Thanks to Andy for giving us a close up. Leave it to Stephanie to attract the best people who are so generous. Giving Stephanie the VIP tour makes us all feel like VIPs.
Watching this took me back to the seventies when I worked at the Chelsea Hospital as an agency nurse. The army run hospital was very regimented and strict and the lovely old soldiers seemed to me to have a very grim, sterile and boring environment in which to end their days.Being young, non army and from NZ, I decided to take in morning tea and to play some old records on the ancient gramophone I had found at the back of a store cupboard. Everything was going well until my Battle of Somme boys started singing their dirty ditties from the war and dancing unsteadily with me. In short, I was sacked, the men staged a protest against my dismissal and the nursing Major lost control of the men. I worked my three days notice and left with sadness and a bottle of Chloé perfume as a gift from the soldiers who I still remember with great fondness. It was worth getting the sack to give them a morning of fun and joy. Thanks for jogging my memories!
Bernice, what a lovely story, joyously bringing some fun into their sterile lives as you say. They were young men once too. I almost cried and smiled too,
How wonderful that Andy spotted on you and was able to get you filming inside with the presenters and designers! This channel’s community absolutely coming through for one another! At my job we try to pull strings for one another and we’d call this a “surprise and delight” or “making some magic”
What makes it more delightful is Andy is simply someone like myself whom enjoys watching and chatting like we not necessarily know the people on here but feel we could sit around the kitchen table and not think or be seen as a mad fan. It was lovely to see steph if I may call u that invite Andy to sit and join.
Well done you! I have to say, we watched Gardener's World when they visited Chelsea and they show some gardens and a lot of it is just the presenters talking but you never feel like you've had a good look at what's there. Stephanie the way you and Davy have talked about what materials were used, talked to the designers and pointed out details that were lovely or inspiring, was so well done! I loved the gardens you chose too, and thank you to your wonderful friendly fan who helped you get in!! Yes a waterfall even a small one would be grand! Maybe tied into the lake as it would be a natural way to introduce oxygen into the water.
“The minute we know something we change our behavior completely.” Statements like this are why Stephanie’s interview subjects open to her and to us her audience so completely. Her genuine interest helps people share their passions with abandon and love, and we are the beneficiaries.
Love that quote too and agree. It is similar to "When I knew better, I did better" If only everyone changed with knowledge of a better way of doing things, all the people of the world would benefit from the changes.
Stephanie you are such a class act 🎬 👏🏻 with such fluent, informative presentation skills I was enthralled. To see two of my favourite worlds converge is a dream come true, thank you. I will rematch on my TV to relive the fantastic gardens 🥀🌷🌳🌴🪴
This is a wonderful video showing the beauty of the Chelsea gardens in London as well as the scintillating personality and innate beauty of Stephanie-- the heartbeat personified of her glorious Chateau in France. Her kindness shines in all she does and, in spite of my old age and physical being, I am able to float all around with her and enjoy her amazing life. I wanted to mention that Davy is a Josh Groban doppleganger and must also have the singer's amazing creative spirit.
I'm shocked Davey doesn't like the sound of rain on a roof...Maybe it's a cultural difference, but here in Australia nothing sounds better than rain on a tin roof...Plus planting plants in the rain, you get much better survival rates. But then again it would be because of our Climate here in Australia. In saying that we have so far had a very, very wet year, with floods this year. But I still love the rain, because drought is very, very depressing also.
I thought this was going to be another English garden thing. It is so much more. I have been glued to the TV since the show started!! I will probably re-watch it several times. But I do wish Dan had been there too.
Oh my I loved this. I live in the United States. I am from Florida but have been living in the state of Alabama in the northeastern part for the past 33 years. It is one of my dreams to go Chelsea. 😍 Oh my and Monty... He is like fine wine just gets better and better with time. I love hearing the stories behind the gardens. Wonderful video. God bless 😊
Bloody hell my perfect Venn diagram of everything I love - Chateau Diaries/RHS Chelsea Flower Show /Gardens/Plants and a brief glimpse of Monty Don! Life complete ❤️xxx
Hi Stephine I have been watching you since lookdown and loved every minute of it ,I visited the flower show on Thursday love, love love, your views of the gardens Thank you God bless
I loved The Perennial Garden with Love, surprised it only got a Silver Medal, loved the Poetry. 'If I had a flower for every time I thought of you I would be walking in my garden for ever'.
