  • Friedrickshof was build in 1888 by Emperess Frederich after her husband died. The Emperess was the eldest child of Queen Victoria and the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm -- the last emperor of Germany and Prussia. Emperess Frederich had progressive ideas for Prussia/Germany to be modeled after the British Monarchy. These ideas were not shared by Frederich II her father in law or Otto Von Bismarck the Prussian Chancellor. Friederich II and Otto Von were more nationalistic. Friederich II lived a long life and Friederich III died 99 days into his regin so the plans of the emperess were never realized.
Kaiser Wilhelm was close with Franz Ferdinand of Austria and the assasination of Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo was the blow that lead to WWI. Had the ideas of Emperess Frederich and Emperor Frederich III been realized, the World Wars that shaped the future may not have occurred.
