Folks salty about Michkov. Danny is a good GM. He knows how to play the game. Michkov is far ahead of Demidov. He's been playing against men not boys like demidov.
Guys really !!!! Babrov knows and spoke to everyone in russia !! Jesus its a billion dollar organiszation you think there stupide or what !! One serevallie is enough in this world !😂😂😂😂😂
Mitchkov will make Hughes/Gorton look silly when he scores 40+ in a couple of years. If Reinbacher turns out to be a 3-4 D then they surely made a mistake. I think we all had a feeling that they were not going to to take Mitchkov. I don't understand why they did not pick Ryan Leonard instead.
Time to move on from Michkov. Habs passed on him and took Reinbacher, end of story! This coming draft is the key. Habs will hopefully obtain 2 top 6 forwards, 1 at #5 pick and the other by trading up in the draft with the #26 pick and a prospect or two.
I think everyone underestimates Mailloux, he has top pairing potential and 1st PP pairing at least! He's good enough that drafting another D man at 5 is a waste! Grab Demidov or Senecke they will crush hard in 2- 3 years!
I got over the Michkov thing quickly. Reinbacher is virtually a sure-thing to be, at worst, an excellent second pairing guy. His ceiling is to be an excellent top pairing guy. He's the kind of piece you need to win championships. Michkov was more of a gamble and Hughes and Gorton didn't want to roll the dice. End of story. Move on.
I like how we're expected to care more the feelings of the scouts in regards players attitude as if it justifies skipping over potential elite talent year after year since the late 80s. Maybe they should find guys who score instead of doing animal personality tests like teenage girls.
Love the pod, you guys have great info and throughtful analysis 👌Personally I don't think the Michkov's contract had anything to do with the Habs passing on him because there's no evidence supporting that. On the flip side, many scouts across the league had issues with Michkov's game, and rumblings of a questionable attitude emerged leading up to the draft. Some chalked this up to anti-russian bias within hockey circles, but you don't see any of that with Demidov this year. We are also judging Reinbacher much too quickly I feel, have we learned nothing from Slaf's first year? Defenseman take longer too, let's give him at least 2-3 more years. If he turns into a Slavin type, no one will question the pick and the Habs won't regret it one bit.
I feel it's not fair to not mention that mitchkov didn't wanted to come play here. He wanted to be in Philly. Time to put this to bed. Can't wait in 7 months when they're gonna be 'oh the pressure is really on reinbacker', yeah the pressure you helped create by constantly focusing on this. Where was that energy when Mitchkov was benched ?
Jake Evans is extremely underated! Watching him live has great hands, hustles hard, good at forcing turnovers, defensively and in the dot! Definitely worth keeping, even if he ends up on wing or the 4th line!
Habs bet and they loose … no one understand why they pass on Michkov and now everyone know they made a mistake and they look bad … they had everything in place to take a hit but prefer the old boring Habs way… we will wait and see but everyone know whats gonna be the outcome…threres no elite players in this franchise since 30 years this is laughable and sad
The Flyers may have wanted Reinbacher _with_ Michkov, but not instead of him. The reported offer was that they would trade Gauthier for the 5OA, so in that case they'd have picked fifth and seventh.
Love the discussions. Appreciate the ''devil's advocate" perspectives; but I believe that we will choose the best combination of talent and '? personality fit' Hughes/Gorton have been Ultra sensitive about who they will let into the room. And. Sorry Mr. V, but Winnipeg Jets development remains questionable at best.
I wouldn't be surprised to not make any moves until they make their pick at 5. If they pick a Dman, then that gives them the flexibility to trade one of their better D prospects. So i wouldn't be surprised to see a trade only happen after their first pick.
Lets wait and see regarding Michkov. He is a very talented young man, time will tell if he can ever become a star. However, forget about Demidov, he will be already gone. So Montreal would have possibly struck out 2 years in a row with russian players.
not a habs fan, I find you guys have some of the best analysis / insight available. Draft talk especially
🎵basuuu an godeeeeehn knowbooooo 🎵
there is not a defenseman in my top 5

Trade back with the Flames so they can take Iginla, then draft Sennecke or Eiserman.
Sennecke is top five
Folks salty about Michkov. Danny is a good GM. He knows how to play the game. Michkov is far ahead of Demidov. He's been playing against men not boys like demidov.
Who cares about Mitchkov
Rather have a solid top 4 RD than a diva Russian that didn’t want to go to Habs in the first place

Absolutely, it looks like catton, eiserman or iginla could be available as low as 14th
@@jerryrikki9466 Hi Jerry, I don't see Iginla going as low as 14th however if Catton or Eiserman are available hopefully Habs will make a move.
I look forward to your show every week!
THE BASU AND GODIN NOTEBOOK
Loved the podcast as usual. Friday can't come soon enough. Iginla is my pick.

Siliayev will drop. Habs won't pick him.
Gotta do better than Pascal Vincent - we need someone fresh.

Sorry Canada, the streak continues. I was rooting for you this time
I think the Habs top 5 is my top 5: Demidov, Lindstrom, Sennecke, Iginla, Buium.
Why you always talk about the HABS for mitchkov 6 team pass on him?????
AND the flyers wanted to trade up to 5 for Reinbacher and it's rarely brought up.

Theres no accountability in the Habs space… thats why this team has been a joke since 30 years …
great convo as always guys. newer to the show, but ill be back for all of next season
No how many passed on michkov !? And the flyers wanted rienbacker !
No they didn’t bro, keep coping

Because they thought michkov would be gone, and reinbacher wouldn't be...

Ottawa acquire Ullmark for Korpisalo, 2024 1st Rd pick and Mark Kastelic and Ottawa retain 25% of Korpisalo $4 million.

you guys forget theres other forwards that went after Reinbacher, theres other players like leonard who could make this a foolish pick
6 other teams passed on Michkov, he wasn't even the first Russian player taken in the draft.
Michkov is a smaller (and nearly a year older at the draft) version of Cole Eiserman.
Your show has greatly improved good job 👍
Silayev played on the right side most of last season
jets can easily trade Rutger an ehlers for marner. makes sense to me.
The next Bas(u'Go)din team
Passing on Michkov is going to be a disaster for the next 15 years
I think so as well, only good reason to not pick him is if they were told he did not want to be drafted by MTL.
For me the top 3 for Mtl is
Demidov, Iginla, Iginla 😉
Demidov .... Sennecke .... Buium
Watching this, I'm reminded why Arpon Basu single-handedly made me end my subscription to the Athletic
Love you show! But you guys have to stop talking over each other and actually listen to what the other one is saying. My 2 cents
