My question is: How do you know which one is more efficient in terms of storage space and rendering time? I understand that fewer tris equals better performance but that's about it
I used to suck at blender, and now even since I don't use it much, I passively gain the essential knowledge. You saved me many work hours blawg, you earned a sub.
I do got to say if for those making it for games that is way too many polygons for a basket asset. Probably be better to just find a pattern on Substance Painter and make the holes with an Opacity layer
you could also just use the high poly mesh of the basket in texturing, bake the high poly basket onto the low poly basket and make sure to include opacity mapping.
Just recently discovered these shorts and I love them. Not just for the blender insight they have, but because I spent 5 minutes laughing at the noob artist using his keyboard like a drumset
For games, it's better to just model a simple box and cover it in transparent basket textures. Basically just the second example shown in the video but with transparent textures instead of a model. Don't want the game's memory and performance to go Berserk from having to load in so many basket grates.
I didn’t understand any of that did you make that model and then make the entire basket or whatever it is? Did you make it and then use it on it sorry I’m not understanding any of that.
Then there's the gamedev way: simple basket geometry with a woven texture, call it a day and move on to the next asset because you still have 500 more to make.
Holy fucking shit that poly count lol you could just use a plane with an alpha channeled texture and achieve a very similar effect. Unless this is meant to be the main basket you stare at indefinitely
i dont know what they were doing, but this format never gets old
😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥
These are smartly made tutorials to make some things in 3d animation easier to learn.
Basket

Thanks. A lot glad to have you here
The pro bucket has so many polygons it would instantly burn my headset if it would be ported into VRC
😂😅😅

Yeah you about right. The higher number of faces or triangles. the more information required for storage and bigger file size. Vice versa
What a great add-on, thank you!

That's sick as F@$#
I prefer using textures than using 5 million vertices.

It depends what is your 3d model for. If you want to 3D print it, adding textures is useless
Came here to comment this lmao. Holy mother of polygons.

No.
Unless you're making some kind of physics symulation, just making the damn UV model is more efficient and effective.

baking normals says hello
I didn’t understand any of that did you make that model and then make the entire basket or whatever it is? Did you make it and then use it on it sorry I’m not understanding any of that.
You make a pattern. And a blocked out shape that is desired. Then you use the tissue addon to repeat the pattern all over the blocked out shape.
Using texture and normal map is a lot better than any of that
Yeah that’s a way of doing it
Well first is good for plastic bucket, second for braided