It's amazing how sometimes things just happen. Imagine being in lockdown and watching this channel to then meet Stephanie and the gang to THEN possibly working at the chateau. Wow
Wow wow wow! This was amazing! I love Gardners World and you saw Monty Don!! I call him the “ sexy Gardner!” Stephanie you are an amazing presenter and your interviews with the garden designers were superb! So great to see Cat! She’s always a ray of sunshine! Thank you for this amazing treat!
I recently received a post card from La Lande and it's magnificent! Not only the artwork but a scent was added which thoroughly transports me to the chateau! I love that addition immensely! Thank you so much Stephanie!
You are such a darling Stephanie, I can see why so many fall under your charms. Greetings and Salutations from Western New York , USA. I have enjoyed watching and liking about ten video's this week and peeking in at Chateau de Lalande. xx And now you have taken us to a flower show. I love flower gardens but something I truly love is a secret garden.
I loved this video! I have been a silent fan since video diary one… I am also a super fan of horticulture. This video combined two of my favourite things; it was so resplendent and lovely. Big thanks to all of you for your continued radiance!☺️ I hope you all enjoyed Chelsea and your trip - I had to live vicariously through you this year!
Thank you so much for treating us to the Chelsea Flower Show! What absolutely incredible gardens and designs! We have a big property that gets overgrown with weeds. Plus, due to the earthquakes 10 years ago here in Christchurch, the water tabel rose and the ground sank, so we have flooding several times a year which makes it kinda hard to make the back yard into what we would like: a permaculture garden that provides all our veges and lots of fruit. We make do, though, and our vege plots thrived this summer! I was very inspired by this vlog, which I need to be, because I'm not a natural-born passionate gardener. Who knows what might happen! Love Jacqueline from New Zealand xox
This episode is absolutely brilliant, thank you Stephanie for such a fantastic, informative and exciting view of Chelsea Garden show. I was also very happy to see the ‘7th’ invite joining the la Lande group!😅 Your interviews surpass any broadcasters’ and how privileged we were being able to view the inside of the gardens because of your Chateau Diaries fame!! The flowers and garden designs were absolutely gorgeous and I’ll be watching this video many times after. ❤️🌹🌺🌷🌸🌻🌼🌿
I am team Waterfall, and hope you get a Orangey or Pavillion at Lalande also. I love spaces to retreat to in the rain or too hot sun, and have meals near the Lake. Love that Cat is there and is as spiky as usual. I love all of Davey's plans for Lalande. 😉❤🌺🌹🥂
I'm definately team waterfall as well. Personally unless in a tropical zone, I prefer a softer waterfall broken up into levels, more along thr Japanese aesthetic and adjacent to woodland if possible. There's something so poetic about a waterfall with acers, rhododendron, azaleas and tufts of grasses and stones that I find so soothing and beautiful allnyear round. It's a pity David hates all pine. For me a forest just isn't really a forest at all without them and thr crunch of pineneedles undefoot and especially the glorious scent in the air, and they do so much in winter to keep landscapes green and inviting. I also really like the Japanese styles of pruning evergreens including pines for garden areas conjuring up woodland spirits in the shade. The tall junipers like guardians, and all the glorious stone pines are absolutely essential to the beauty of the Italian countyside so dear to me, and together with the wild rosmary and herbs it what creates that incredible soothing perfume in the air. But I love various mosses too, unlike many gardeners. They are part of the magic and scent of the Nordic woodland lanscape. Something else: if they plan on having fish for household needs at Lalandr again, designing dams beteen levels that act as waterfalls but designed specifically with fish in mind can create perfect conditions for them. The tastiest fish usually need a connecting area with a current.
Have you seen Stephanie the Garden you and Davy loved so much the Perennial Garden by Richard Miers won the Peoples Choice their favourite show garden!it is really beautiful and my favourite too!
Stephanie your wonderful channel has its blessings coming through. Those who have been touched by your vlogs are now finding you and opening up great opportunities for content. I love this episode. Thank you for sharing with us.
