    Hi Jasmine, thanks again for yet another informative video! I live and work in Toronto near the Yonge/Bloor area and I am trying to see if I can work from the Caribbean since we are now working remotely due to the pandemic. I currently pay $1,800 for a one-bedroom, which as you know is a steal in this area these days! I was just wondering if you have a general idea of how much a two-bedroom apartment would cost in a safe and populated area near or on the beach? Trying to do my own research but without having been there, it's hard to know. If you know of an average price that'd be helpful!! I just need the name of some good neighborhoods so that I can research on my own and not bother you to much! Lol

      Hey there, I'm not too sure tbh. I haven't signed a lease there since 2019, and I haven't been back since the pandemic started. I've heard prices have been increasing since I left, but as you're learning, they don't get posted online and I haven't poked around for much detail tbh.
      Cayman is pretty safe in general. You can't really go wrong with most locations. I've lived in Savannah, George Town, South Sound, and Red Bay. All safe locations... Savannah was the only area a little more in "bush" and farther away from the beach, but even that was only like a 5-10 min drive lol. Most people tend to choose their area based on commute time (traffic is really bad in recent years, especially if you work in George Town but live outside of Town) and/or distance to the beach. Playing around Google Maps and Street View might be a good way to explore those areas remotely to see if there are any that you like the look/feel of.
      A 2-bedroom, back when I last browsed rentals, couldn't be found for less than $2,400-$2,800/month, KYD (Cayman Dollars, which is more than USD, keep in mind). My fam paid less than that but we rent from a family friend. Might be even more depending on how close to the beach (and which beach). Many rentals also don't include utilities, and from what I've heard, people have had their utility bills double recently, so make sure to budget at least a few hundred $$ extra in your monthly costs for that.
      I know this is probably not what you want to hear - but if you're not comfortable with maybe having a real estate agent help you look from afar, and/or if you can't find anything online (I wouldn't trust rentals listed on ecaytrade too much either, if you've found those yet lol), you are probably looking at a necessary trip to get to know the island a bit, what areas you feel comfortable in, and to see what you can actually get for your money. Word-of-mouth and meeting people in-person can often find you a way better deal than going through an agent or listing. As you're learning, Cayman doesn't post a lot of this kind of stuff - job listings, rental listings, etc - on the internet. The only place you can find some reputable rental listings online is probably Century 21 Cayman's website. Their site is annoying to use, but it's a jumping-off point lol: century21cayman.com/en/s/residential/for-rent
      Good luck!

      @@JasmineDreams Hi Jamine, thank you SO much for your detailed reply and I will definitely take your advice on all your points. I may even have to consider other cheaper destinations. I used to work as a destination rep for a major canadian tour operator and lived in the DR and Mexico for about 7 years, and although the cost of living is significantly lower than in Cayman, the security factor is not always there. Anyways, thanks again and I hope you and hubby get to return to the island very soon! All the best 😊

    What about person with a carricom certificate

    • @JasmineDreams
      @JasmineDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe Cayman has been a CARICOM member since about 2002. I might be wrong on that though, best to check the CARICOM website for the most updated information.
      Great question, though! I'll have to look into the current details to discuss it in my next update video on this topic. Thanks for watching & commenting! :)

      Venus' comment above is great advice. You may also be able to find an employer hiring for what you do if you're qualified in some type of more specialized role that there may not be many qualified Caymanians to fill. You can always reach out to employment agencies on the island, and I also offer a weekly newsletter with job postings and job seeker tips to my top tier Patreons. Best of luck with the job search! :)

    What about using LinkedIn for jobs in Cayman?

    • @JasmineDreams
      @JasmineDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a very useful tool for networking with Caymanian workers and employers, but you still won’t see many actual live job postings on there. They just don’t post much online in general in Cayman. Only talent agency websites sometimes post jobs on their websites but I’m not even sure how accurate those are - it could just be to get new job applicants coming in regularly
