I read the first four books years ago. Long story short, I watched the movies again after considerable time had passed, and I could've sworn they were missing scenes. It turned out many of the scenes I thought were missing were never put into the movies.
Well I mean really having the ability to speak to snakes doesn't really make you evil its how you use it (I.E Riddle is evil) and I don't really see him purposely having his basilisk do what it did in Harry's second year and Riddles Fifth year the way I see it is just the time that he and the other founders were in (a time when having magic was considered evil by muggles due to the fact that they didn't understand it (sort of like Queenie in Fantastic Beasts (the second one) not understanding why WWII was fought or why bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki gellert didn't show why the wars were fought just the fact that they were going to he fought)
There is no light nor dark. Magic is just that: Magic. In canon, they painted the wizarding community as sheep, reading to believe whatever u throw at them as long as it makes a tiiny bit of sense, and agrees with their emotions. Light families would brand anything they dont understand or fear as dark magic. A simple cutting curse can kill as much as a killing curse can. The only difference being that no one has found shield spell that can protect from the cruciatus or the killing spells. Magic isnt dark nor light. I'd bet if someone cast the most powerful healing spell, but it turns out that the visual effect was black in color, they'd brand him as the darkest wizard to ever live.... They think with their emotions rather than their heads

Ok,I’ve watched all the Harry Potter movies and am almost done with the 5th book I know that Sirius dies and when I read it in the book my brain was like NO DON’T READ IT! And I watched the 6th movie today for the second time and the first time I didn’t’t dare cry when everyone was mourning Dumbledore....This time I did!? Salazar wanted sly and cunning and if you consider the time the founders ruled Hogwarts the witch trials were in full swing muggleborns would have been seen as a threat due to their families and that many of those kids might not have known how to read or write as schooling was more often than not only affordable to the wealthy and girl children were seen and ridiculed as nothing more than bargaining chips for political gain so it seems that Salazar wanted to protect the children and the magical world from muggles by being a bit harsh with muggleborns I am a southern I was sorted into slytherin by the pottermore website and if you look at history that's the way things were it's horrid but that's history and once again Salazar Slytherin favored sly and cunning

I always thought that Salazar Slytherin was a misunderstood person. I believe that he wasn’t ever truly dark, but just had ideas that were deemed so.
