Did you see Ott Defoe crush it on a buzzbait and jig? in dirt water covered in gator grass..he swept a 5+ lber on a buzz bait by an old broke down dock and yelled “ how bout that scopers! I think there should be ONE round they’re aloud to use it … a round each angler gets to pick.. to try and make up weight or whatever, that’d be interesting, like a life line type tactic
Never gonna happen because unless you start requiring camera men on boats during practice the electronics companies get no marketing cover unless their stuff is seen being used during actual tv coverage ...

My son fishes college tournaments, and I'd put him up against most of yall , with or without live scope PERIOD , and the other 11 college anglers on his team as well, that's what most of you are missing, live scope hasn't been around long enough for 99% of the young guys to be totally dependent on live scope , now if we want to talk about the High School kids that compete in tournaments, from I'd say this year on , I'd agree with you 100%. I got into a discussion with pro fisherman Jesse Wiggins regarding FFS and how it ruins the tradition of the sport and the purity of the sport. I asked very specific questions, and made some very valid points. He didn’t answer a single one of my questions. He actually deleted our conversation. These pros can’t handle truth and are deathly afraid of getting caught in a moment of honesty regarding FFS. I think we should all protest by not watching any tournaments. Even pro FFS advocates implicitly know it’s not right.
Using technology to their advantage is what pays their bills. They have a financially invested interest in supporting it for themselves and what is in their best interests financially.
I don't watch pro fishing, NASCAR, golf, baseball, football etc... There are people who like to do things and people who like to watch other people do things. I'm definitely the former.

I would agree with you if you were truthful about 250 -300 hp motors, spot lock, power poles, 2d and side scan that i said was bad years ago and you said then it was great. I watched a little bit this morning of the bass master tournament Chris Johnson, which is in the top 10 using Ffs basically said that it was like watching paint dry doesn’t really like it says it takes all the anticipation away of getting a bite, and as he was saying that then Bassmaster went to a commercial
People that don’t think it’s interesting truly aren’t interested in becoming better anglers and that’s why y’all are complaining is because you are getting left in the dust by people that strive to become the best. You can learn sooo much by watching someone use livescope you just have to know wat to look for.
Normally i would agree with you about the bass master coverage being boring watching the backs of fisherman cast out to open water, although today they did a great job showing the livescope feed live as the guy was fishing. It was very entertaining and what bassmaster needs to do if livescope is not going to be regulated
With you. They have done a way better job and it has been exciting to watch the screens. Like sight fishing. Tuned off the live mix yesterday when they didn't show the screens. Bassmaster has adapted.
They had to do something so showing the screen helps but it wasn't that exciting for me. A lot of what they showed I couldn't quite make out with the camera man rocking in the boat. Maybe have a small camera attached above the screen. I still don't think I want to turn on my TV screen just to watch another screen.
I personally like watching it. Learning more about behavior of Bass. I don’t have it because of price, but would love to have it. Yes a buddy of mine got it when it first came out, I went fishing with him & was blown away by it. If you are in tournament fishing, you have to have it if you want to cut a check. I totally agree with that.
Yeah, everyone talking about them having their backs to the camera, pretty sure it’d be hard for the camera man to stand in front of the boat on the water and video.
FFS is going to eliminate rod and tackle sales. All you need is a spinning rod and jighead minnow bait. Why buy anything else? Wins all the tournaments!
The not knowing what was going on down there was always a big part of it, the mystery of fishing for me, the thrill of the hunt so to say, and figuring it out and getting satisfaction from that when you found them and caught some. I could fish all way without catching one and all it would take to make my whole day was one good one at the end of the day. Might make me stay a little longer than i planned when it happens, but thats ok.
The best thing about bass fishing is learning the fill on how to detect a bite. We get to sight fish during the spawn with our natural sight only. FFS is sniper fishing.
Randy, thank you for having the balls to stand up against this garbage. I comment against FFS on most of Ben Millikens videos and I get verbally attacked by these young anglers constantly. Most of them know nothing about how things like weather conditions, water temp, barometric pressure and moon phases play a role in the behavior of these fish, but they're great at throwing an insult at someone who has a different opinion than them. You have an army of anglers out here who support you and we'll keep on fighting to uphold the integrity of the sport that we have so much passion for.

I think state wide banning would be the way to go except most state legislature members where I live vote with corporate donors interest over state residents interest. It will damage fisheries @ an increasing rate as technology & its use grows. This is way bigger than the tournament industry! It's the survival of our fisheries period.