Oh! Oh! Oh! I've had to add th Chelsea Flower Show to my 'bucket' list! I do love a waterfall the sound and the ions they produce is soothing and invigorating. But I love the nettle garden. The idea of the reclaiming is a very hopeful thing.. Thank you for taking us along! And Stephanie, love your shoes!
Being disabled, I can’t get around places easily, so when you do videos like this in gardens, chateaux, museums etc I really get to enjoy it like I wouldn’t otherwise. You ask all of the right questions and show things from far enough to see the full effect, to close enough to see every detail. Thank you for this video and ones like it!
This was one of my very favorite Chateau Diaries vlogs! Private tours of the amazing gardens! How lucky are we to get to go along? There were all just fabulous!
Being a very experienced (cos I'm old!) and keen gardener, I really loved this great video of your trip to Chelsea 2022. I confess that I enjoyed it even more than the daily TV programmes ... but... ssshhhh... don't tell the BBC! Stephanie - did you know that The Perennial Garden 'With Love' designed by Richard Miers which you enjoyed so much won the RHS People's Choice Award? Thank you for sharing your lovely day with us - and thank you, Phillip, for some superb and sensitively observant camera work throughout. One of your best. 😘
Its going to make such a beautiful difference in how everything looks. I think I'd be planting everything everywhere if I lived there as theres nothing more exciting then seeing each and every plant bring life to a home.
What a truly brilliant vlog! Getting detailed insights into the gardens is so fascinating. Yes you need a waterfall at Lalande!! Great to see you enjoying it all too - and possibly converting Kat to gardening!! Xx
Thank you for this incredible vlog . You brought it alive and your enthusiasm is contagious, and we were all mesmerized by beautiful landscapes. you bring such joy to each of us following along . Davey and Kat too, such wonderful friends of LA LANDE sharing in the day at Chelsea Garden Show . Could listen and watch more from this event as those of us gardeners scattered a round the globe were slightly envious of you.Stephanie you bring joy and laughter and happiness with these vlogs ..
Another blisteringly brilliant film …. Oh my goodness I’m so grateful for Stephanie and Philip, Kat and Dan… thank you for taking us to the Chelsea Flower Show, a much more real experience than the tv coverage. Also thanks to your contributors and all those involved in the production of these beautiful gardens and sculptures 🍃
What a spectacular day the three of you had. Kat and Davy, in those gorgeous gardens..... for an entire day! Wow. Lucky girl...Okay, okay, so you were working more than playing. I can honestly say I certainly appreciate all of the hard work you put into your videos. It really shows. Your dedication and hard work really does come through in the quality of vlogs videos. Thank you. Seriously, thank you so much! Kat... Davy..... It was a real treat to see your smiling faces, no matter how brief. 🧐 I'm going to guess that you purchased the garden loveseat.....or some form of garden seating. One can never have enough garden furniture. Each seating area provides a different and unique perspective of the foliage, grounds, topography, and the structures. I'm always moving garden furniture around to fully appreciate the gardens from spring through winter from different vantage points. I would imagine Davy might let you add a few pom pom pine trees. Their structure draws you near to appreciate their undeniable beauty and playfulness. The French Blue Scotch Pine has to be my favorite for its color and needle density. Admittedly they do require some pruning to maintain their shape, less than Espalier though. You only need one per garden to make a statement. They're one of the few trees to be admire year round. They always look gorgeous no matter the weather or season. Coral bark maples (Sango-kaku) are another must have for year round beauty. The "Fairy Hair" mapl is another beautiful tree I haven't seen at La Lande. It's a delicate looking lace like feature tree. I was lucky enough to aquire a forty-eight year old Fairy Hair that had been saved from the gounds of a manor house being stripped to make way for a new housing estate. Ensuring it survived was stressful, but so worth it. If you do decide to incorporate a waterfall magnify it's impact by adding a river rock lined meandering stream fed by the waterfall. The stream would be virtually maintenance free and will not require a second pump. The water flowing over the waterfall is gravity fed down the stream to a screen and rock covered small reservoir. A pump in the reservoir sends water back up to the waterfall. The biggest mistake most encountered is making their stream too shallow. Resulting in warm causing algae bloom, discoloration, and rapid evaporation. The other issue is rapid sedimentation due to decaying vegetation that's fallen into the water. You will always have some sedimentation. However with a shallow stream you'll end up having to pull all of the river rocks out, scoop up the sediment, and place the rocks back in every few years,as opposed to every decade or more. Although tempting, do not lay the pipe under the stream for two reasons: difficult to repair and more likely to freeze, requiring repairs. These principles apply to ponds as well. You do not want to rip up a pond just to fix a split pipe or fouled up pump in the middle. Situate the pump on the side and use flexible freeze resistant hose pipe to feed water to a fountain in the middle. Filters and filter maintenance is key to water quality and clarity, as well as minimizing algae growth on the stones and clogging up your fountain heads. Of course Davy will know all of the aforementioned. I felt compelled to inform anyone who reading this who are thinking of taking on such a project themselves. Cheers!
