Abandoned (haunted?) former Seaview Sanitarium in New York City

  • It was once the largest tuberculosis sanitarium (1913-1961) in the United States with as many as 2,000 patients. This building was the Children's Ward. Prior to the sanitarium in 1803, it was the first 'poor farm' in the country; in 1837 it was a cholera hospital for the mentally ill; and in 1902 it was converted to a Farm Colony for inmates. Today it is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is also a U.S. Historic District and New York City landmark. Some claim it is haunted by deceased patients.