They are also showing spit screen angler- ffs screen. Lure dropping down to the fish , was interesting to watch. Also had commercials for new and improved ffs units. Lol
I don't usually comment, but watch what comes soon. FFS On the bedding fish. Scott Martin just did it on Okeechobee. I've always been against fishing beds , but now the fish don't stand a chance. Water clarity , wind turbulence, and weeds no longer matter. All protection will be gone. Just my 2 cents

I watched over 20 minutes of the 2024 Bassmaster Elite Live Mix at Toledo Bend, LA - Day 2 Just so I could make a comment And it was literally watching the angler head down looking at his graph on his trolling motor "NOT MAKING ANY CAST" for 5 minutes or better just looking for a fish on his Graph to toss his bait to that he saw on hi Live Scope...C'mon man...
I just fished a tournament and had to take ibuprofen halfway through because I was throwing a spinner bait all day without FFS. These pros aren’t even casting!
Been watching the old BassMaster Tournaments from the 70, 80’s and 90’s here on YT instead much more entertaining and enjoyable. Love Bob Cobb miss him as the commentator. Totally agree FFS is destroying the sport!
I recorded the Tournament on my DVR and started to watch the event when they showed one of the Anglers doing exactly what you just described. I stopped and deleted the recording will not record or watch this crap anymore. The only thing I have learned since FFS is that I will never be able to afford it and nor would I ever fish that way. It turns my stomach to see this happening. I also canceled my subscriptions to BASS and Bass Times. I would love to know what Ray Scott would have thought of this and what He would have done about it. Keep up the GOOD FIGHT!!
The hunting side of fish and game got in front of technology very quickly. You can’t use drones to hunt or scout, in Alaska you can’t hunt the same day you fly. Why did they get ahead of it so quickly? Because hunting has always managed efficacy. It if is going to damage the resource, it gets managed. FFS is an underwater drone. It’s hunting the same day you fly. The fishing side needs to catch up.
Hunting and fishing are two different things. I've never heard of catch and release hunting. If "damaging the resource" is the standard, tournaments have killed more fish in the last 50 years than FFS has killed in the last 6. The bigger impact would be banning tournaments, and revising creel limits.
Why do you fish MLF events? When they allow something that you are fighting against. Like forward facing sonar. If it was that important to you. You wouldn’t be participating in there events at all. You would find an organization that doesn’t allow it or start one. Just like everyone else that fights for something they believe in.
Listening to Ike today saying he’s going to retire if he can’t switch over to the “Spotlighting” technique. He also pointed out a few observations about the schools of bass just swimming through the open water and not relating to break lines

Hey Randy, I have 3 grandkids ( ages 13,14 and 16) here in Southern California that all fish a lot. They have caught as big as 200lb tuna as small as 4” bluegill. They fish the Harbor i live in for halibut, spotted bay bass and anything that will bite. I have FFS on my Ranger z520r and have never turned it on when their in my boat. They have never seen it and don’t even know what it is. Keep it up Randy your awesome
No my new boat came with it. I have spent some time trying it out. I have a hard time seeing my lures. I’m A 68 year old retired ex tournament fisherman. I don’t have enough time left on this earth to spend on something I don’t need. And they don’t need it either. Not yet , they haven’t started fishing tournaments. When they do it’s their choice.
Its actually comical guys can bring 2 spinning rods some jig heads and a pack little swimbaits and win the elite series. The days of 100 rods on deck and a locker full of lures are over boys sad.

Absolutely! 👍 There are a ton of good guys, that I love to death, but I can't honestly congratulate them when they have a good finish because they are playing video games. They are SO MUCH better than that, and it just sucks.
It’s killing advertising because I turned it off quickly. A new angler named Milliken was casting 2 ft with ultralight backhanded then glued to his screen. Most of the anglers were doing the same. Heads down getting sonar neck.
I’m not a tournament angler and I choose not to use FFS. I’m not necessarily against it either. I am afraid, however, how it might eventually impact my fishing. I see the tackle industry being adversely affected. The baits I enjoy using will be in less demand. Why make a new crankbait? Not gonna sell. It will eventually have that kind of impact. Also, it’s gonna decimate the crappie population in our lakes. I see it every day. I see boats on the water that the value of the electronics exceed the value of the boat. Guides are scheduling 2 trips per day. 3 clients, plus the guide, that’s 8 limits of crappie in one day out of one boat. Crappie not gonna hold up under that pressure. Just sayin.
Personally, I really enjoyed watching the TB event. All the new learning about bass behavior is remarkable. Things go in cycles, should be a great mixture of patterns next week at Fork if the spawn is on. Can’t wait!
I finally watched some youtube videos of the Elites at Toledo Bend, first time watching since FFS got hold of it. Wow, I see what everyone is always saying about watching tournaments. Holy crap, what a boring way to watch fishing. Watching one of my favorite old school style fisherman Kyle Welcher who usually puts the trolling motor on high and pounds the bank, always moving, and catching, just standing there frustrated having to fish like this. Even at just seeing his back you could read the body language that he was not happy. Afraid they want get rid of it, but have to regulate it way better than they do now. Use in practice maybe, off in tournament, some tournaments allow, other not, something, they have to. When the host are even finally talking about it, maybe it will finally happen.

