- Iriomote Island is one of the largest remote islands in Japan belonging to Okinawa Prefecture, which was registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2021. Despite being in Japan, the island has a subtropical maritime climate, rich nature, jungles, and mangroves, and Mt. Iriomote rises in the center of the island, which is home to plants and animals unique to Iriomote Island. Iriomote Island is known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and diving and snorkeling spots.
Outdoor activities such as trekking and canoeing can also be enjoyed.
In the southern part of the island, there are many attractions such as Yakugasira Falls, which is called the Galapagos of the East, an attractive place for nature lovers and adventurous travelers, and boasts a magnificent scale that is unique among the Yaeyama Islands.
