Homesteading is my word. I love living with the back-to-basics skills set-cooking from scratch, sewing and mending, cleaning with household items such as vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, raising a garden, canning and dehydrating to preserve our food and raising chickens for eggs and meat. Such an exciting journey to look forward to in 2023-Can’t Wait!
I'm retired from a career in a big city but grew up living on my family homestead back in the mountains of WVa. My parents left me the old place and I moved back here in 2006. I love it despite the challenges and work involved. My only regret is not seeing my grandchildren as often as I'd like as they live a few hours drive away.
Janetstone. Have your grandkids stay with yall for a while theyll love it. Show them how to garden n take care of livestock. Give them an animal yo care for while there n show them how to cook. Take them on hikes to get God's fresh air n sunshine.
My husband and I are staying home! I’m making steamed shrimp which I’ve had in the freezer and need to use! New Year’s Day we’re having pork, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes late afternoon since we have church service that day! My word for 2023 is Faithful, to my friends, family and Lord! Happy 2023 🎊 🎉
My word for 2023 is "Nourish". I want to fill my mind, body, and soul with positive and peaceful activities and goals. I am weaning myself off of Facebook as it has been a big negative aspect in my life. I want to fill my life with as much positivity and peace as I can and get rid of all the negativity that weighs me down. I want to nourish my life and my body in healthy ways. Sadly, I just found out I have Covid. I will be laying low at home and resting as much as possible. I will try to watch a movie I have never seen before on my laptop as I rest in bed. Happy New Year 2023 Paul and Emmy! You are both so fantastic to watch.
My word is freedom we will pay off our house and truck this year, we have no other debt and a year from today I will be retiring. So we will be free from debt and work and can finally enjoy all our time together as a couple just finding the joy of every single day. I pray God gives us many more years together.
My word for 2023 is contentment (Joy was 2022). I challenged my nine grandchildren on Thanksgiving to select a word for the year and we will each share the word we chose and "report" on Thanksgiving 2023. Look forward to your videos each Tuesday and Friday keeping us all motivated. Happy New Year!😊 Blessings to you.
I keep my dehydrator on our counter and my pressure canner on my stove. Whenever I have any fruit or veg that may be starting to go I just wash, chop (blanch if needed) and put them in the dehydrator. I have saved carrots, potatoes and broccoli for soups, apple chips for snacks, banana chips, onions and herbs for storage. And beef jerky to clear out my freezer. When I cook soups, roasts and poultry and have too much leftovers, I pressure can whatever I can for "instant" meals on our shelf. Broths and roasted chicken, bacon, corned beef and potatoes, zuppa toscana, pork chops on mushroom sauce.
My word is "freedom". Freedom from debt and the stress that comes with it. That soup looked amazing! It's a great meal stretcher for "No Spend January"! Hubby will happily eat soup as often as I make it. And we'll probably be sleeping when the ball drops!
My word for 2023 is save because I am going to focus on saving money, saving time, saving food and not wasting it, saving myself from falling into unnecessary spending and unnecessary other habits that don’t serve me well.
We're going to have the traditional frozen pizza with some black eyed peas and greens w/sausage. I haven't really thought abotu a word for this year, but if I had to choose one right now, it would be conqueror because our whole life has been turned upside down. BUT we are conquerors through Christ and we will continue to press forward!
My words for 2023 are FOCUSED & THANKFUL. Excited for what God will reveal in the new year. We stay home New Year's Eve, watch our favorite movies and enjoy a simple meal. For New Year's Day, we call family across the country & we watch the Rose Parade on tv. Happy New Year to you both!
Word is porpoise = Purpose. It's supposed to help me laugh and keep centered. Had really hard 2022! Looking for a brighter and lighter 2023 which is my wish to all! We save our super big meal for New Years and have smoked roast beef. Bought on sale and frozen December, smoked and eaten in January both as big meal and sandwiches, freeze the bones and Xtra meat for stock, breakfast tacos, casseroles, soup, etc through the year. We save for it because we know the cost up front is pricey but the multi use can only be compared to whole turkey! We consider it such the blessing for our New Year. Happy 2023 everyone! ( FAMILY TRADITION / Play games and watch The Thin Man)
Happy New Year and happy soups and stews. For the first time in 54 years going to a party. Will get my Chinese food tomorrow on New Year's Day instead of New Year's Eve. My word for the New Year is finish. Finish all my UFO's. Unfinished projects.