Thank you for taking us on this tour Stephanie and Davy. As someone who lives in Asia, the only time I see a glimpse of this show is when the Queen and family visit it at the start. It really is quite fantastic. I agree with Davy, I don't like pine trees. They are what are planted after a natural forest has been destroyed by lumber companies because they are cheap and fast growing. Plus if they are part of your lawn and not close to the forest, the pine needles are difficult to clean up. Even more, their seeds spread easily and thus grow easily. Plant hardwoods and decorative trees.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful. How wonderful to run into Andy and those who gave the tours, their hospitality was really amazing. The garden for lovers by Richard is stunning!!! The plantings were wonderful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing. 🌷🦋🤗
I use to exhibit and erect large stands for Interflora at Chelsea, now retired but miss going and being involved. I aways use to go on press day, not so many people and wnen exhibiting you got to stay in an see the queen and many of the Royal family. I think after 50years as a florist I now enjoy watching it on telly.,also your interesting u tube videos.
How wonderful Stephanie! Thank so much to have brought us along. As an American I've always heard about The Chelsea Flower show; but had never saw any of the gardens. To be able to go with you, Kat (one of my favorites out of your friends), Davey; and Philip was sensational! LOVE you guy's! ❤
A stunning Vlog. It was wonderful to go right into the three gardens that you were invited into. Also to hear in detail about each one. Thank you so much. ❤️🌱🌺🌿
Stephanie, you give us so much more than a DIY project, an historic reference, a contemporary experience. You give us a life style, a dream, real options to live our best lives!
Beautiful gardens! I love the William Morris garden. Tell Davy I call him a pine hater. You know there are some cultures that consider the pine tree sacred and believe the spirits of their deceased ancestors dwell in them.
I love pine trees but they are rather destructive in the garden. I had one that the previous owner planted too close to the house foundation (and the gutters). Constantly dealing with pine needles that killed all the plants and grass nearby. I loved to look out at it from the south kitchen window (icicles, snow, dewdrops and spider webs in the sun! heavenly!), enjoy the partial shade, and watch the birds. But it choked out everything around it and ruined the walk, roof, gutters and foundation. Grew like mad. Sadly it had to go. Now I have a huge lavender bed in its place - no shade but does smell divine. Glad you focused on the animal sculptures - one of my favorite artists.
Such a great video!! Thank you for taking us along, I would love to be able to go one day. The William Morris garden was beautiful! Everyone was so interesting to hear as well. Davy better not visit Canada if he doesn't like coniferous trees because in some parts that's all we have for miles and miles lol. Haha how can you not like them they are amazing 🌲
Love the ideas that this generated for everyone viewing some were ok that i would tweak between the displays but all were hardwork of lovely ideas. The hardwork at the chateau with Davies ideas will look smashing
Excellent. The amount of thought that goes into every facet of the show gardens is astounding, and it’s only possible to understand it all with a tour from the designer. Brilliant.
Fantastic video Stephanie. Kudos to you for embracing Davey’s vision. Your fingers will turn green before you know it. The Richard Miers garden is fabulous ( minus the pines, which I hate also!). Thrilled to be following your journey.
Literally cannot articulate my thoughts on this truly wonderful vlog. Steph, been with you from the start(diy) and always said you should have a tv job. 🌱💕🌿🦋🌾🐞
Oh my Stephanie, thank you for sharing!!! What a gift to share the world!!! This is amazing!!! I have so many, dreams, will have to trust God. So many ideas!!!
