🎨 Forget the rules! This 15-minute abstract mixed media challenge is all about freeing your creativity and letting go of overthinking. 🌟 What’s your favorite way to loosen up your art practice? Let me know below. 🥰
Rules? What are they? haha! Another beautiful piece. ❤ Are you able to do art as your work? I hope one day that I am well enough to be able to create art as a 'living', rather than having to claim benefits. I don't miss working, as after 3 decades of working full time I was so utterly burnt out when I became disabled, but I do miss a daily focus of something I 'need' to do.....if that makes sense? Seeing your videos makes me feel so relaxed and inspired, you're a star ⭐
@ haha! Rules are merely guidelines. 😬 Maybe you could start a daily sketchbook project to keep your focus. I am not a full time artist…yet. In my day job I’m a portrait photographer so it’s still creative. Luckily for me, my business affords me the time for my art practice. I love our TH-cam community and sharing my work with you all has brought so much into my life. Thanks for watching!😍
I love taking my scrap papers from printing and painting and eco-dyeing, and glueing them randomly onto a piece of A4 or A3, then seeing how they ‘speak’ to me… The last collage ended up as 20 gift cards!!! Thank you for your videos ❤❤
Good morning Trina…I think this turned out…very moody. You swung from putting in many different colors (which I loved)…to obliterating many of them, then bringing some back. The touch of white gave the whole piece light. I would say that “you having not such a great day” showed with the amount of black marks that you made…more than usual, but that is what art is all about, expressing our internal selves. I hope you have a better day and week. Looking forward to getting some time to watch more of your videos. 😊
My mood absolutely showed in this piece. Dreary days do that to me. Haha! I like to work my way though those days with creating. Thanks so much Katerina. 😍
Stunning! I went to the studio today and tried to not make anything and I succeeded on that endeavor. I feel like my mojo is gone…I just want to feel a bit of the confidence that was going on earlier in the year… the waves of grief are a definite set back: I’m trying to be gentle on myself but it’s hard when you are goal oriented…sorry for whining ….don’t know where to turn right now…
It's okay to be gentle on yourself, and sometimes taking a break from your art is what you need. You will get back to it when it’s the right time. Take care my friend.🥰
It's awful to find oneself in the artistic doldrums. It doesn't feel like you're moving, but you are sailing forward. If you're healing from loss you may need the calm to heal your heart. Every loss is unique as is the way we mourn for each loss. It may be that your heart is mourning by not creating. When a childhood friend died I had this insane compulsion to make frogs. I've no idea why. Like a crazy woman frogs were leaping off my sewing machine. I think there was about forty of them. All unique. I gave some away. Some I put on my Christmas tree. Some live on my book case. Two years later another friend died and I had this plant she'd given me. I babied that plant until it too died. A few years after that a highschool friend died and I became a zombie listening to music that would have made her roll her eyes. I don't think I did much of anything for weeks or months. Instead of worrying about making art use this time to feed your inner artist. My advice is to follow your creative curiosity. Whatever is catching your attention. Start filling a notebook (or a box or a baket - something concrete) with sketches, notes or examples of whatever delights you or engages your sense of wonder. Give the organisational part of you something creative to research or collect. When your artist is ready to make art you'll have a book or basket to inspire you. Giving your heart time to heal will ensure that your're ready to turn all the pain into something beautiful.
Hi Trina, as always l love this. Now I'm going to get acrylic on my watercolour paintings. You asked me how l used the tools l mentioned in the comments in your last video. I posted a reply but utube said "error occured" so l assume you didnt see it. Basically l twist and turn and drag the pens and graffite across the paper, very like the way you do. Many thanks......Alioban
I love how this turned out. The white was a magic touch and I loved the scratches and black lines that went through it.😍
Thank you! I did a pretty good job of preserving the whites but it needs a bit more. And you know I love the scratchy lines. 😍

I can tell you have fun doing these creative abstracts! That is most important part!
Absolutely! I love the freedom of abstract painting. 😊
