    The charter act 1833 also attempted to introduce system of open competition for selection of civil services, where Indians were allowed to hold seats and employment in the company. However the court of directors opposed and it was a failure

      Spectrum is just a reference book ... Upsc does not set paper from spectrum. So if you see something which is not in spectrum ... it is also important

    Sir one question is, before charter act 1813 British East India company was trading India on vast number their high quality goods and commodities. But after act 1813, For British Merchants British parliament changed 200+ yrs monopoly and they too started trading there, where British East India company also agree with that. As after act 1813, trading was Tea trade and trade with China. So my question is = If the trading was Tea trade then how was Indian industries was badly affected, though it can only seen tea industries can get affected I guess. Please sir clear my doubt if I'm wrong in any point. ASAP waiting for your answer sir.
    Though I love you videos it's helped me alot to know more about mordern history and polity🙂

      1858 is wrong answer because with government of India act 1858 ... rule of east India company was also disbanded and rule of British crown started

      Charter Act, 1833 only proposed for the open civil services examination which was negated after the opposition of Court of Directors.
      It was finally accepted in Charter Act,1853.
