I gotta say this video was honestly a perfect day. I can't say much more about it. I'm glad you guys got to experience ít before the baby comes so you all can enjoy it after he gets here.
I used to own an EVO1 K reg, in the U.K., around the time EVO5’s were new, so not a lot of people knew what my car was, this vid has brought back some amazing memories ❤️
Hearing you speak about old cars when you come in contact with them shows your genuine passion for the car culture. You Normally do awesome vids but this is a great one. 👍
The Evo roof rust issue is due to the type silicone Mitsubishi used inside the roof supports which sweats in the heat and causes moisture inside the roof.
there's something bleak but compelling about seeing old abandoned cars like this still mostly together- makes you wonder what stories it has if cars could talk- migh've been one of the quickest cars on that pass at one time!
Two things. 1- it would be awesome to speak to the owner of the lancer and hear his stories. 2- the car should be like a landmark there. Put the bumper back on and the handle.
Next Episode: We bought another abandoned Evo! Enjoy the video would be so cool if you could track the owner down and here the whole backstory of the evo. Love the content and can’t wait to see future videos like this. All the best 👍
2:20 to explain that issue with the rust in the roof, essentially mitsubishi used a very corrosive glue to put the plastic strips on, of course you can see why that was a problem
The Evo 1 GSR is easy to restore because there is so many parts shared with its base model Lancer produced around 1991-1995 as well as some Mirage models. There are also aftermarket and 3rd party parts still produced for this model.
This video simply made the fact that my birthday is coming tomorrow way more enjoyable after watching and admiring certain parts of what once was in Intial D
Awesome as always !!! Soon we'll get to see the Lucas family with baby in two on these family outings. It'll be awesome to see your son grow up with all this inspiration and see where he ends up in his choices of car culture.
Always fun to see the Initial D spots in videos, let alone be there in person. Poor Evo though, but you are right it does seem like an art piece sitting there. Kinda sad it's just growing old and dwindling down, but somehow it also is soothing let it soul rest there or be retired there with the gorgeous backdrop as an art piece what once was happening. Good music choice on the cinematic as well, hit the right spot.
Thanks so much Sam and May for taking us on an awesome day out! I was a JDM fan boy in the early 2000s and had a fair few JDM cars. I loved Initial D and the culture it represented. I even used to drive around at night looking for like-minded racers and meet ups, aswell as daytime thrashes around the mountainous areas near to where I live. To go and witness the touge for real (via you guys) was a real treat far as youtube goes, and it's exactly what I would do if i was in the area. This is what keeps your channel so fresh and interesting. Cheers guys 🤗
this video and the Evo with the mountains and the touge made me want to go to japan to experience that so bad especially that little cafe it was so cool!!!
Killer vid. Best of luck in the coming weeks, Sam. Evo 5-6 are my favourite years but I've a definite soft spot for the evo 3 and 4. They feature in a couple of old jackie chan movies and I alway thought the looked great.
We need a follow up video to this like the one you did for the abandoned yellow Silvia drift car in Okinawa when you find out it's history. Hope it's not a sad story and the owner is alive and well and just moved on to other things.
cracks me up how you are still geeking out over this stuff, pretty much the same way I did when I visited Haruna (Akina) years and years ago. I would be cool to go back again some day and visit some more of the icons of Initial D.
Sad to see something so rare going to waste....like you said I hope at least a part of it will live on. Loved the recap of initial d....that was my favorite in school.
Love seeing these type of videos, constantly rewatch the old ones. I never knew the back end of the evo 1 looked just like the evo 3 but the evo 3 will always be my favorite.
@@HardwireFlatline Yes Evo 1-3 was based on the same base model Lancer body, then Evo 4 to 6 was based on the next body style, and 7 to 9 the next body style. Evo 10 was the next style but they only made 1 Evo model on that body then discontinued. My favorite is Evo 2 and 3 also
Love this, I’ve just bought an abandoned black fd3s here in the uk, been sat for 13 years with no glass and am going to undertake a full resto. Thinking about starting a channel and documenting the work on it rebuilding the 13b etc
Love this episode. Great to see you enjoying time together. And I get a thrill from visiting places from movies and anime. And best of all, an S2000. I'm rather partial to them.
Hi Sam and May, this video was great! It was wonderful seeing you both enjoy some time together exploring! I hope to see more videos from you both in the future! You both brighten my day! ❤️
Never watched initial D but love drifting and drift history like they showed in Tokyo drift (only fast movie I liked) but really enjoyed seeing these sites in Japan! Please do more of these! Also yu are very lucky as May seems like the coolest girl and so down for the adventure!

Just out of curiosity, I went to check the album in 8:19 and it is apparently a compilation album released by L'Arc-en-Ciel on March 14, 2001 "Clicked Singles Best 13"... Evo's been sitting there for at most 22 years
I think the roof makes the evo appear worse than it is, the front clip doesn't look bad and that's normally a bad area. Would love to see it up on a lift, I bet it's able to be saved
I feel you about the car becoming art but it still stings watching treasure rot. Especially if it’s one of those “it’s not for sale I’m gonna fix it up one day” situations. Ah well, still a good video about a cool place. Sleep while you can before the baby is born!
This is my favourite video that you have done. All the best with the birth of your child 🙏 Hope I get back to Japan 🇯🇵 one day All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
