Thanks for the video(s) - have already watched the real reel. One trivial question, though: what is that rain/sun hat that you are wearing and are you aware how much it makes you look like Gandalf the Grey?? ;-)
:-D I am. And sometimes when I run into other hikers I mumble "You shall not pass!" Truth is: the hat makes me look ridiculous. But I'm at an age (and yes, the desire for continued celebacy helps) where you say: "I can look (slightly more) respectable and either smear oily sun screen on my face and neck, which sweat will help get into my eyes over the next two hours or have the wind drive rain into my face which will run down my neck... Or I put on a 10 dollar, sloppy piece of deformed polyester mix that will prevent all that and scare the bears (plus: it makes the dogs go mad when combined with sun glasses)." As Tolkien said: “Courage will now be your best defence against the storm that is at hand--that and such a hat as I bring.”
Thank you, Father, but when I enter that answer into Google, I will never find out what brand it is and where I can get a hold of one... And ideally within the next week or so, because I might be lucky enough to get to hike later in July. 😎
@@MalteForstat Google seems to be slacking off. Try Bing. ;-) If you want to look ridiculous yourself you need to look for "wide brimmed hiking hat". Not sure mine has a brand name. I just picked it up somewhere. Most outdoor stores carry something like that. But make sure it has two adjustment thingies. The string that you can fasten under your chin most have, but it is good if you also have something to adjust the width of the head circumference. Useful in high winds for a tight fit. You can look at the first few seconds for my GEA hike to know what I mean: th-cam.com/video/zPkkbc4BcTw/w-d-xo.html (there you also see the string flapping that my hat has in the back for adjustment)

21.000 metri di dislivello +??? Vuole dire che ogni giorno facevate una media di 2.500metri, mi sembra assurdo
Assurdo? Come mai? Vero, non è poco. Ma le giornate erano lunghe (44km in media) e non era il mio primo "rodeo". :-) Caminare così (14-16 ore al giorno) non è per tutti. Ma non è assurdo. La tappa più lungha era tra il passo Melogno (ho dormito li vicino) e il Colle di Nava. 50km e oltre 3000m disl+ e 3300m disl- . Era anchora di più in ascesa (3200m) il penultimo giorno ma la giornata era più breve (41km). Difficile a credere? @@Of_Hermits_and_Hogs sisi non metto in dubbio il suo allenamento, ma sembra una cosa esagerata, anche perché la via completa sono 15.000 elev+
@@jurgo87 Questa informazione (che vedo anche come "circa" su wikipedia) è scoretto - o forse è valido per il tratto in bici (o vecchie trace delgi anni 80). Hai visto il link nella mia risposta precedente? Il garmin bascamp lo calcula sulla base dei gpx ufficiali della pagina altaviainfo24 - senza le divergenze che avengono spesso con il live-GPS-tracking in via o una "stimazione" che si trova su Wikip
@@Of_Hermits_and_Hogs bè allora davvero complimenti, anche io sono un gran camminatore in montagna, quindi posso ben capire quanto sia stata impressionante questa traversata, ancora complimenti per l'allenamento, avresti modo di raccontarmi come ti sei organizzato con le provviste? C'era modo di rifornirsi oppure è stato calcolato tutto il cibo alla partenza per 9 giorni?
@@jurgo87 c'erano punti per rifornirsi ma pochi - in particulare perche alcuni posti erano anchora chiusi dopo covid19. A me serviva cibo per 4 giorni in zaino. La tenda era essenziale. Sul dislivello anchora una cosa: ho guardato sul sito del CAI Liguria. Assommando le 43 tappe (il loro "circa") si arriva a 16500m disl+ (mancha la tappa 15 che ho preso dal gpx). Per capire perche c'è una differenza cosi grande tra il gpx dell'Altaviainfo e il "circa" ho guardato la tappa 43 (la mia prima) come esempio. Il CAI da "circa" 600 in salita e "circa" 50 in discesa. Il gpx track da 690 in salita e 147 in discesa. Anche la distanza è diversa. Sono solo 8.7 km sulla mia tracca gpx e 11 km sul sito del CAI (ma forso loro calculano un altro punto ti partenza a Ceparana). Difficile a dire. Il gpx e abbastanza essatto, ma perche anche il gps usa una mappa (con rilievo) come base anche lì ci possone essere errori. Ma fine in fondo: è bella l'Italia e il tratto tra Liguria e il Piemonte un bel posto per passare qualche giornate!

si. Lo so. Non sono molto veloce visto le distanze e dislivelli che faceva per esempio Lorenzo Franco Santin sul Sentiero Italia (e quindi anche sulla AVML). Ma ognuno camina nel suo proprio ritmo.