Happy New Year!!! 2023 was challenging for me emotionally/ menopausally but I am so much stronger and focused going into 2023. My husband & I are finally talking about our finances and we have set some goals. We are going to our friends campground NYE, what a blizzard we had this week. It's a beautiful Springlike day, snow is melting, feels like rebirth at the perfect time of year. I made MS roast to take and beef & barley soup with the same beef for my 96 yr young neighbor Dodi. How ironic! My word of the year is steady...I'm moving at a good pace with the past in my rearview mirror and good things ahead. I'm 54 and this year I got my driver's license and bought a car. 😜 🚗 Cheers! Joni from WNY
I feel so blessed to have found your channel. It has helped our home so much this past year. Looking forward to a frugal journey together in 2023. My word for 2023 is "Renew".
Can't believe we're almost to 2023! I will be having my family here for a belated Christmas on Sunday. We will be having taco soup and sliders...not a tradition, just eating what we already have. My word/prayer for 2023 is "Empowerment" and will be asking God daily for His power over my life. Happy New Year, Emmy, Paul and Dixie!
Happy New Year Emmy and Paul! Your tips really improved life in my kitchen this year! My vacuum food saver, my new wide-mouth funnel and using butter wrappers to grease baking pans have greatly enhanced efficiency in my kitchen! Since 98% of our meals are made from scratch, the bulk of my days are spent in the kitchen, so anything that helps me work smarter not harder is deeply appreciated. It was a rainy, foggy day here in the Hudson Valley, so it was a good day to bake bread, make a double batch of tomato gravy with meatballs for our New Year's Eve dinner. Desserts were cookies, cakes and candies I made for Christmas. The leftover sauce will get divided and frozen for future dinners! My word for 2023 is "DETERMINED". Determined to navigate this ridiculous supermarket inflation and come out ahead! My best to all of you! Happy 2023!
What a great word for 2023! I love it! I've lived my life, for the most part, forcing myself beyond my comfort zone...to grow, learn and expand myself. One example is that I'm a real homebody. So, I forced myself to do travel nursing. I learned to streamline my nursing to basics so I could improve on those skills and not get trapped in local policies and practices. It really did expand my nursing skills and development as I saw how other nursing system's policies and practices were put into place and used. I met and made friends with a lot of new people. I certainly learned a lot about other areas. My word, or phrase, for 2023 is diligent perseverance. I've had 2 no-spend years. I did just fine till October both years. 2023 needs to be the year I make it all the way through December, God willing. I'm on a low fixed income. I'm VERY thankful for it. Not spending allows me to have a small cushion put aside. It's a great feeling for a saver to be able to save something...even if it's only a little bit. So, with God's help, I'll go all year without spending unnecessarily. Love to you, Paul, Dixie and Loris! ❤ And Happy New Year!
Happy New Years!!.. Can't get anymore frugual then working 16 hrs today, New Years Eve day, and 16 hours tomorrow on New Year's. Woohoo.. All overtime.. Saving to start building my little house on my property in SC... Enjoy your Twilight Series...
I guess my word for 2023 will be "commitment". I am committed to decluttering my house, committed to low spend year in order to gain some savings, committed to healthy eating, committed to paying off car and hopefully one of 2 credit cards. If I don't succeed then I give you permission to have me "committed".
Wishing you all a wonderful new year. I’m packing up to move in the new year. Finishing all the freezer meals I have saved ready to defrost my small chest freezer. My word for 2023 is rebirth. Thank you for all your wisdom and knowledge via your videos and from all the comments. May God bless you and keep you all safe xxx
Your barley soup had me googling the nutrition facts and learning that 1/2 cup barley has almost the same amount of protein as an ounce of meat. That was a very nutritious soup. Looked delicious, too.
Starting the year of with Sunday Mass with the whole family. Lunch after church of “ clean out the refrigerator “ shepherd’s pie, and homemade pumpkin pie and brownies for dessert. Family was forewarned that lunch was not anything fancy. I’ve been freezing the leftover scraps from holiday meals and we’ll see how they come together.🤣🤣 God bless you, Paul and your viewers. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year🎉
A few weeks ago I specifically saved part of the Mexican rice with beef I made for dinner and put it in the freezer to have tonight. After heating it up, I added cheese, sour cream, sliced olives and cilantro. Tomorrow will be a no-cook day, as I will heat up breakfast and dinner by defrosting the quiche and lasagna we had on Christmas. Nice to have a bit of a break from all the cooking over the holidays (as well as my daughter's birthday the week before). I also enjoyed a rare break from food shopping during this past week by using what we already had. 😊
My daughter and her family will be coming over on New years eve. We are having a taco bar and playing board games. New years day we don't have plans on what to eat but I hard boil 15 eggs from our chickens for my husband's lunches, and I will be doing an inventory of my Pantry's, freezers, and fridge and meal planning. My word for 2023 is contentment.
