British Expat here. I live here. Been eating with my Uruguayan family for more than 20 years. I love the bbq's here. We never have tripe, intestines and kidney fat! 😂 We do like our meat medium rare and I'm with a big Uruguayan family! Bit misleading We have Uruguayan serloin, rump etc and the lots of chorizo. Only my Uruguayan mother in law has the chicken. Asado or ribs not so much. More bone and fat than meat. Bife de ancho and corazón de cuadril is a family favourite here cooked on the wood burning bbq especially at Christmas time
I love chivito and Uruguay has the best grass fed beef. You should go to Montevideo to “Mercado del Puerto” to try parrillada there. Great video , Thanks for visiting my country. You could put sugar to the mate
That cut of rib (tira de asado) is not to be eaten with your hands like the rib cuts of the US. The fat can be rough in that cut, so you use a knife and fork (like in the rest) to eat it. And after that, you can clean the bone using your hands. And a like riñón but hate chinchulín (they are an acquired taste to say the least) sadly you couldn't taste molleja; that is also common and we eat it with a lot of lemon juice.
I am Uruguayan. Have been in the US 21 years. I never ate any of the insides of the cow except for chinchulines and I love them. Chorizo is the best and even better as Choripan. Chivito comes in many different ways. It is not lamb it is beef and no we don't eat it for breakfast. Breakfast is mate, capuchino, etc, with some crackers or biscochos, and it is the smallest meal of the day. Mate is more of an aquired taste. We drink it from childhood, so we get used to it. What you all a canister is just a termo (thermus). I'm glad you enjoyed the tinny town of Carmelo.
Uruguayans usually like their meat "al punto" which means "on point". But you can always ask them to cook it the way you like. Medium rare would be "Jugoso" pronounced Hoogozo, which means Juicy. Good luck from downunder 🇦🇺🇺🇾🇦🇺🇺🇾
nice video bro. Can't believe you didnt like "chinchulin". I think you need to try it somewhere else before you make a final call whether you like it or not ;-), it has to be cooked right and eaten while its hot, once it cools down its basically "no bueno" to eat. With some good fresh white bread it is awesome, same as "molleja". Maybe the parrillada you went wasnt that good hehe. The same with the "chivito" you ate, didnt look good to me, the best ones are in the capital city. I'm from the "interior" as well, but sorry fellow people from the interior, I never had a good chivito outside of Mdeo. hehe I'll get hate mail for this.for.sure.
For the *"Chivito"* they gave you, they should have included cutlery. Since the chivito is made with beef, *it makes it ugly to tear the meat with your teeth* 😅. Many eat the goat with their hands (it's up to each person) but if you order a complete Chivito, they must give you cutlery since the quantity of ingredients comes out when you pull the meat with teeth. Also the Chivito bread, they gave you a similar one that is made from hamburgers 😅... Still I hope you enjoyed it ❤❤❤
I was in Uruguay in early 2023 with my family. They will never forget how good the food and meat was especially the chorizo.
Uruguay is the best country in South America, I hope to visit it one day
greetings from Uruguay
It's definitely underrated! I had a great experience!

Hey there, do you know the story of Lord Ponsonby? He was a Brit involved in the foundation of Uruguay, he should be a national hero if you ask me lol

That's the goal! Appreciate you watching!
My friend, I am uruguayan and I don't like chinchulines and kidneys. It's nice to see people from other countries visit us. Thank you for your visit.
Love the red stone house
Uruguay #1 🤩
Chivito is not lamb... It's red meat from loin, the best part of the cow

Chinchulines are delicius, again it may be a little weird for people that are not use to but after a few times mama mia !!

Im uruguaian and i never been in Carmelo 😆😆😆😆
I love chinchulines!!!!
Funny how the tourists eat the chivitos with their hands like a burger.
Locally we always use cutlery 😅
