    I am going to get a Russian Tortoise and I have researched a lot on it but can yall give me feedback on if I need a reptile heating pad and a heating light bulb or just the bulb? Thanks. Also what substate would I use...I am about to order the zoo med eco earth and reptile sand to mix together. Is that a good mixture (if no please tell me what type)

    I've got an important question that is really perplexing to me - is it normal for a turtle to bury themselves in dirt? Should I do something about it? I heard him scratching through the dirt in his box and then burying his face in it. He's a small lil baby, I thought he would suffocate or something.

    • @sabinaalexis6246

      They like to burrow my box turtle covers himself up every day. He wont suffocate. Make sure to keep the substrate moist so he doesnt dry out too

      There's a rule... The enclosure has to be 10 times the length of your tortoise (squared) example: a foot long tortoise would need a 10 foot, by 10 foot enclosure. 🙂 hope that helps... It depends on the size of your leopard tortoise

      @LorisHartland 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jackers Crackers .. box turtles need higher humidity than Tortoises, so outdoor enclosures with a shallow water pool or a very large tank of eco earth & a water supply of some sort :) and if course all the other things needed. Sorry just saw your comment and wanted to help, I just rescued a box turtle, he's on my channel 💗🐢

    • @nathanielfrechette4370
      @nathanielfrechette4370 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not at all! Box turtles need a body of water unlike tortoises. www.diffen.com/difference/Tortoise_vs_Turtle

    • @6strings735
      @6strings735 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with the others. Too small for a box turtle, and boxies need to soak often. They do best outside. A big plastic stock tank like a Rubbermaid 50 gal can work much better than the Zoo Med tortoise house.