I want to wish you and Paul a Blessed New Year. I wanted to share with you that we found hams on sale at Walmart yesterday for fifty cents a pound. There was no limit so we bought a few and gifted about four to our neighbors and got two for ourselves. Everyone was so appreciative and it didn't cost that much. Im so glad that we were able to do that.
New Year's Day was the last day I spent with my family in Ketchikan, AK, and my beautiful daughter in law and I made a point of cleaning out the refrigerator as much as possible. We made broccoli/chicken/rice/cheese casserole with all left-overs for lunch. ate left-over sandwiches for breakfast and then had a wonderful baked ham with zucchini fritters for dinner. The ham and fritters were new, but we did a righteous job of conquering the leftovers. We watched television, played games and otherwise avoided going out into the cold wind and rain. I am already conquering my urges for my no-spend 2023. Bigelow was having a sale and I love their teas, but I already have plenty no matter the discount. Baby steps, I know. My word for 2023 is consciousness. I want to be conscious of every action I take and do nothing mindlessly, even that impulse buy at the grocery store, no matter how low the price is.
Tomorrow is a BIG day for me as I finish reading my 365 day Chronological order Bible cover to cover! New Years day I start over. My word is Continue. Continue to be frugal, continue cooking meals and watching where my money goes. Continue enjoying my life. New Years day is my husbands birthday! We will stay home and write "thank you" notes for our x-mas gifts and he will watch football. Happy New Year to you all
Church on Sunday. Blackeyed peas to begin the New Year. Kindness will be my word for the New Year. Thank you for your encouraging video. May God bless and encourage you for today and the coming year.
I am going to bed New Years Eve! I can't stay awake past 10 pm now days. hahahah! New Years Day is my last day off before returning to work, so I will be taking it easy.
Happy New Year!! I love the Twilight Zone! For 2023 what I have is more like a thought or a plan than a word. I'm planning to stand up for myself more this year. As a healthcare worker I spend a lot of time advocating for my clients and patients, but don't do as well when it comes to advocating for myself and letting people know when they are crossing my boundaries. So, maybe my word is "Boundaries".
My word this year is “refocus”. The last 14 months was a mess. Going through the divorce and dissolving all the stuff we had, I need to refocus on myself and my future.
"Making do." I cooked a black bean soup and worked on my 2023 budget. Doing a low-spend year. Eating out of the pantry and freezer first, greatly reduce takeout and eating out, don't let any foods go to waste, and no buying clothes in January and reducing the amount of clothes I buy for the year
Our family is gathering tomorrow afternoon for a delayed Christmas celebration, after which I'm coming home to watch TV and probably read. My word for next year is ENOUGH. I want to focus on the fact that I AM enough, I HAVE enough and deal with those situations where I've HAD enough. Think this focus will help me in meal planning, decluttering, time management, finances, fitness, etc. Happy New Year!
My word will be contentment this year. I love being frugal… I like to think of it as a game. I have been blessed with the things I need and look forward to learning greater contentment with what I have. I want to spend my time being a better gardener and other peaceful activities. We are watching football tomorrow and will have an assortment of foods for snacking. Happy New Year to all!
I’ve been thinking on several words for 2023 and the one I keep coming back to is “direction”. The last half of 2022 was major upheaval due to a very drastic decision my husband and I made that a lot of people did not agree with and it caused us to be cut off from family and friends which has been heartbreaking and created a lot of change we were not expecting. Because of that.. I have felt lost in where I should be heading in life right now.. so I’m praying for direction. New Year’s Eve has been spent cooking and cleaning and planning for next month. New Year’s Day will be spent at home with the traditional Southern meal of black eyed peas, cornbread, and cabbage.
Word of the year: Peace! I feel the need to stop being so legalistic about my life and stop pushing myself way beyond what's manageable. I want peace in my life. My husband, youngest daughter, and myself will travel 3 hours to spend NYE/Day with our son and his family--yay grandkids!! We will have a late Christmas gift exchange and some NYE fun. I'm glad to be doing this and glad that I won't be cooking for this occasion-yay! But...my oldest daughter has to work and my Mom isn't able to travel so far, so we won't be with them, except for a video call. It makes me sad. I'm learning that as the family expands and such, it's tough sometimes and leaves me remembering the days when we were all together and it was simple and fun. Next week my husband goes back to work. I have decided that, since I've cooked and cleaned and decorated and shopped and wrapped , etc.....I am taking next week to have MY Christmas vacation. My daughter and I are starting a new eating/exercise plan and I will be cooking at a minimum next week....and I hope to read, rest, and recover from the holidays. I often finish the holidays feeling a bit sorry for myself--and I know it's ugly, but I am TIRED. I can see hot baths and fuzzy slippers in my future---at least I hope so. THEN, I'll get back to reality. Happy New Year!
