May they never close....QUALITY baby!
True story. In the 70's you could get into Disneyland with general admission ticket that cost a few bucks. No ride tickets -- just enter the park. Well, when Buddy Rich and his Big Band were doing 4-5 sets a day/night it was the bargain of the century. Plus there were always ride tickets on the ground and near the trash cans that folks tossed. So one summer I and my teenage pals saw Buddy and his band 40 times?? Amazing...
There is no other drum shop in the world that comes close to Pro Drum Shop in Hollywood for providing a picture of what the ideal drum shop would be. From the pictures on the wall, which are a slice of history in themselves, to the people who built and keep this legend alive, Pro is hands down the most historically significant drum show in business today.
Still around all these years, the mega music stores can't compete with nostalgia and iconic drumming history, full service drum shop.......The best..
I vividly recall walking down to the Hollywood Pro Drum shop while on my first tour of the Los Angeles nightclub circuit in 1977. The shop was an absolute Mecca to a young drummer and the place reeked of drumming history, from the walls of autographed promo photos down to the parts bins and drums drums drums! I was in awe, glad the shop still stands. I can't wait to see the full dvd.
"The Pro Shop Where the Pro's Shop" an Incredible institution with a lot of Love/Laughs. thanks for the years of impeccable service and friendship "Bob" Stan and Gerry! ...........Gary Faught =:- ) >
Loved this place as I was growing up.
Fabulous! ...... And they seem like family at this point..........
SO COOL!
Can't wait to get a copy!!!
This is great! Looking forward to going there soon.
Wonderful!
Awesome video! Love pro drum. I'd like to see someone do a video of Mel Zelnicks music stop as well in the San Fernando Valley. I'd see Louie Bellson and his brother Henry there all the time. As a matter of fact, my 1st drum lesson was with Henry Bellson.
I loved the picture of Buddy's set., especially the tom mount! Not too subtle an expression of his feelings about Slingerland hardware was he?
I wanna check it out 🥁
LOL Jerry -- you never told me the George Harrison story! SHEESH!
Did this ever come out? Looks like fun!