I don't think viewership matters. Sales of ffs in stores and online matter. I fished a lake in NC all day today and caught (1) 5lber and saw many boats with guys staring at their screens. They probably don't watch tv fishing, but they spend money. Me, I'm using 7" old tech SI.

Someone please explain how spotlighting deer is the same as using sonar to find fish. Shining a bright light in the deer’s eyes and killing it with a gun after legal shooting hours vs. using sonar returns to increase your odds of being able to legally catch and safely release a fish. 🍎 vs 🍊. I want to say something for people to ponder. Pretend for a moment that the major tournament organizations ban FFS For all of the reasons we know are true. Then long time tournament anglers come out of the woodwork praising the decision knowing full well it was bad for the sport from the beginning. All goes back to normal and we get to see exciting fishing that we were used to. Everyone is happy about it. Is it a stretch to say that at that point Randy should be inducted into the Hall of Fame? I mean nobody carries this torch more than Randy. I don’t see it happening but I commend you on the effort. Keep it up. Start a nation wide petition. Branch out from just youtube. Get the attention of people that are not connected to Tournament fishing. Get on your local news and work your way up. Millikan recently had a guest on his show who paid 17 thousand bucks to go fishing with him. When he seen Ben catch his first fish he said “that should be illegal” People are not stupid. Complaining to guys invested it wont get anything done. Go big!
Spot on Randy. The wife and I were watching on Friday and after about 20 minutes (I kept it on to see if something would change), my wife stated " this is boring, I am not learning anything". I did find it funny that one of the "announcers" commented when one of the "scopers" caught a catfish and the announcer said "wow we are learning something, I didn't know catfish suspended like that, so that's good information for all you cat fishermen out there". I have caught catfish on topwater bass baits before. I commented to my wife, "it's sad when I am looking forward to the commercials".
Randy - throw some baits at big bass on the Harris Chain using FFS - they have actually normalized not biting. They have started to figure this out - the bass will be ok.

I 100% agree with you on this live scope BS. After 10 years of fishing tournaments my partner and I hung it up this year. We got tired of constantly contributing to these kids, some still in high school, who catch all of their fish using live scope. It sucked all of the fun out of fishing when we knew going in we most likely weren’t going to finish in the money. These kids know how to fish only a few baits other than a Drop Shot, Little Swim bait or a Damiki Rig. It’s sad, really sad.

Easy fix: You’re complaining about having to watch guys watch a screen, when you are watching them on a screen stop sitting there looking at the television and go out to the lake and fish for yourself. It was disheartening to hear the Bass studio staff state that, with the exception of the Florida event, every Bass Elite tournament this season will be dominated by the FFS guys.
My grass grew 1/32” today and that was more interesting to watch than BassMaster today.

Rookie on Elite in 1st ever Elite tournament was in 3rd after weigh-in yesterday and like you said "hammers" going home. He 100% caught them FFS.

I got into a discussion with pro fisherman Jesse Wiggins regarding FFS and how it ruins the tradition of the sport and the purity of the sport. I asked very specific questions, and made some very valid points. He didn’t answer a single one of my questions. He actually deleted our conversation. These pros can’t handle truth and are deathly afraid of getting caught in a moment of honesty regarding FFS. I think we should all protest by not watching any tournaments. Even pro FFS advocates implicitly know it’s not right.

Using technology to their advantage is what pays their bills. They have a financially invested interest in supporting it for themselves and what is in their best interests financially.
I don't watch pro fishing, NASCAR, golf, baseball, football etc... There are people who like to do things and people who like to watch other people do things. I'm definitely the former.