I let a lot of things go this year. Busy being a caretaker to my dear hubby. Guess what? Nobody noticed! My son loves live trees and he bought one and decorated it. No leftover cookies to package up and freeze and then about March get rid of. Son and daughter showed off cooking skills and I stood back and let them. Just like mom's? No. But is my cooking just like my mom's? No. Ate some new yummy recipes, and some old favorites. Daughter shopped for her family which I had no idea of what they wanted. Some got money for future wedding, and other expenses. They were delighted. Shock of all shocks! I wasn't in charge and it was a wonderful family time, just because we were together. I think my word needs to be priorities. And sometimes that means someone else gets the joy of doing things for the family.
Awesome video! Thank you so much for the idea with the cards, I'm a card saver and needed a good idea to recycle them. I just filled a bag with clothes to donate and my plan for January beside the no spending is to clear clutter out of every room. My hubby and I are going to play board games and watch movies New Year's Eve. We went to Trader Joe's today and they had the maple popcorn we didn't get to try in the fall because they had run out of it, so we'll try that out during movie time. We're going to make taco bowls for dinner: brown rice, shredded lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, etc; like the ones they have at Chipotle, but healthier. New Year's Day, I'll make gingerbread pancakes and we'll just relax. My word for the year is going to be, "Strong." I have severe anxiety from being abused when I was younger and it still affects me today. I want to be stronger and not feel weak, and feel more peaceful. Have a healthy and happy new year Emmy and Paul, oh and darling Dixie!
Prepare is my word..NY Eve to a gathering with friends: bring an appetizer & cookies, NY Day, out on our boat with another couple, home & made a traditional Southern Dinner; blackeyed peas/ kielbasa, rice, broccoli, & cornbread
For New Years Eve We have children coming home with their families. I am making a Buffalo Chicken Dip to use up the crackers and chips left over from Christmas. Any left over bread, buns or crackers, I will crush and freeze for meatloaf / hamburger binder. All our grandchildren and childrens birthdays are in the warmer months, so I focus knitting, sewing crafts for gifts in January,February and March when its cold and snowy outside.
We are staying home. Long term pantry organized. We have family coming in tomorrow. My word for 2023 will be intentional. I plan to make better use of the time I have off work to be better organized and make better choices.
Relaxed and baked a cake for our Grandson’s birthday on New Years Eve and invited family for a nice meal of homemade chicken pot pies and salad for an early dinner and then had a birthday party for our Grandson. We even played some cards! Nice day!!
I think it is also important to love what you have and not try to keep up with “the Jone’s”. I am in the process of simplifying my life and getting rid of everything I do not need or use. I donate everything to families who can not afford my really nice stuff. One thing to look at is something we did when we lived in New Jersey. We got 20 families together (mostly Mennonites) and ordered a semi truck full of wholesale bought food. We were able to cut our budget in half and the food was very good quality.
Persist is my word something to put energy into. New years eve will be a time to stay with my mom in her seniors apartment. She is 84 so I will clean her place and bring in the new year with her. I will go home early Monday. I enjoy her company.
Happy New year, my word for 2023 is motivated, I would like to grow some vegetables to help with the cost of living and get my house and garden sorted once and for all.
We are having family time, I am making chicken wings with homemade fries and dressings. We will be playing cards and watching movies. We always prefer to stay home on New Year's Eve and where we live people around us shoot off fireworks so we can enjoy the free show.
Emmy....I Love Beef Barley soup. So easy to make and so economical. My word for this year is Praise. Praise for my Lord who sustains me, my family, my entire life. I need to remember to be grateful and Praise the Lord. No special plans for New Years Eve, just hanging out in my PJs.
My word that seems to be for me lately...is *strong*. When I am weak, God helps me to be strong, fighting anxiety at times or just lack of stamina, sometimes I have fear too with my mom being 93...I quietly say 'I am strong' and I ask God to help me. Love the Christmas card idea...It looks great on a solid like that. Calendar pictures would work nicely too on larger packages. : ) Hahaha...Aw yes. We will be home tonight too eating some snacky foods, hubs and I. We will watch the second half of 'To Kill a Mockingbird', we watched first half on my b-day. I am taping some of those twilight zones, thank you, I didn't know that! Also, on Me tv there is the show, Svengoolie every Saturday night. They offer old b/w "scary" shows, like the giant spider and things like that. I don't condone all of the movies offered, some are just demonic (no thanks on that right?) but sometimes it's things like 'The Invisible Man' and then Svengoolie makes fun of parts of the movie, they will sing silly songs about it, and they talk about the actors too and their history. I reiterate, I can't recommend all but half the time they are kind of funny I must say! Thanks also for the soup base idea, the 'whats-this-here' sauce ; ) I don't eat meat but I think a lot of people miss out on homemade soups and how to start them, thinking it's harder than it is. I just put a green and a bean in and it's really good. Variations are endless. We love a good soup, the barley idea is a good change too, I need to do that. Take care, praying for the New Year. : ) Thanks for your videos, they are a bright light in this nutty world.