The last garden was absolutely stunning, all the details were so carefully thought out, it was so beautiful. A waterfall and the sound it makes is absolutely a great addition to any garden! Thank you for sharing this awesome outing you had!
It was so wonderful to see part of the Chelsea Garden Show while I stood washing my dishes 8n South Africa. Thank you for taking us along for the journey!!
Here in GA, USA, and many other parts of the US, there are pines, firs, and evergreens of all kinds! We wouldn't know what to do without them. We have to import black currants simply because, it endangered the pine business. They smell incredible. There's a reason pine candles are very popular. lol I'm one of those many who've been watching since the start of lockdown. We can never say enough how the chateau and everyone who comes and goes really got us through some tough times. Each of the gardens we got to look deeper into are completely awe inspiring! I love the sustainable and future planning. The intimacy of the romance garden. The sound of rain and water everywhere is heaven! The design, team work and generosity are blooming as much as the flowers. 💚
I bet within some years she will be enjoying gardening as much as we fond gardeners do. Nothing more relaxing and healthy as being and working in a beautifull garden.
What a lovely day. The designers know their stuff and so friendly, I love the repurposing garden, very inspirational.Great brolly usage Daley and Phillips camera work too.
Oh yess. That’s something like what I need to visit too. It’s funny that we do our Jardins simultaneously you at your Chateau me at my Maison. Merci for all the inspiration chère Stephanie 🫶🏻
I absolutely enjoyed the industrial garden area! That gentleman was sooooo interesting to listen to! I’m going to plan a trip to the UK for Chelsea Garden time! Thank you for the glimpse!
Thank you for taking us to the Chelsea flower show very interesting and stunning, it was amazing and lovely to see kat joining you .🤗 I bet you got plenty of ideas for Lalanda x🌼🌼🥰😊🤗🥂cheers all.😃
Thank you so much Stephanie I’ve got some ideas now for my tiny garden. The garden design are spectacular. And I love the design of your garden by the church .
Oh Stephanie this vlog was superb! I can’t believe how much I learned about the gardens. You put the BBC coverage to shame! Thank you! I absolutely loved it x
Thanks Davey for motivating Stephanie to organise this excursion. It was amazing, and really interesting to hear your comments. Love how you and Stephanie work together with your mutual respect.
Wow! I have always wanted to go to the Chelsea Flower Show, it is absolutely gorgeous! Lovely to see Cat, she is looking great! You are so lucky to have Davy planning the LaLande gardens. Thanks🙏🏻❤️
Thanks to Andy for giving us a close up. Leave it to Stephanie to attract the best people who are so generous. Giving Stephanie the VIP tour makes us all feel like VIPs.

Both perfect quotes to describe The Chateau Diaries 🐝

👋Hey there! Now that you’ve posted a comment you have to do more!
@@carolz5090 Hi Carol! I will be sure to.

I love the back stories behind the gardens.
Well this was so much more entertaining than any of the Chelsea Flower Show programmes that have been on TV! Stephanie you are a great presenter.🌟
Have you seen Stephanie the Garden you and Davy loved so much the Perennial Garden by Richard Miers won the Peoples Choice their favourite show garden!it is really beautiful and my favourite too!
Those gardens are just stunning, great ideas saw some flowers I have never heard of that are just beautiful. Great to see Kat again.
The gardens were amazing. I loved the wall at the end with the waterfall. You must have a waterfall Stephanie.
Delightful! Loved your references to Alice in Wonderland! Really enjoyed your conversations with the designers and the insider's personal tours! 💐🌻🌺🌼
Stephanie your wonderful channel has its blessings coming through. Those who have been touched by your vlogs are now finding you and opening up great opportunities for content. I love this episode. Thank you for sharing with us.
The Royal National and the William Morris gardens were just magical!!! Such a wonderful trip you had...I'm glad you brought us all along!!❤️❤️❤️
Stephanie i was thinking 'watership down' with the bunny sculptures.
Beautiful gardens and so many new ideas for Lalande. 😊❤
Oh! Oh!
Fascinating! Great to hear the designers talk about their gardens so passionately .. so inspiring xx
What a truly brilliant vlog! Getting detailed insights into the gardens is so fascinating. Yes you need a waterfall at Lalande!! Great to see you enjoying it all too - and possibly converting Kat to gardening!! Xx
Davy’s plans sound fabulous! So far, so wonderful!
