  • My conversion has been a journey. No lightening bolts. No bearded man on a cloud inviting me to see the light. A real, enlightening, family, life- learning journey and I'm still on it. Hope you like! G

I am a cradle Catholic and when I was 25 I had a conversion experience where I got to know God in a much deeper way, as a Catholic. That feeling of knowing God in such a deep way has never left me. I truly can say that if I weren't Catholic I would make a beeline for the Catholic Church -- just like you!

God bless you beloved daughter of God and sister of the saints. I recently went to a Catholic church service and I had the same experience as you. I was so touched by the peace, the warmth, the love and the welcome. I was holding back the tears when I went to the service. I cant put my finger on it, but its of God. I've never experienced anything like it in any church. I found Jesus there for sure. I was touched by your testimony and it confirms what I felt is true. My wife, baby and myself will be Catholics soon. I love the Catholic Church and come as a child. Those who say its of the devil, are liars. The devil has attacked the church the most because its Gods church. No church or people are perfect like you said, but at least we have Jesus. God bless you.

I don't want to go over that entire list in one shot, and I don't know if you'll take up my offer, so I'll just put this up, since I have a hunch that you think #2 is the most serious/ hardest to refute: www.catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/hail-mary-conceived-without-sin

I came into the Catholic Church 55 years ago-a mixed-up young man finding an anchor. I fear to think where my life may have gone without the Church, the Church Fathers, the sacraments, and the wisdom. From spending years in a monastery to studying and praying and deepening my faith and my knowledge, I have known a life richer and more joyful than I could have guessed was attainable in this world. Carry-on, young lady. Your journey is only beginning.

I absolutely loved your conversion story 💕 I’m a cradle catholic but i have not always been practicing catholic until I was in a bind lol a sad time in my life and that’s when I really found that my “Faith” was what directed me to Jesús through Mary and the 📿 rosary. I would pray it with my mom daily and it changed my life. And if I felt alone or had a problem I went to the Blessed Sacrament for adoration and found myself at peace with whatever God had for me . Confession is tough but it is so healing and just everything about my Faith is beautiful. Thanks again for your story and may God Bless you in this great journey 🙏🏻🙏🏻💕

      Full Question
Why does the Roman Catholic Church teach the doctrine of "works righteousness," that through good works one can earn salvation?
      Answer
The Catholic Church has never taught such a doctrine and, in fact, has constantly condemned the notion that men can earn or merit salvation. Catholic soteriology (salvation theology) is rooted in apostolic Tradition and Scripture and says that it is only by God's grace--completely unmerited by works--that one is saved.
The Church teaches that it's God's grace from beginning to end which justifies, sanctifies, and saves us. As Paul explains in Philippians 2:13, "God is the one, who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work."
Notice that Paul's words presuppose that the faithful Christian is not just desiring to be righteous, but is actively working toward it. This is the second half of the justification equation, and Protestants either miss or ignore it.
James 2:17 reminds us that "faith of itself, if it does not have work, is dead." In verse 24 James says, "See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone." And later: "For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead" (2:26).
The Council of Trent harmonizes the necessity of grace and works: "If anyone says that man can be justified before God by his own works, whether done by his own natural powers or by the teaching of the Law, without divine grace through Jesus Christ, let him be anathema" (Session 6; can. 1).
The Council fathers continued by saying, "If anyone says that the sinner is justified by faith alone, meaning that nothing else is required to cooperate in order to obtain the grace of justification and that it is not in any way necessary that he be prepared and disposed by the action of his own will, let him be anathema" (Session 6: can. 9).
By the way, "let him be anathema" means "let him be excommunicated," not "let him be cursed to hell." The phrase was used in conciliar documents in a technical, theological sense, not in the same sense as the word "anathema" is found in Scripture. Don't let "Bible Christians" throw you for a loop on this one.
So, far from teaching a doctrine of "works righteousness" (that would be Pelagianism, which was condemned at the Council of Carthage in A.D. 418), the Catholic Church teaches the true, biblical doctrine of justification.

"Our hearts are restless O Lord, until they come to rest in thee." St. Augustine.
I thank you and encourage you to read the writings of the saints, I am sure you will find that you're very blessed, that not only did God make you religious or Christian, He made you Catholic. Out of all the churches you could've entered, it was Catholic, and even though it was a Polish mass, you went back. That part of your story really amazes me, in a time when people don't have much patience or tolerance for what they don't understand, you went back. In the words of Saint Augustine again "You are great O Lord, and greatly to be praised". And so God has done great things for you and His mercy has shone on you, and may it always be with you and your family.

Welcome home! Thanks for sharing your story. I want to point out two things:
    • Although we are works in progress, we are called to be perfect! When we fail, we should recognize that we failed, seek God's forgiveness in the sacrament of penance (confession) as warranted, and continue undaunted to strive for holiness and perfection. See CCC 2013.
    • A Christian's relationship with God has both personal and communal aspects:
[A] As a member of the Mystical Body of Christ, a Christian's good works and adherence to Christian truths benefit the entire Body; likewise, a Christian's bad works and rejection of Christian truths injure the entire Body.
[B] The personal aspect of a relationship with God is evidenced by activities such as prayer, study of scripture or Church teaching, and private devotions. The communal aspect of a relationship with God is evidenced by activities such as communal worship (Holy Mass), public protests against evils that cry out to heaven for justice, and public communal devotions. (These lists aren't exhaustive!)