We're spending New Years Eve at home, watching videos from the library,. One of my favorite repurposed things are gift bags I make from paper flour and sugar bags. My friends like them so much that I have taught classes on how to make them!
Have been waiting for this 🤭🤭🤭 We will be staying home. We’re in our 8th decade of life, so we don’t crave the excitement of crowds at New Year’s celebrations 😊😊😊. We will make pork with sauerkraut for our New Year’s good luck meal… our German tradition. We’re just thankful that we made it through this year. Wishing you and yours a wonderful New Year with much success for your channel. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just tested positive for covid….. so it’s a stay at home kind of night. Hopefully I will feel like making some finger foods for my daughters to enjoy. My word for 2023 is simplicity. I want to live a more slow and simple life and enjoy life more
I watch your video every week. So many good ideas, many of which I have done for years. So nice to hear someone else lives the frugal life. We were able to raise five children, pay off our home and buy a small vacation cabin and help the kids with college by living frugally. and we never felt like we were doing without. One thing I can't do is your no spend January, because that is when I buy winter clothes and linens that are always on sale in January. I use these for Christmas presents for my children and grandchildren. Kohl's had $80 brand name sweaters for $29.00 , I bought seven and ended up with $40 dollars of Kohl's cash, which I then used for two birthday presents. I never pay full price for anything. But I may try a no spend Feb.
Since I'm recovering from an illness I will be home finishing a project and meal planning for January. Hubby's friend is in "town" and wanted to meet up so he'll probably go for a couple of hours then come home. I was invited but declined because I'm not really up to it yet. I'll probably make meatloaf and potatoes for Sunday and hubby will be happily watching the games on TV 😁. In 2023 I am suggesting to hubby that we do a date day one day every month. There are free or low cost things to do all the time, even a walk in the woods with a picnic will do. I do like the word freedom for the word of 2023 as we also are looking for freedom from our mortgage, HOPEFULLY! If you are going out please be safe and vigilant, remember there will be people on the road who shouldn't be and you need to watchful of them. God bless us all in the coming new year! Ps I meant to say that beef barley soup is my FAVORITE though hubby is like Paul and not a big soup guy but I will be making this and he doesn't eat it I'll take it to work every day lol 😂. Great job Emmy!!
On New Years Eve, I hope to watch BTS ' J-Hope's performance on Dick Clark's Rocking New Year. I have cooked most of my New Year's meal today: roast with au jus gravy, black-eyed peas, and turnip greens. I'll cook the rice and the southern cornbread just before the meal. My word, or theme for 2023 is to be kinder to myself, as I am with others and not stress over the small stuff. I hope you guys have a great 2023. And, Dixie is absolutely precious ❤️
Happy New Year , Dear Emmy and Paul. I'm in France and I have been watching you since a few years . Love your simplicity and transparency in your videos.
This year it is just my husband and I at home. We hate driving on New Year's Eve. I'm going to make a charcuterie board for us to nibble for dinner, and we will watch a music concert on tv. New Years day we will drive to visit my brother and celebrate the coming 2023 with him
I love your word for the year. I may go with 2. "Do it." I think of things all the time. Now just do it. (Unless we are talking spending frivolously. Lol)
We are doing a $1 thrifted puzzle and take and bake pizza. Probably a marathon movie set we already own. We have a great movie library. Hopefully we are picking up an adopted cat New Year’s Eve. We decided after losing two awesome buddies in the past couple years we would open our home to spoil another couple kitties during this serious time of need. We have already taken in a young stray and now we are ready for a buddy for him. The word for me is Appreciation. 😊
I have reused christmas cards as tags for years..they don't get squished like bows when transporting! My grandma and mom taught me to use butter wrappers for greasing pans. So many hints gleaned have helped me so much! My word is Intentional!! I intentionally plan to be more organized, frugal, etc this year! Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge! It is much needed!!! I made homemade crocheted and sewn items with fabric and yarn I already had. Have a list for this new year divided by months to get ahead as I got sick after Thanksgiving and am still finishing last gift. 🙃 I am finishing that. Made a pot of northern dried beans and turned it into white bean chicken chili! Yummy and comforting and had all ingredients in my pantry and freezer!
