- A woman was caught on camera attacking a bus driver in South Los Angeles Sunday, and the bus driver fought back.

Yep. Even here in Sydney, people commit fare evasion, but here, you have to tap on and off rather than just a single tap. If you tap only once, then, you get charged the full daily fare.

this happens a lot when I ride the bus. A homeless person will attempt to get on without bus fare, they ask to be let on for free, the bus driver says no and they get confrontational. Let bus drivers carry and let them use it if any passenger breaks through the driver's plastic wall.
Show the begining of the video where the passenger instigated the fight when they reached around the barrier for the driver. The barriers dont protect the drivers.
I'm impressed that the driver used her legs to push her out of the bus rather than just her arms. I wonder if she's had some basic martial arts training...

Either that driver said something to provoke that passenger or they already had beef before. I ride the bus with homeless people and drug addicts every day, but I never saw one attack a driver. A few of them got aggressive but never violent towards a driver. It's funny how the media makes people seem like they're crazier than they really are.

Most of the time operators will give you a free ride if you ask politely. Fare for Dash is only 75 cents. She must've had an attitude or repeatedly tried to ride for free.
When I lived in New York, most of the time, the bus drivers gave me a free ride cause they know I was a civilized person.
Here in Australia, I stick with trains or trams cause buses in general arrive late.

Use your brain. If she doesn't want to pay and gets on the bus. Let her. Call the police and let them board the bus on your route. Avoid possibly getting stabbed or hurt. This is basic training material. It should be taught to these drivers instead of just handing them the bus keys.

In New Zealand, if someone doesn't have any more money on his/her bus card, the driver usually lets them on and tells them to top up money on their card the next time they take the bus