I watched a little bit this morning of the bass master tournament Chris Johnson, which is in the top 10 using Ffs basically said that it was like watching paint dry doesn’t really like it says it takes all the anticipation away of getting a bite, and as he was saying that then Bassmaster went to a commercial

You can learn sooo much by watching someone use livescope you just have to know wat to look for.
Normally i would agree with you about the bass master coverage being boring watching the backs of fisherman cast out to open water, although today they did a great job showing the livescope feed live as the guy was fishing. It was very entertaining and what bassmaster needs to do if livescope is not going to be regulated
With you. They have done a way better job and it has been exciting to watch the screens. Like sight fishing. Tuned off the live mix yesterday when they didn't show the screens. Bassmaster has adapted.
They had to do something so showing the screen helps but it wasn't that exciting for me. A lot of what they showed I couldn't quite make out with the camera man rocking in the boat. Maybe have a small camera attached above the screen. I still don't think I want to turn on my TV screen just to watch another screen.
I personally like watching it. Learning more about behavior of Bass. I don’t have it because of price, but would love to have it. Yes a buddy of mine got it when it first came out, I went fishing with him & was blown away by it. If you are in tournament fishing, you have to have it if you want to cut a check. I totally agree with that.

The not knowing what was going on down there was always a big part of it, the mystery of fishing for me, the thrill of the hunt so to say, and figuring it out and getting satisfaction from that when you found them and caught some. I could fish all way without catching one and all it would take to make my whole day was one good one at the end of the day. Might make me stay a little longer than i planned when it happens, but thats ok.

Randy, thank you for having the balls to stand up against this garbage. I comment against FFS on most of Ben Millikens videos and I get verbally attacked by these young anglers constantly. Most of them know nothing about how things like weather conditions, water temp, barometric pressure and moon phases play a role in the behavior of these fish, but they're great at throwing an insult at someone who has a different opinion than them. You have an army of anglers out here who support you and we'll keep on fighting to uphold the integrity of the sport that we have so much passion for.

I think state wide banning would be the way to go except most state legislature members where I live vote with corporate donors interest over state residents interest. It will damage fisheries @ an increasing rate as technology & its use grows. This is way bigger than the tournament industry! It's the survival of our fisheries period.

I don't usually comment, but watch what comes soon. FFS On the bedding fish. Scott Martin just did it on Okeechobee. I've always been against fishing beds , but now the fish don't stand a chance. I just fished a tournament and had to take ibuprofen halfway through because I was throwing a spinner bait all day without FFS. These pros aren’t even casting!

I recorded the Tournament on my DVR and started to watch the event when they showed one of the Anglers doing exactly what you just described. I stopped and deleted the recording will not record or watch this crap anymore. The only thing I have learned since FFS is that I will never be able to afford it and nor would I ever fish that way. It turns my stomach to see this happening. I also canceled my subscriptions to BASS and Bass Times. I would love to know what Ray Scott would have thought of this and what He would have done about it. Keep up the GOOD FIGHT!!

The hunting side of fish and game got in front of technology very quickly. You can’t use drones to hunt or scout, in Alaska you can’t hunt the same day you fly. Why did they get ahead of it so quickly? Because hunting has always managed efficacy. It if is going to damage the resource, it gets managed. FFS is an underwater drone. It’s hunting the same day you fly. The fishing side needs to catch up.
Hunting and fishing are two different things. I've never heard of catch and release hunting. If "damaging the resource" is the standard, tournaments have killed more fish in the last 50 years than FFS has killed in the last 6. The bigger impact would be banning tournaments, and revising creel limits.

Why do you fish MLF events? When they allow something that you are fighting against. Like forward facing sonar. If it was that important to you. You wouldn’t be participating in there events at all. You would find an organization that doesn’t allow it or start one. Just like everyone else that fights for something they believe in.

Listening to Ike today saying he’s going to retire if he can’t switch over to the “Spotlighting” technique. He also pointed out a few observations about the schools of bass just swimming through the open water and not relating to break lines

Hey Randy, I have 3 grandkids ( ages 13,14 and 16) here in Southern California that all fish a lot. They have caught as big as 200lb tuna as small as 4” bluegill. They fish the Harbor i live in for halibut, spotted bay bass and anything that will bite. I have FFS on my Ranger z520r and have never turned it on when their in my boat. They have never seen it and don’t even know what it is. Keep it up Randy your awesome

No my new boat came with it. I have spent some time trying it out. I have a hard time seeing my lures. I’m A 68 year old retired ex tournament fisherman. I don’t have enough time left on this earth to spend on something I don’t need. And they don’t need it either. Not yet , they haven’t started fishing tournaments. When they do it’s their choice.

