I also think he could put some glowstone on the upper-mid part inside, so there's a subtle light/glow at night time, mobs don't spawn inside of it, and from a lore perspective, so XD isn't dirt on the inside, lmao. Because he's definitely gonna check. It would look even more stunning with your idea, too!
