Great video! I'm just approaching early retirement and will be implementing the bucket approach. It takes the worry away from market downturns and hopefully avoids those sleepless nights. You explain these concepts so well in your videos. Thanks for doing this!
good video bud, nice to see that you are using realistic pot values. My plan is to have a 1 year buffer in cash, with a further 2 years in money market funds and the remainder invested in the stock market
Thank you for the video! I am still in my forties but already exploring different drawdown scenarios for the future. At the moment, I have something very similar to the 3 bucket portfolio with: - A growth bucket with a core index tracker + a 20% high growth section (tech or similar) - A semi-liquid bucket with a cautious fund (medium term) and an income fund (longer term) - And a liquid bucket with cash and money market funds The idea is to work on 10 year cycles so the growth bucket stays untouched and the other 2 buckets contain almost all the cash I'd need for 10 years eg: if I have a pension pot of £600K and I want to withdraw £32K a year, I'd put £300K growth, £150K semi-liquid and £150K liquid. By year 10, I should still have 1 or 2 years of cash available in case it is not the right time to withdraw money from the growth bucket and start the cycle again. There are also other elements such as an ISA, some premium bonds and the estate pension hopefully kicking-in by the end of the first 10 year cycle. The latter would also produce a nice pay-rise! Is this too simplistic? I'd love to know your views. Cheers and congrats on the channel!
Hi, thanks for the comment but without knowing more about your situation and plans I couldn't say. Also, I can't give specific advice on here. If you do want advice I have a calendly link in the description or you could find a financial adviser/planner local to you. Thanks, hoping to keep it up with the videos but been a bit difficult this time of year!
