A touching Secret Santa surprise for a husband with a brain tumor and a wife battling breast cancer

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
In June, Drue Russell was found to have a large tumor on his brain stem. There were multiple complications after surgery and he spent over two months in the University of Utah ICU. He was then transferred to an LTACH following a transfer to EIRMC's Rehab Unit. He was discharged after spending 99 days in a hospital setting and currently has a trach to help him breathe along with a feeding tube for nourishment. Taking care of Drue is a full-time job.
Just after Drue was admitted to rehab, his wife, Sarah, was diagnosed with breast cancer and two weeks before taking her husband home, she had surgery and is beginning radiation.
Sarah is the guardian for her developmentally delayed sister and continues to battle each challenge as it comes with grace and acceptance. She has remained positive while uplifting to everyone around her. She now fights for her health while advocating for her husband and another family member that she has been caring for prior to all of this.
Her upbeat attitude is amazing. She has said many times that God has given her these challenges and He will help her through them.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to go visit the Russells with an early Christmas gift. Watch the video above to see the surprise!

@@shmodzilla I am 51 years old and only pop vitamins. Just thinking of the sick Americans who cannot afford the insurance or get huge healthcare bills. I can’t imagine the stress when you are already sick. In Canada when I turned 50, every Canadian gets mailed a stool test kit and for women a mammogram test. All at no cost. My doctor sends me for a blood and urine check every year or two at no cost. Preventative medicine is key.

My mom is 8 years breast cancer free as of July 19th of this year! I don't take every day that I have with her and my dad for granted, and I am so blessed to have them both in my life! If my mom beat breast cancer, then so will you! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!

I just came across these videos today. I live in NY so am not familiar with Nate, but 100% agree. He is amazing in this role. Kind, caring, respectful and you can tell he really likes to see people get the help they need. With so much garbage on the Media airwaves today, this is a long overdue and welcome relief to see. Kudos to each and every one of you that is involved in the Secret Santa project.

This is an eye opening. I always thought that life was so unfair to me. And yet my burdens are way too light compare to burdens these people are carrying.
I know; I have severe chronic pain and sometimes feel sorry for myself but it's a summer breeze compared to many of the people featured in these stories 😔
I wish and pray they are healthier now. I would have given up if I was one of them. I admire your strength though I was a year late.
I wonder too how they are doing, pray that they are doing even stronger than they were here.
I'm amazed how she mentally remembers in detail the cancer story. I had a cancer issue and my brain was foggy, last thing I wanted to do was talk about the details. Shes doing amazing and he is too. Cancer makes you value life more and know whose their for you in your worse moments.

This woman is the bravest, hard-working, ANGEL on this planet! Look at all she has to do to take care of everyone else. And now SHE is battling cancer in addition to taking care of everyone. Seeing people like this, who are dealing with such life-changing, life-limiting events with such grace and peace, it makes me ashamed to feel bad about anything I'm going through.