My word for this year is ingenuity. I am going to make a conscious effort to use what I have before I spend money outside my home. Today, I am canning beef and chicken stock for my shelf and making a batch of artisan bread dough to bake as needed throughout the week.
We are going to stay home. Eat snacks from our pantry! Watch videos!🙂 My word is simplicity. Time to declutter and organize in 2023. Thanks for the encouragement and God bless you both!💜💜
My husband and I will be staying home this evening and eating dinner with his brother and sister-in-law at their home on New Year's day. Hope you and family have a, lovely, enjoyable day. Thank you for all that you share.
I love your gift/card hacks! This past Christmas I didn’t have any gift tags. I was going to go get some and realized I had construction paper for scrapbooking and rubber stamps. I made my gift tags and saved money! Also, instead of paying for expensive tissue paper, I pick up packs of old patterns from the thrift store for $0.25-$0.99. It’s tissue paper, unique and fun and definitely saves money!! I so enjoy your videos!
Bicycle-- I want to lose enough weight to ride one again. New Year's Eve is watch the Ball drop on TV. New Year's Day grilling marked down steaks, baked potato, salad. Then the diets begin. 🤣
My word for 2023 is contentment, I am doing a low buy for 2023 and just want to be content with my possessions and life in general. I love your word for 2023, I have the word fearless tattooed on my wrist and try to live by that on the daily. Happy New year 🎉
My word for the year is Simplicity! New Years Eve will be spent with our kids and grandkids! New Year’s Day I will do absolutely nothing ! I can’t wait ! Let the no spend low spend start!
One of my greatest weaknesses is buying books. I always look for deals on used book sites when I hear of a new book I'd like to own. And, of course, I always check my library. But this year I am determined to read the books I already own. I have dozens on my shelves that I have never read.
I don't eat fast food, I use only solar, My water comes from rain. My homestead is paid off. Food is my only expense.
Love that! Sounds wonderful Rachele!
Sounds exactly like us, including the food.
Working both
Happy New Year Gail! Thank you so much!
Cheers to a new year 2023, of new adventures and fresh starts.
To a happy healthy 2023! Thank you!
Oh Susi! I hope you are feeling better! Happy New Year to you as well and thank you!
My word is freedom we will pay off our house and truck this year, we have no other debt and a year from today I will be retiring. So we will be free from debt and work and can finally enjoy all our time together as a couple just finding the joy of every single day. I pray God gives us many more years together.
Oh how wonderful Vicki! I pray the same for you both!
Happy New Year Sherry! Thank you so much!
That's wonderful Sandra Kay!
My word is "freedom". Freedom from debt and the stress that comes with it. That soup looked amazing! It's a great meal stretcher for "No Spend January"! Hubby will happily eat soup as often as I make it. And we'll probably be sleeping when the ball drops!
We will be asleep as well LOL! Happy New Year Karin!
My word for 2023 is save because I am going to focus on saving money, saving time, saving food and not wasting it, saving myself from falling into unnecessary spending and unnecessary other habits that don’t serve me well.
Sounds great Gretchen!
Amen! Yes, you will! Happy New Year Jennifer to you and your family!
My words for the year are Focused and Grateful!
Happy New Year! Thank you so much!
( FAMILY TRADITION / Play games and watch The Thin Man)
Love your word so much LOL!
Happy New Year and happy soups and stews. For the first time in 54 years going to a party. Will get my Chinese food tomorrow on New Year's Day instead of New Year's Eve. My word for the New Year is finish. Finish all my UFO's. Unfinished projects.
Sounds wonderful! Happy New Year LadyD! Thank you so much!
Happy New Year Joni! Thank you so much!
Good for you!
I feel so blessed to have found your channel. It has helped our home so much this past year. Looking forward to a frugal journey together in 2023. My word for 2023 is "Renew".
Happy New Year Vicki! Thank you so much!
My word last year was frugal. This year is "enough" as in I have enough.
Love that!
Happy New Year Pam! Thank you so much!
My word is…gratitude! This word has gotten me through when life happens.
So true!
Happy 2023!
Sounds like a wonderful productive day! Great word too!
And Happy New Year!
Jonna, a very blessed and happy New Year to you as well! Thank you!
Happy New Years!!.. Can't get anymore frugual then working 16 hrs today, New Years Eve day, and 16 hours tomorrow on New Year's. Woohoo.. All overtime.. Saving to start building my little house on my property in SC... Enjoy your Twilight Series...
Happy New Years! It's actually the Twilight Zone LOL!
I guess my word for 2023 will be "commitment". I am committed to decluttering my house, committed to low spend year in order to gain some savings, committed to healthy eating, committed to paying off car and hopefully one of 2 credit cards. If I don't succeed then I give you permission to have me "committed".
LOL! Happy New Year!