There are a ton of good guys, that I love to death, but I can't honestly congratulate them when they have a good finish because they are playing video games.
They are SO MUCH better than that, and it just sucks.
It’s killing advertising because I turned it off quickly. A new angler named Milliken was casting 2 ft with ultralight backhanded then glued to his screen. Most of the anglers were doing the same. Heads down getting sonar neck.
I’m not a tournament angler and I choose not to use FFS. I’m not necessarily against it either. I am afraid, however, how it might eventually impact my fishing. I see the tackle industry being adversely affected. The baits I enjoy using will be in less demand. Why make a new crankbait? Not gonna sell. It will eventually have that kind of impact. Also, it’s gonna decimate the crappie population in our lakes. I see it every day. I see boats on the water that the value of the electronics exceed the value of the boat. Guides are scheduling 2 trips per day. 3 clients, plus the guide, that’s 8 limits of crappie in one day out of one boat. Crappie not gonna hold up under that pressure. Just sayin.
Personally, I really enjoyed watching the TB event. All the new learning about bass behavior is remarkable. Things go in cycles, should be a great mixture of patterns next week at Fork if the spawn is on. Can’t wait!

I finally watched some youtube videos of the Elites at Toledo Bend, first time watching since FFS got hold of it. Wow, I see what everyone is always saying about watching tournaments. Holy crap, what a boring way to watch fishing. Watching one of my favorite old school style fisherman Kyle Welcher who usually puts the trolling motor on high and pounds the bank, always moving, and catching, just standing there frustrated having to fish like this. Even at just seeing his back you could read the body language that he was not happy. Afraid they want get rid of it, but have to regulate it way better than they do now. Use in practice maybe, off in tournament, some tournaments allow, other not, something, they have to. When the host are even finally talking about it, maybe it will finally happen.
Wait it’s also going to ruin offshore saltwater fishing too

I don't think viewership matters. Sales of ffs in stores and online matter. I fished a lake in NC all day today and caught (1) 5lber and saw many boats with guys staring at their screens. They probably don't watch tv fishing, but they spend money. Me, I'm using 7" old tech SI.

Someone please explain how spotlighting deer is the same as using sonar to find fish. Shining a bright light in the deer’s eyes and killing it with a gun after legal shooting hours vs. using sonar returns to increase your odds of being able to legally catch and safely release a fish. 🍎 vs 🍊. I want to say something for people to ponder. Pretend for a moment that the major tournament organizations ban FFS For all of the reasons we know are true. Then long time tournament anglers come out of the woodwork praising the decision knowing full well it was bad for the sport from the beginning. All goes back to normal and we get to see exciting fishing that we were used to. Everyone is happy about it. Is it a stretch to say that at that point Randy should be inducted into the Hall of Fame? I mean nobody carries this torch more than Randy.
I don’t see it happening but I commend you on the effort. Keep it up. Start a nation wide petition. Branch out from just youtube. Get the attention of people that are not connected to Tournament fishing. Get on your local news and work your way up.

Spot on Randy. The wife and I were watching on Friday and after about 20 minutes (I kept it on to see if something would change), my wife stated " this is boring, I am not learning anything". I did find it funny that one of the "announcers" commented when one of the "scopers" caught a catfish and the announcer said "wow we are learning something, I didn't know catfish suspended like that, so that's good information for all you cat fishermen out there". I have caught catfish on topwater bass baits before. I commented to my wife, "it's sad when I am looking forward to the commercials".

I 100% agree with you on this live scope BS. After 10 years of fishing tournaments my partner and I hung it up this year. We got tired of constantly contributing to these kids, some still in high school, who catch all of their fish using live scope. It sucked all of the fun out of fishing when we knew going in we most likely weren’t going to finish in the money. These kids know how to fish only a few baits other than a Drop Shot, Little Swim bait or a Damiki Rig. It’s sad, really sad.

Watching bass fishing has always been boring. I use FFS and never watched bass fishing ever, I just fish.
Spot lock is just as bad there used to be a skill holding your boat in the wind not anymore spot lock has leveled that out

It was disheartening to hear the Bass studio staff state that, with the exception of the Florida event, every Bass Elite tournament this season will be dominated by the FFS guys.
