Wow!!! I had one of these in 5 speed transmission. My father purchased it (a 1981) pre-owned as my 1985 h.s. graduation gift. It was sort of metallic gold in color, came with back louvers. I went to Western Auto and ordered chrome/gold wheels. Also, had my windows tinted. Oh baaaaaby, couldn't beat the gas mileage!!! Loved that car ... Toyota, you're the BEST‼️👍🏽👍🏽
That was my first car. I bought it used in 1984. It was the same color. The only difference was mine didn't have the louver. I remember a friend thinking the car was off because the idle was so quiet. I liked the way it handled/steering. I think it was rack and pinion. I was stationed in Northern Michigan and it did surprisingly well in the snow even though it was rear wheel drive That interior is identical to what I had. Thanks for the video!
Nice, I found my current sr5 liftback in palm desert for peanuts. These cars are hidden around the driveways and autoshops of Socal. we got about 2 or a few years before the rest are found/junked.
I had an 81 with the same factory metal louvers. It had the sport wheels (sr option) and I bought it following an 78 Corolla wagon, but writhing two weeks another Corolla ran a red light and totaled it.😢
Actually, like the title to this video said, it’s a sport Coupe. The Toyota Corolla came in five body styles that year, the two door sedan, the Four-door sedan, the five door station wagon, the raky roof two door sport Coupe (per this video) and the flat top two door lift back. I had an SR5 five speed sport coupe that I bought (almost) new in 1981. I had it until 1988. It had just under 200,000 miles on it. It was the best car I ever owned.