I like your polish mass story !! I once went to a Catholic Church to go to confession that I had never gone to before in Los Angeles. I rode my bicycle real fast 3 miles to get there. I ran in and got in line. I was a little out of breath and a little sweaty. People in line were stairing at me. I thought that is rude. They kept on looking at me for the longest time. I thought this is weird? Then the door next to me opened and a person came out of confession. I had got in the FRONT of the line on accident. LoL as I walked to the back of the line it was smiles all around.

On any given weekend within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles there is Mass in as many as 60 languages or with the assistance of those who speak those languages. There is also a mass in sign language for the hearing-impaired. All are welcome to God's universal church and efforts are made to accommodate as many as possible. :-)

"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm..." -Jeremiah 17:5. There is not a more demonic or unbiblical practice than the Catholic confessional. The idea that a sinful man can forgive someone's sins is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. 1st Timothy 2:5 couldn't be clearer ... “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

    • @PInk77W1

Gilbert D jesus told the apostles “Whose sins YOU forgive they are forgiven”

joseph karl - John 20:23 states, “Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.” If what the Catholic Church teaches is true (i.e., that priests have been given the power to forgive sins), then it must also be true that they have been given the power to REFUSE to forgive your sins. If this is true, then it creates a serious doctrinal contradiction in the teachings of Christ, who said in Matthew 6:15, “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Clearly, we have a discrepancy here. If priests did have the power to forgive your sins, but refused to do so, then it would be a sin.

    1. The sense you got in that Catholic church was the Real Presence of Jesus Christ, who is truly present mind, body, blood, soul and divinity in the tabernacle, in every Catholic church around the world.
    2. If there were no sinners there would be no need for the Sacrament of Penance. Think about how much that would offend God, since he explicitly instituted this Sacrament.
    3. The walls of Catholic dogma are the walls of a playground, not a prison -- G K Chesterton.

Catholics may say you dont have to be perfect to be a Catholic but all other churches can say the same thing. What they wont say is that the word 'Catholic' means something more than other churches. It is called Catholic because they believe Catholic is the perfect church compared to any other church. In fact look up the 4 marks of the church. It says one, holy, catholic, apostolic church because Catholic believe they have everything the original church had. In other words it was promoted by the sword and by governments because some religious people thought it was the right perfect church and anyone who disagreed was not Catholic or just a heretic. So it was more about the name than principles. A great proof is the reality that half of the Catholics in America are not prolife in the political world. Catholics think they got it all but they neglect many of the important teachings of the gospels. They promote the name instead of the original teachings of the apostles in their context. The bible says believers are the church, and that if our church was of the world we would we fight physically for our beliefs. So the church is not of the world. We dont unite with govt. to force our beliefs as the Catholic Pope was doing in history. Salvation is a choice. We dont need to attend a church to make that choice to convert and live for our Creator.

You are really searching for the truth.Jesus said he is the truth When Jesus walked into the house truth entered Assuredly salvation has come into this house..Acts 4;12 tells us salvation is found only in Jesus and there is no other name under heaven given to man by which we must be saved.Only believers will go to Paradise Just like the thief on the cross Luke 23:34-44. Remember no church saves but only a personal relationship with Jesus,Have you received your free gift yet? Well call out to Jesus and be saved right now

Are you still a Catholic? If you are and you believe in Jesus Christ, you need to put your belief in the RCC to the test by saying a prayer like this:
Almighty God, I believe that the Roman catholic church is the true church and that its religion is true.
However, if the church's religious beliefs and practices are not accepted by You and do not glorify You, because they come from human error or deception, please lead me away from them.
I do not want to believe, do or participate in anything that offends You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, so if the Roman catholic church is not where I should be, please lead me to Your truth and give me the faith I need for my salvation.
I make this prayer in Jesus' name. Amen.

It's better to become Catholic Christians you have FREEDOM to worship God Jesus Christ and not to worship or offer prayers to other saints!
You have the Choice to follow the teachings of priests or not!
But the priority is to follow the Words of Our Lord God Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible!
Attending Church in Sundays is not obligatory but with your hearts desire to do it!

“Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men ... Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition” (Mark 7:7,9). Satan controls the Vatican. There is no evil like the Catholic Church. Billions of people will burn in Hell for all eternity because of the lies taught by the Catholic religion. I plead with all Catholics to come out of the Catholic prisonhouse of religion. From the cradle-to-the-casket, the Catholic Church is a deception of manmade traditions and religious lies.

Choose what you think is the worst "tradition of men" in the Church, and we'll see how well your case stands.

Nowhere does the Bible speak of praying to Mary, Purgatory, priests being prosecuted for sexual abuse and so much other Catholic doctrine that is flawed.

Daniel Wenzel wrong! Also nowhere in the bible does it say it was made or do the Alostles mention the creation of a New Testanent. You search the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life through them - John 5:39. Praying to saints Revelation 8:4, anointing with oil James 5:14, baptism Mark 16:16, confirmation Hebrews 6:1-3, Priests 1 Corinthians 10:14-22

Daniel Wenzel: Purgatory: your point being? Mary is not presented as divinity; this is preposterous and you're making stuff up! Finally, you're bringing up the sex abuse scandals as though those are defining catholicism dogmatically. Your post shows you as a demagog who knows nothing about the Catholic church and serves clichés as arguments. Sadly, laughable!