"Rebirth" brilliant. I think I'm gonna join you on that one.
I like that one also!
I like it. 👍
Congratulations on ur move. Rebirth is an excellant choice! May you be blessed in ur move and best of luck for the year 2023.
Happy New Year Karen and God Bless! Thank you so much!
Peace 🕊️
Love it!
My word is HEALTH for 2023. ❤️
Your barley soup had me googling the nutrition facts and learning that 1/2 cup barley has almost the same amount of protein as an ounce of meat. That was a very nutritious soup. Looked delicious, too.
It was very good!
My word is security.
Starting the year of with Sunday Mass with the whole family. Lunch after church of “ clean out the refrigerator “ shepherd’s pie, and homemade pumpkin pie and brownies for dessert. Family was forewarned that lunch was not anything fancy. I’ve been freezing the leftover scraps from holiday meals and we’ll see how they come together.🤣🤣
God bless you, Paul and your viewers. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year🎉
Happy New Year Sheila! Thank you so much!
Sounds wonderful Holly!
Sounds great Brenda!
Marie that was so kind and considerate of you! Love that so much!
Wonderful Tika! Thanks for sharing!
Beff barley was my husband's segway into loving soups! Look out, Paul!
YES! Thank you lol!
Happy New Year to you all
That is so wonderful!!
Church on Sunday. Blackeyed peas to begin the New Year. Kindness will be my word for the New Year. Thank you for your encouraging video. May God bless and encourage you for today and the coming year.
Happy New Year Chris! Thank you so much, you as well!
I am going to bed New Years Eve! I can't stay awake past 10 pm now days. hahahah! New Years Day is my last day off before returning to work, so I will be taking it easy.
We can't stay awake either lol!
WOW I just noticed you have 33K subs!! that pretty major!
LOL! Yes! So excited!
Happy New Year Julie Ann! Thank you so much!
Live is my word. Too often I get hung up on the things. Remembering to live my life and enjoy life
Yes! So important Steph!
2023 we welcome ths new year with blessings
Yes! Thank you Kerry!
Staying home and watching football games. Making a big pot of chili and some cornbread!
YUM!!
I usually pick a word but this year I chose a phrase - small steps lead to big goals. I have pork and sauerkraut for New Years.
Great phrase!
My word this year is “refocus”. The last 14 months was a mess. Going through the divorce and dissolving all the stuff we had, I need to refocus on myself and my future.
Great word!
"Making do." I cooked a black bean soup and worked on my 2023 budget. Doing a low-spend year. Eating out of the pantry and freezer first, greatly reduce takeout and eating out, don't let any foods go to waste, and no buying clothes in January and reducing the amount of clothes I buy for the year
Sounds great Barbara!
Alice that is an amazing word!
Happy New Year!
Praying for you for strength and healing within your family and friends. God will direct you and focusing on Him will bring some peace.
Myra I am so sorry...
@@FrugalMoneySaver ❤
@@Lulu-he9dp ❤ thank you for your prayers!
"I am taking next week to have MY Christmas vacation." That is brilliant actually!! Happy New Year!!
Love to you Ally, you are bossing it xxx
Oh Ally...May you have a peaceful anxiety free future! Happy New Year!
Working both days, but enjoying the Hockey Winter Classic on Monday
Happy New Year Lori!
Prepare is my word..NY Eve to a gathering with friends: bring an appetizer & cookies, NY Day, out on our boat with another couple, home & made a traditional Southern Dinner; blackeyed peas/ kielbasa, rice, broccoli, & cornbread
Sounds so wonderful Lexi!
a happy fearless 2023
Happy New Year Caroline! Thank you so much!
Sounds wonderful!
We are staying home. Long term pantry organized. We have family coming in tomorrow. My word for 2023 will be intentional. I plan to make better use of the time I have off work to be better organized and make better choices.
Love that word! Thank you!
I chose " sure" as my word. I could not explain, but it turns out I want to be fearless !
YAY! Love that Loraine!
My word for 2023 is Accountability. I will be focusing on tracking every expenditure in January. Essentials only!
Love that Holly!
Relaxed and baked a cake for our Grandson’s birthday on New Years Eve and invited family for a nice meal of homemade chicken pot pies and salad for an early dinner and then had a birthday party for our Grandson. We even played some cards! Nice day!!
Sounds so wonderful Karen!
You're such a positive and cheerful person, it is therapeutic to watch your videos!
So kind Freddie! Thank you!
We will be staying home for New Years Eve, watching tv, and relaxing. My word for the year will be contentment. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year D G! Thank you so much!
Going to relax at home on New Year’s Eve! Snacks with my dogs! My word is Peaceful!
Love that Gloria!
