      You did a beautiful job on this patio. I know how hard you worked to make it happen. I have been building a cabin in the woods by myself and want to do some stonework out front. The idea is a waterfall feeding a stone creek under the pier that leads to my front door, and then on down to a pond. It's going to be a big project, and I'm dreading it and looking forward to it all at the same time. But seeing what you have done by yourself is inspiring me to "Git Er Done"! Great video. New sub.

      Next week I start my home interior painting. This fall I will be pulling a page (a few actually) from your book and starting a retaining wall, floating deck, and pergola project... that's the plan anyway ha!@@BYOTools

    Really appreciate the dedication to squaring and centering. My neighbors probably think I'm nuts when I've done the same, but glad to see it is a key component of craft!

    Another great project done by yourself. I work be myself mostly and it’s easier sometimes if you have less than expert helpers. No constant direction or redoing their mistakes. Beautiful. OH YEAH!

    Ive been landscaping for years ans never deally did pavers and want to consume every ounce of knowledge about laying pavers ans you have helped me so much. I never would have though about squaring it off and starting from the middle

    Man, the PNW is just so perfectly suited for beautiful paver patios like this! The ground is so stable and predictable! My parents retired to Point Roberts about 8 years ago, and I love helping them with various home improvement projects like this when I visit! I live in the south, and our soil is just awful slop down here. All the prep work you did for this, and it would still look like hot garbage within two years here. Floating or elevated decks for us! We envy your beautiful pavers!

    Great job, great tips. However, I would have removed those stairs and then reinstalled them on top of the pavers. That way, if the stairs have to be repaired, it's not a major job . Plus, I think it looks better.

    Why didn’t you screed the sand level with a 1/8 pitch away from house

    • @e4d578
      @e4d578 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You actually don't pitch the sand. The base crushed gravel and sub-base are graded with the appropriate pitch.

    16:00 - would this corner look better if you cut symmetrical pieces off both sides of each paver?

  • @chucko31499
    @chucko31499 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    interesting that you didnt use sand for the rest of the pavers. curious if that strategy still holds when you’re doing things like driveways.

    As always your attention to detail is one of your major assets!
    Congrats.
    Sorry for this question, but out of curiosity, and you don't have to answer if you don't want. For me, here in Spain it would be interesting to know roughly how much you charged for this job. Materials, renting , labour etc, all incl. I just feel that we are massively underpaid here in Spain compared to America, England, Australia etc.

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for all the support and the kind words Mike. I don't normally talk about pricing because it varies so heavily based on where you live. Just know this job is approximately $10,000 and more then half of that is materials.

      @@BYOTools My sincerest apologies, I have just seen your reply!
      Thank you so much for your time and attention.
      Your ballpark number is where i expected, overhere we have been inundated with unregulated and illegal workers and therefore have drived down the price. but that is for another topic and not on something as helpful as your site!
      Thanks again for your time and efforts and pls keep on sharing!! Plus you have a fantastic family with a great dog! All the best families have a dog!! Thanks again!
