I still love his reign but looking back at it, he really was overshadowed a lot especially by Cena and sometimes it was WWEs fault and sometimes it wasn't. Like John Cena vs The Rock is bigger than Punk vs Jericho, also Cena vs Lesnar in his return match is also bigger than Punk vs Jericho. I believe even if he lost he deserved that triple threat with Rock and Cena at WM 29, and it would have made sense since really WWE has focused so much on them since 2011, but at the same time if we had gotten that then we would have never gotten the great match with Undertaker. I don't agree with everything Punk said, i think at times he was wrong but for someone who held your main championship for 434 days, i think he should have been booked a little better.
Most of the time he should've been the main event. Those are some good examples tho. If we're talkin about wm 28 the end of an era should've been main event imo.
Huge CM Punk Fan and he's tile reign wasn't taken seriously by the company they just wanted him to hold it for the Rock and Cena two match and I understand that the Rock and John Cena are bigger stars but CM Punk had all of it to be a top guy but theu didn't believe in him and that sucka still to this day. At the end of the day I love his reign it was enjoyable compare to all the trash champions they have now he was a really good champion.
Never say never. If Punk got that triple threat one could argue he would still be there today. Mightve wrestled Taker down the road as Taker clearly had many more years in him. Idk if you can blame WWE for the booking. They had amazing main event build ups at the time. The best vs the best. A pro wrestling fans dream at the time. They had Cena and Rock bringing old fans back in a perfect way and creating more new casual fans. You can't blame the booking for having such a bloated main event at the time.

Can u imagine. Cm punk vs undertaker WrestleMania 29. Longest title reign in the modern era vs the streak. People would actually be conflicted on who will win since taker is getting up there in age (taker as champ won't be ideal given his age) and punk is white hot after (in this reality) defeating the rock twice on ppv. All signs point to punk winning but people won't believe that the streak will end until they see it. Perfect opportunity to beat the streak imo also considering punk was one of the few opponents smart enough to use the urn vs taker and it's understandable from a lure perspective why taker will lose since not only was the urn used against him but he just recently lost Paul therefore making him as vulnerable as ever. So we have an opportunity to end the streak that makes sense from a lure and logical perspective at the time. Instead we got Brock making taker look like a old pathetic man and Cena vs rock 2 which they could have easily have still done anyways without the title. In this reality u keep punk happy giving him the main event he always wanted and deserved and also extending his title reign (he should lose the title to DB with the emergence of the yes movement either in SummerSlam that year or in WrestleMania 30 (I would say WrestleMania 30)). Taker keeps his integrity even in a lost and you can easily build him up again by having him face someone like Cena or Orton in the next mania then have him feud with punk later down the line once punk loses the belt.
All I will say is that this truly was a factor of my High School Years in the Early 10's, always remember 2011-12 fondly with this reign being apart of it. Even went to WM 28 and being worried he'd lose, was worried all the way up til Summerslam he'd lose and didn't know or believe he'd beat Cena's record which he not only did but by another 50+ Days. Reign wasn't the business move he'd of liked but he really should be grateful for having and carrying the company's main prize for over a year, something so many others have never done before.
Sadly he got the Benoit world champion treatment But it had great things his rivalry with Jericho, with laurinaitis, forshadowing his wedding with Aj Lee being a Paul hey man guy and that awesome entrance with hey man and the debut of the shield

Moments like Cena vs Brock at Extreme Rules, Punk vs Jericho in the Street Fight, Punk vs Bryan at Over the Limit and Money in the Bank, Raw 1000, the build to Punk vs Ryback Hell in a Cell, The debut of the Shield. 2012 will always be my nostalgic year as a wrestling fan.

Seeing this video. Damn. Day 1 of CM Punk's title reign began in Hershey, PA. A show I went to. So watching that PPV the night before and seeing him win the title. I knew the show was gonna be good
I liked his reign because he was (or seemed like) was defending the title on a regular basis which I liked, kind of like a constant stake held. Hate how it ended though.
His feud and matches against Bryan were the best. He should've lost it in a triple threat match at WM29. But then, him vs taker was the match of that mania

The only dissapointing thing about his reign was his calibre of opponents . That kinda made his reign not to be as eventful and legendary as it should have been . Atleast at the beginning of his reign ,he had a good opponent like Chris Jericho . Yes ,he had super matches with Daniel Bryan but Bryan wasnt in the same league as Jericho,Cena and Triple H . Ryback should not have been put in a programme with Punk because that feud was going to be a lose -lose for everyone involved. I think Triple H should have done the right thing and got in a programme with Punk for the title for atleast 2 PPVs beggining at Summerslam with Punk going over clean. I also think he should have gone clean over Cena at Survivor Series 2012 and carried on beating him at TLC as well. Atleast if he had faced these guys , his reign would have felt like a bigger deal since he would have been in the main event .

that TLC match with del rio and miz is one of my favorites idek why. I just remember I found the hand cuff usage very unique especially the way Punk escaped and I remember it being the first TLC match in awhile with legit table crashes from high up.
Best title reign of the modern era without question. Tbh even tho he didn't main event he felt like a huge deal but he should've main evented way more. As a heel with Heyman it kinda fixed that issue. I think a big problem was the lack of big heels at the time.
For some reason it was seeing Stone Cold out there breaking kayfabe somewhat by smiling that just gives me a dopamine drip and puts life in perspective.

Seeing this video. Damn. Day 1 of CM Punk's title reign began in Hershey, PA. A show I went to. So watching that PPV the night before and seeing him win the title. I knew the show was gonna be good

The only dissapointing thing about his reign was his calibre of opponents . That kinda made his reign not to be as eventful and legendary as it should have been .
Atleast at the beginning of his reign ,he had a good opponent like Chris Jericho .
Yes ,he had super matches with Daniel Bryan but Bryan wasnt in the same league as Jericho,Cena and Triple H .
Ryback should not have been put in a programme with Punk because that feud was going to be a lose -lose for everyone involved.
I think Triple H should have done the right thing and got in a programme with Punk for the title for atleast 2 PPVs beggining at Summerslam with Punk going over clean. I also think he should have gone clean over Cena at Survivor Series 2012 and carried on beating him at TLC as well.
Atleast if he had faced these guys , his reign would have felt like a bigger deal since he would have been in the main event .

CM PUNK 434 days as champion was best of the decade.....It really sucks that he didnt got main event at WRESTLEMANIA 2013 as champion instead he buried from ROCK at ROYAL RUMBLE 2013 and later leaves next years ROYAL RUMBLE.

that TLC match with del rio and miz is one of my favorites idek why. I just remember I found the hand cuff usage very unique especially the way Punk escaped and I remember it being the first TLC match in awhile with legit table crashes from high up.

Best title reign of the modern era without question. Tbh even tho he didn't main event he felt like a huge deal but he should've main evented way more. As a heel with Heyman it kinda fixed that issue. I think a big problem was the lack of big heels at the time.
