It's a little church, but very sweet. It is sad how many ancient churches are no longer used, so it is nice to see one that is 'alive' still. St. Alkelda's in Middleham is an ancient one I've visited, still in use, and also St. Helen's Sheriff Hutton. Both are very atmospheric. And one of the oldest churches I've visited is St. Gregory's Minster near Kirkbymoorside. Unfortunately I did not get to go inside it as it was closed for COVID lockdown. Still, the outside of it had many fascinating and ancient features like a moon calendar, fragments of ancient knotwork crosses in the walls, and a 1000 year old sundial! The people who worship in these venerable churches make the buildings live, and they can surely feel the vibes of the centuries. Thanks for the tour. In the drone footage the land looks very rich round about; and I noticed there is a magnificent tree beside the tower.
Time I visited this church again. I've got a shot of the bells somewhere; I managed to turn up when somebody from this church was there, and just happened to mention I'd been up Hanslope church tower on their open day, not long before. The man at Newton Blossomville church then let me go up the tower.
Hi Roger, that sounds like a great treat. I've never been up the tower at Hanslope but would love to get up there. The tallest steeple in Buckinghamshire I understand.
@@thechurchexplorer I've just checked, and it's their annual open weekend, not just one day. The next one is on Saturday and Sunday, the 15th and 16th July 2023.

@@rogerbradbury9713 do you mean Hanslope?
@@thechurchexplorer Sorry, yes I do.
At what point in history were church porches added? Was this a Victorian era feature? Always wondered.
Not sure
