The fact that he went right for the hay--and then the water--speaks loads about his confidence. Many horses would be too nervous in a new place to do that right away. And I think he's a perfect size. I call fellows like him "big little horses." They take up plenty of leg, and appear much larger than they actually are when they are moving. And frankly, the smaller horses usually hold up better in the long run.
Matt - PLEASE don't name your beautiful new PRE after a fashion show. Pick a valiant, romantic name such as Babeka (El Cid's horse) or Granada or Angel Mikail. Best to you and Jesse and all your horses.

Could you update us a little about how Sureno is doing, what are your goals with him as we don’t see him a lot lately (I know he was with Alizée Froment for a few months) but now that you have another horse, I was a bit curious on what you plan to do with each of them, they are so beautiful and talented
I believe Sureño is at training to be put on consignment. Matt’s stated that he and Sureño really didn’t click well, so he sent him for training and doesn’t know whether or not they’ll be bringing him back to their agistment stable or if they’ll put him for consignment. With this new horse, I reckon Matt will probably sell Sureño. Three young stallions is difficult to manage for anyone all at once. Plus, having Emporio, this new horse, Sureño, Chase, and Bear is certainly a strain on the wallet.

In that case it is better for the horse too to move to someone who does feel that connection. As long as you don't just "dump" the horse at a sales barn, but find them a really good home there is nothing wrong with that.

I imagine he would have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED a long bit of time alone in a pasture, paddock, arena or such to stretch, move, take a deep breath and just be himself for awhile after more than 3 days of prep and travel - you understand long trips by car or plane... congrats!
In Spain horses generally only see outside when being worked. I have a feeling he will need some time to learn what a paddock is and what to do in one. Letting him out after so soon arriving could really confuse and potentially scare this horse. I know Matt likes his horses to be horses so I’m sure he will soon learn what being a horse is actually like soon enough.

I imagine he would have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED a long bit of time alone in a pasture, paddock, arena or such to stretch, move, take a deep breath and just be himself for awhile after more than 3 days of prep and travel - you understand long trips by car or plane... congrats!
In Spain horses generally only see outside when being worked. I have a feeling he will need some time to learn what a paddock is and what to do in one. Letting him out after so soon arriving could really confuse and potentially scare this horse. I know Matt likes his horses to be horses so I’m sure he will soon learn what being a horse is actually like soon enough.
