Hello and welcome to my channel, where today I will be sharing with you my experience of obtaining a security license in Perth, Western Australia. As an international student from Pakistan studying in Australia, I know firsthand how daunting it can be to navigate the process of obtaining the necessary licenses and certifications to work in certain industries in Australia. That's why I want to share my experience and provide valuable insights for other students, especially those from Pakistan and India, who may be interested in pursuing a career in security in Australia.
Let's start with the basics. Perth is the capital city of Western Australia and is known for its beautiful beaches, parks, and urban lifestyle. It's a popular destination for international students who are drawn to its world-class universities, excellent quality of life, and diverse cultural experiences. As an international student in Australia, you can explore the country, meet new people, and gain valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit you in your future career.
One industry that is popular among international students in Australia is the security industry. Security guards are in high demand across the country, and there are many opportunities for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in this field. However, to work as a security guard in Australia, you must first obtain a security license. The process of obtaining a security license in Perth, Western Australia, involves several steps.
The first step is to obtain a security certificate, which is offered by two organizations in Perth - Strike Training and Integrated. I obtained my security certificate from Strike Training, as they offer a more hands-on approach to learning. Integrated, on the other hand, requires students to complete a written exam to obtain their security certificate. The total fee for the security certificate is $725, with an initial payment of $300 required at the time of booking classes. Additional fees may apply if you wish to obtain a white card, which is necessary for working in the construction industry.
Once you have obtained your security certificate, the next step is to book the Security Agents Institute of Western Australia (SAIWA) test. This test assesses your knowledge of the security industry and is a requirement for obtaining a security license. When booking the SAIWA test, you will need to provide your certificate number, which is located on your security certificate. The SAIWA test is conducted at 36 Brisbane St, Perth WA 6000, and you will need to bring your identification documents with you. Acceptable forms of identification include your country's passport, driving license, and national ID card. The test fee for the first attempt is $75, and if you fail, you can retake the test after 24 hours for a fee of $25.
After successfully passing the SAIWA test, the final step is to apply for a security license. This involves applying,
along with a copy of your passport, four Australian passport size pictures, a copy of your driving license, a copy of all your security certificates, and a police character certificate from your country. The application can be submitted in person at 303 Sevenoaks Street Cannington, Western Australia 6107. Once your application is processed, your security license will be delivered to your postal address within 3-4 weeks.
As an international student in Australia, obtaining a security license can open many opportunities for you. Not only does it allow you to work as a security guard, but it can also help you gain valuable skills and experience that will benefit you in your future career. The security industry in Australia is diverse and constantly evolving, with many opportunities for growth and advancement.
