    Every time I listen to the teachings posted by Samaneri Jayasara I feel some change in myself. This particular time, with this particular teaching, I feel as if I've taken more steps into the understanding of the Dharma. What could be more enlightening than listening to Ajahn Chah through the light of Samaneri Jayasara? May all beings benefit from the practice of this meditation. Eternal gratitude!

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Not sure what you mean exactly. All the Masters and Saints presented here are "heavy weights" in one sense or the other. They are all pointing us to the same fundamental Truth but just using different words and paradigms to do so. But these are only words. If we can penetrate with insight to the depth of what they are all saying we will understand they are all saying the same thing and guiding us with love and compassion to free ourselves from suffering. People will continue to have preferences though and leanings towards certain teachers and that's understandable.

    • @cenntraru
      @cenntraru 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamaneriJayasara Yes, all of them or most of them are very good, but you personally from Buddism and Theravada specifically, correct? So I thought maybe teachers like Ajahn, who are from this tradition and from modern times would be more meaningful for you than others, no?

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@cenntraru Sure, they are pretty special indeed and speak clearly and directly to us in this modern day and age without doubt. However, some of the ancient texts are mind blowing in their timeless wisdom which is as relevant today as it was thousands and thousands of years ago. The age old story of suffering and liberation hasn't really changed huh? Glad you are enjoying the priceless teachings of Luang Por Chah my friend.

    I've visited a 10 days silent retreat at Goenka's school of Vipassana back in October. Though challenging, it was a very powerful experience I must say. And I could never reach the same level of insights and healing from my meditation practice at home, when I meditated for 1 hour every morning. Seems like meditation could work only when it's practice that intensely. Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong, if you have any advice, please share?

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The core of the practice is to let go of all wanting, all craving, and all grasping for any experiences for this 'me'. If you investigate that very desire for even intense meditation experiences, whether that be bliss, peace, or insights - you see it is rooted in a sense of a self who is always wanting something or wanting things to be other than they actually are. True wisdom arises when one can be fully with the way things are - that is the Dhamma. As Ajahn Chah says in this teaching, look honestly at what is happening in the mind in terms of love/ wanting/ grasping and hating/aversion. Stay with the quality of knowing, penetrate until you are able to transcend these extremes - this constant pull and push which is the cause of suffering. Then the heart and mind are released and at ease.

    • @cenntraru
      @cenntraru 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamaneriJayasara What do you think about a more modern approach to this, that says it's not just wanting and grasping, on a deeper level it's the sense guilt causing any motivation in our lives, ie desire for money or career is not just a desire for money but a sense of guilt related to money that the person tries to "pay back". I've read about this in the book Disapperance of the Universe, and psychotherapy says the same thing like in the Good Will Hunting movie.

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cenntraru Sure, guilt sounds like a primary motivator - especially for us Westerners. However, regardless of the analysis of what is driving the grasping, the important thing is simply to see clearly and to understand the grasping itself when it is occurring in that very moment. It is the seeing it with clear wisdom that unlocks the door to Liberation - the letting go happens naturally then.