Great idea!
Persist is my word something to put energy into. New years eve will be a time to stay with my mom in her seniors apartment. She is 84 so I will clean her place and bring in the new year with her. I will go home early Monday. I enjoy her company.
Yup love those Moms 😊
Cheryl enjoy your mom! How I miss mine!
Happy New year, my word for 2023 is motivated, I would like to grow some vegetables to help with the cost of living and get my house and garden sorted once and for all.
Happy New Year Sharon! Thank you so much!
Good luck to everyone for our January challenge! I didn't do very well last year!
Yes! We will all be in in together!
Contentment is my word of the year. I'm embarking on a no-spend year and I'm really excited!
Wonderful!
Oooh I have prime rib bones and all the rest of the soup ingredients. On it!
So good Linda!
We are having family time, I am making chicken wings with homemade fries and dressings. We will be playing cards and watching movies. We always prefer to stay home on New Year's Eve and where we live people around us shoot off fireworks so we can enjoy the free show.
Sounds wonderful!
Wonderful word Allison! Love it!
Hahaha...Aw yes.
Amelia we have watched Svengoolie too! So fun! Yes, God is always with us and He is our strength!
Survival is my word. I have Christmas with my dad's family on Saturday. I have Church on Sunday. I plan on eating through my stockpile next month.
Sounds great! Happy New Year!
Great to see you this afternoon. Your tips are always so helpful. Thank you Emmy, Paul, and even Dixie Belle!!
Happy New Year Susan! Thank you so much!
My word is freedom! I’m seeking freedom in all areas of my life. Happy New Year!
Happy new year Christine!!
We're spending New Years Eve at home, watching videos from the library,. One of my favorite repurposed things are gift bags I make from paper flour and sugar bags. My friends like them so much that I have taught classes on how to make them!
Oh how creative! Sounds wonderful!
Have been waiting for this 🤭🤭🤭
We will be staying home.
Happy New Year! Thank you so much! Wishing you and yours the same!
I just tested positive for covid….. so it’s a stay at home kind of night.
Hopefully I will feel like making some finger foods for my daughters to enjoy.
My word for 2023 is simplicity.
I want to live a more slow and simple life and enjoy life more
I am so sorry to hear that Brandy. Hope you are okay!
Well done at Kohls Fran!
Having Cornbeef and Cabbage for dinner. Watch a movie my sister and I. My word for the new year is Grateful
Love that!
Hope you are feeling much better! I bet your hubby will love the soup LOL!
Trust is my word for the year 2023. Similar to your "fearless".
Love that Carla!
Have a wonderful 2023!
Happy New Year Shirley! Thank you so much!
Sounds so wonderful! Happy New Year Kay!
I watched that same video channel Only in Japan. Awesome wrapping using no or little tape so paper can be reused ❤️
I'm not a believer, but I appreciate your tips for frugal living. Thank you x
So happy our videos are helpful! Happy New Year Julie!
Happy New Year , Dear Emmy and Paul. I'm in France and I have been watching you since a few years . Love your simplicity and transparency in your videos.
Happy New Year Dian! Thank you so much!
Lol)
Sounds like a wonderful evening!
Oh how wonderful! A new fur baby! Love that!
Great share. The barley soup looks great, too. 😋
Thank you so much! It was yummy!
Wonderful tips Pamela!
My word for this year is ingenuity. I am going to make a conscious effort to use what I have before I spend money outside my home. Today, I am canning beef and chicken stock for my shelf and making a batch of artisan bread dough to bake as needed throughout the week.
Wonderful and money saving!
We are going to stay home. Eat snacks from our pantry! Watch videos!🙂 My word is simplicity. Time to declutter and organize in 2023. Thanks for the encouragement and God bless you both!💜💜
God Bless you as well, thank you!
My husband and I will be staying home this evening and eating dinner with his brother and sister-in-law at their home on New Year's day. Hope you and family have a, lovely, enjoyable day. Thank you for all that you share.
Sounds wonderful!
Great idea!!
Bicycle-- I want to lose enough weight to ride one again. New Year's Eve is watch the Ball drop on TV. New Year's Day grilling marked down steaks, baked potato, salad. Then the diets begin. 🤣
Sounds wonderful!!

My word is self-love. It’s time I love myself as much as I love others ❤
Love that Nicky!!
One of my greatest weaknesses is buying books. I always look for deals on used book sites when I hear of a new book I'd like to own. And, of course, I always check my library. But this year I am determined to read the books I already own. I have dozens on my shelves that I have never read.
That's a wonderful goal!
My word for 2023 is grateful. I think new year eve is overrated. Staying home and going to bed normal time lol. Have a great year
You as well Melody, thank you!
