Absolutely brilliant is the composition content on Lord Shiva by Swati Tirunelveli on a raaga Varamu, again a vivadi raaga which makes me to forget myself and get drenched in the sublime beauty of such raaga prayogas like the ones of Kanthamani, Jyotiswaroopini and this Varamu - all posted by Mr Narayana kumar- appreciate his taste and high degree of picking up the right and rare kritis and on vivadi ragas as well... this vocalist did so well and the sangatis were brilliantly exposed the beauty of the composition and brought the mental frame work of the composer as well in line with the raagaa’s retrograde placements of consonants...and very much one can enjoy that too at a time of lockdown and at late night hours which are always earmarked for one-to-one talking time frame to cherish in the abundance of wealth of carnatic music... thanks Narayana Kumar... Thanks for your meaningful and insightful comments, Sir. I love Vivadhi raga renditions. You have very rightly brought out all nuances of this performance
This keerthanam is not in the raga Varamu.. Most of all keerthanams composed by Maharaja Sree Swathi Thirunal were first written and published by Shri. Chidambara Vadhyar in the language Malayalam. In his book, this krithi is seen in the raga Karnataka Kaappi ..🙏🙏🙏
Super crisp ..... well rendered ...... Lovely raga - started to like this today onwards after a detailed alapana by Shri Injikkudi Subramaniam's 2014 Parivadini concert ..... Now, it will be like a "kuruvi-payasam" story to drink this raga-nectar .....
Hi. Splendidly sung varamu. Many more wishes To Madam. Me have a small open question to ghatam Players/lovers. They used to have a small wooden cube (high quality teak/oak matt finish) to give an ambience audio from ghatam). Is it not necessary nowadays in modern era. Hope, getting reply. Thank you all concerned.
The Maharaja Swathi Thirunal kriti- 'shambho satatam pAhi krpaarasa saagara saamba vibho' was originally set to 'karnataka kapi' n have listened the recital even by the doyen Dr.Semmangudi Shri Srinivasa Iyer ! Even our present vocalists sing this in Karnataka Kapi ( S R2 G2 M1 P D2 N2 S/ S N2 D2 P M1 G2 R2 S ) only., no idea why Amrita venkatesh got prompted to sing in a different ragam...in Varamu (aka) Hindolagamani....Suddha Hindolam!....notes.S G2 M1 D2 N2 S/ S N2 D2 M1 G2 S, Its a a janya of Karaharapriya???!!! Of course, the compositions fits into this ragam too n the rendition is melodious.
The rendering of this keerthanam is Superb ..

Could you please comment on Varamu being a 'vivadi' raga? I am confused!
Accompanists?

Beautiful singing ... i think TVG inspired by this composition which made him compose Maheswari .. Anupallavi sounds the same for both compositions
