la la la la.... We danced anyway I woke up dancing the next morning, I danced from my bedroom to the bathroom. To a shower. Danced to my bedroom. Got dressed. Danced to the kitchen to make breakfast. Ate breakfast. I kept dancing throughout the day.
Since I was little this was always my favorite music video. When I got older and really noticed where this video was shot, it made me love it even more.
Back when music was music. Barefoot. Carefree. Reminds me of my late husband and brother. "We danced anyway..." Blasting this last night, under the snow flurries, in FREAKING Monument Valley!!!!!
She helped me threw a really rough part in my childhood. 13 getting beat and the time I would sing and sing thank you I'm still alive getting ready to hit 32 I remember it like it was yesterday
90's country was great. Still country but with a pop influence. Just what we "hair band" 80's rockers liked if we didn't get on the Seattle grunge bandwagon.
I have downloaded some of my favorite Deanna Carter songs. I hope that you will listen along with me and enjoy her music as much as I do. This first song is one of my very favorites.......
Deana Carter was in salina ks last night and she was awesome. Of course i went to hear her old stuff but her new stuff was just as good. Keep up the good work!
Love her and Mindy mccready and Shania twain they were my favorite country girl singers of all time! 32 now and this was in my teenage years I had their cd xoxo
This song is awesome and fun and to me it has the message saying even if you cant understand what is going on but you are still having fun then it is all good
I'm so glad my dad introduced me to her music. Even tho we don't usually agree, her music is one of those things that just are hard to not listen to...
Hello 👋 Lauren. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
I always loved this song, I'd never seen the original vid as I was always listening to the cd so I'm excited/happy to see that she filmed it in Puerto Rico :) very cool :)
Hello 👋 Dianne. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl

Love song? I thought it was Country.
You know if you could bottle up that feeling of the time when this song came out and the way I felt back then I’d be addicted
This is what life should be like.. 'The band played songs that we had never heard, but we danced anyway and we never understood the words, we just sang...and danced anyway...'
30s not old. At 63 oh how I wish to be 30 again
How am I just now seeing how beautiful she is?! I grew up on this song. I love this song. I’m 35 and still one of my all time faves.
I hadnt heard this in YEARS! God I would have done anything to dance with her once. Love this song!

Yes!!!
Faith got all the attention but Deanna is the real deal . Absolutely beautiful still to this day and the girl can sing .
I still prefer Faith's work before she married McGraw. Her early 90's ('93-94) was the Best!
They're BOTH AWESOME but There are MANY MANY Others Who have Not received much LIMELIGHT!
❤
And all this time later this song can still put a smile on my face and bring back a multitude of memories! I love it.

The summer air was heavy and sweet
You and I on a crowded street
There was music everywhere, I can see us there
In a happy little foreign town
Where the stars hung upside down
A half a world away, far far away
I remember you were laughung
We were so in love, we were so in love
And the band played songs we'd never heard
But we danced anyway
We never understood the words
We just sang oh la la la la la la la oh
And we danced anyway
They say you can't go back, baby I don't believe that
Come along with me, come on and dance with me
Maybe if I hold you close
Baby we could just let go
Of these things that tie us down, we'll come back around
Do you remember we were laughing
We were so in love, we were so in love
And the band played songs we'd never heard
But we danced anyway
We never understood the words
We just sang oh la la la la la la la la la oh
And we danced anyway

Back when music was music. Barefoot. Carefree. Reminds me of my late husband and brother.
"We danced anyway..."
Blasting this last night, under the snow flurries, in FREAKING Monument Valley!!!!!
She helped me threw a really rough part in my childhood. 13 getting beat and the time I would sing and sing thank you I'm still alive getting ready to hit 32 I remember it like it was yesterday
Me too, sexual abuse though, not physical.
90's country was great. Still country but with a pop influence. Just what we "hair band" 80's rockers liked if we didn't get on the Seattle grunge bandwagon.
Omg yassss so accurate
We danced laughing and signing to each other............. And we danced anyway. :)

I love this woman and she's a fellow Tennessee Volunteer.
I had such a crush on this woman when I was 16-18.
What a beauty!
I remember before my mom bought me her album on tape, I recorded the music video on VHS and I wore it out, loved this song.
I'm so glad my dad introduced me to her music. Even tho we don't usually agree, her music is one of those things that just are hard to not listen to...