Thank you for taking us to the flower show!! It's wonderful! Love from Vermont
Another stunning and informative vlog. One day at Chelsea is not enough. Thank you Steph 🌳🍀🌾
I'm going to guess that you purchased the garden loveseat.....or some form of garden seating.
I agree with you.
What a great day out guys.Such beautiful gardens at Chelsea flower show . Loved this video Stephanie thank you. Love to u all lisa xx ❤️😘
I was in HEAVEN the entire time I viewed this episode. Anxious to see what's coming to LaLand
Beautiful gardens! I love the William Morris garden. Tell Davy I call him a pine hater. You know there are some cultures that consider the pine tree sacred and believe the spirits of their deceased ancestors dwell in them.
This is a BRILLIANT episode, love it! Thank you! 🇦🇺
What a wonderful treat to explore the show gardens, would love to go one day so glad it has filled u with inspiration for la lande x
Great piece on Chelsea, thankyou! Knocks Gardeners world out of the box... xx
Love the ideas that this generated for everyone viewing some were ok that i would tweak between the displays but all were hardwork of lovely ideas.
The hardwork at the chateau with Davies ideas will look smashing
I love pine trees! They make the landscape look whimsical and the forest look magical. Stephanie wins!
Excellent Chelsea footage Steph! Secretly enjoying it more than the BBC😉. Really love the drama of the waterfall. Planting is stunning
That was amazing .
I want a water fall as well 🙌
Thank you Stephanie .. ❤️
You got the grand tour! Very informative!
Literally cannot articulate my thoughts on this truly wonderful vlog.
Steph, been with you from the start(diy) and always said you should have a tv job. 🌱💕🌿🦋🌾🐞
I can foresee you'll be presenting a program for a TV channel at next year's show!
Oh my Stephanie, thank you for sharing!!! What a gift to share the world!!! This is amazing!!! I have so many, dreams, will have to trust God. So many ideas!!!
Marvellous, the floral adventures of Chateau La Lande and the exceptionally talented friends within the Chelsea Show. A real garden 🪴 eye opener 🌺
The last garden was absolutely stunning, all the details were so carefully thought out, it was so beautiful. A waterfall and the sound it makes is absolutely a great addition to any garden! Thank you for sharing this awesome outing you had!
Perhaps the falls can be by the water mill once she gets to doing that later on.
@@jomeyer13 Great idea, another project that I cannot wait to see unfold :)
How fabulous was this . So enjoyed seeing all the plants at Chelsea and your great presentation x
Another fantastic vlog. Learned a lot and loved to see Stephanie’s reaction. Hugs, Keri💜
It was so wonderful to see part of the Chelsea Garden Show while I stood washing my dishes 8n South Africa. Thank you for taking us along for the journey!!
Oh wow! Thank you for taking us with you because it was fantastic to see all that creativity! That statue at 6:16 took my breath away. Very cool.
Here in GA, USA, and many other parts of the US, there are pines, firs, and evergreens of all kinds! We wouldn't know what to do without them. We have to import black currants simply because, it endangered the pine business. They smell incredible. There's a reason pine candles are very popular. lol
I'm one of those many who've been watching since the start of lockdown.
Also Thank you Andy for letting us all see these beautiful gardens!
I bet within some years she will be enjoying gardening as much as we fond gardeners do. Nothing more relaxing and healthy as being and working in a beautifull garden.
Wow this just gets better and better... thank you for a wonderful episode(?) Stephanie
What a lovely day. The designers know their stuff and so friendly, I love the repurposing garden, very inspirational.Great brolly usage Daley and Phillips camera work too.

Oh Stephanie this vlog was superb! I can’t believe how much I learned about the gardens. You put the BBC coverage to shame! Thank you! I absolutely loved it x
Exactly my thoughts! It’s not an easy task to convey information and enthusiasm at this level ❤️
Thanks Davey for motivating Stephanie to organise this excursion. It was amazing, and really interesting to hear your comments. Love how you and Stephanie work together with your mutual respect.
THE WILLIAM MORRIS garden is a definite Lalande look. OH SO EXCITING XX
