Very helpful indeed - thank you. Particularly useful was the use of the needle-nose pliers in addition to the proper tool. Thanks!

Nice explanation mate. Only thing I noticed was you had the connector the wrong way round in the crimping pliers. According to the Superseal manual for crimping it the open end needs to point upwards in your pliers. I’ve been using them for many many years now and never had a problem. As mentioned you should also have a look into the deutsch connectors although the tools come with a rather cheeky price tag. Take care

I wonder whether this superseal actually is water/dust sealing the connectors when they are disconnected. I mean it's not visible from the pictures nor from the video and to be frank, I'd say the seals are there to stop water/dust ingress only when the connection is done.
I am about to make a wire separation point so that I don't have to run with a contraption on my bikes handlebars all the time and rather disconnect it when not in use. Thought of SAE connector that can be seen on Optimate battery chargers, male and female look similiar, one has a rubber cap. It's however impossible to get that female part with cap where I live and it's seems unreasonable to get a cable for optimate charger for a lot more cash and reuse that.

When disconnected the connector pins are not protected from the weather
What you could do is use another connector which dosnt have any cables installed as a cap and just seal the holes for the cables with some silicone

@@OverlandExplorersUK man thanks for that info and superfast reply. I was afraid of that but your suggestion is simple and thus brilliant.

@@OverlandExplorersUK I assume this is true for the Superseal brand, but the Weatherpack connectors have plugs available to seal unused ports, no messy silicone seal required and if you want to use the connector in the future, just remove the plug and you can install a pin or socket with no need to try to remove a silicone mess.

Take a look at the deutsch connector range, also very good.

Yes we have come across them too, they come prewired on Wilderness Lighting products and are great connectors :)

Yes, Deutsch is good as are the Weatherpacks more commonly available in the US. Properly installed, they all do a great job. I slightly prefer the Weatherpack style as there are no loose parts when you need to remove a pin or socket. You have to keep track of the loose wedges with the Deutsch connectors.

I prefer to crimp and solder a little. Way better to me

Solder is aggressive to cuprexit wire if you don't clean it after soldering. Rosin is not good for any material if you don't clean it.

If you don’t have the proper tool, buy the tool and do it right.
