As an "old guy", my favorite strings were a combo of D'addario XL and Boomer customs. For all of my Gibson/Epiphone axes, it was straight ahead XL 009's. For my Fenders, it was boomer custom .008 to .040 sets. Over the past 20 years or so, I shifted to all D'addario for simplicity in purchase. While digging through an ad mail from PremiereGuitar, I saw the ad for Stringjoy. Jumping on their website, I discovered their Custom option. Holy Moley, I can get my old touch on my Fenders again! I quickly placed an order for 3 sets of custom strings for my Strats and a Tele. Got them yesterday and putting them on today.

I purchased a couple of sets of Foxwood (12-54) lights. I've been using Elixirs for a while and I thought based on the video, I would try them. I put the strings on my HD-28 Custom grand Ole Opry and I must say they are fantastic. The tone is what surprised me. I typically don't review much stuff but I thought this was worth writing it up. Thanks Jeremy for continuing to provide useful content

I am a Stringjoy subscriber. I love the strings and the history of the company. The guys who work there are awesome. So I got an email from them about the Foxwood strings. I ordered a set and strung then on a all Honduran Mahogany Breedlove concert. When I got the new strings in tune, I leave them hanging on the stand for 24 hours so the guitar and the strings get to know one another. Right before I was going to get the guitar out and try the new strings, I watched your video. I absolutely love these strings. They just sing from top to bottom. I am curious to see how long they last. I have very acidic skin so coated strings tend to degrade after a month or so. Thanks so much for the video. Very timely.

Excited to check out the Foxwoods! The one nice thing with XS, well a couple. 1 is Player Points & that once a year D'Addario does the 999 point XS set. Also, GC regularly has them at 20% off, or you can log in to GC, then go back for a week, and they'll send ya a 20% off that you can use :) That's how I've fed my XS addiction thus far. Have yet to pay more than $14 for a set yet. With that said, I'm hoping to be as blown away or more with the Foxwoods. If they can do 5 months without dying or tarnishing badly then I'll be happy. XS average about 1 to 1.5 hours a day of play time, and they went 5 months before finally dying & not staying in tune. Elixr's went 4 months.

So just to clarify, the Foxwoods are the new name for the costed strings Jeremy really seems to like and has been testing for a year? I’m only asking because people seem to have been reviewing the strings on their site for several weeks now - maybe Jeremy made this video a while ago? Anyway, just want to make certain we are talking about the same strings.
I have preferred the D’addario XT Phosphor Bronze. I tried the XS once courtesy of some samples D’addario offered to me. I definitely like the more balanced sound of the XT’s that get more Bass when I dig into the low E, A, and D. The XS sounded a bit less muddy overall, but it was too bright for my tastes. I actually prefer the coating on the XT’s even though it adds some squealing noise while sliding between notes. I found the XS to be much quieter, but they were a little too slick for my fingers, which sometimes slipped off the sides of the strings.
I’ve said that I’d love a string that takes all the things I love about the XT’s with a less muddy/blurred tone while strumming and less squeal like the XS. The next time I need strings (I still have some free packs thanks to reward points, samples, etc.), maybe I’ll give these new StringJoys a go. The price definitely falls between the XT and XS range, and it sounds like they have some added qualities I’ve been hoping for.

Yes, I have had the string lab coated strings for almost a year and have really liked them. They don't feel slippery like elixirs, which sometimes is good, but these still feel very musical like regular guitar strings. They've changed their name to the foxwood from string lab.

Round cores will also let go of the windings when you wear through them on the frets. I love them, but about 2 weeks of daily play is what I get from them. I've been playing DR Pure Blues, but I've just picked up some Stringjoys for my next change in their nickel over round style.

Jeremy, old video so not sure if you are still reading, but I just put a set of the foxwoods on my FG3. The good, my FG3 finally found some strings it likes and that made it sound good all over the whole fretboard. Really good actually. The negative, and Im not sure if it was just my set, or if they are all like these, but these took about a week of hard playing 2+ hours every day for them to settle down and to hold a tune well. I even tried to stretch them a bit it was so bad at first. Now that they have settled in they are probably the best strings I have ever had on this guitar. They are very, um, lively strings I guess is the best way I could put it. I love the feel of them. Not unstable/slick like the elixers Ive tried in the past. Not quite natural feeling either. A good blend between a natural and coated feel.

My only complaint with Stringjoy strings is that the wire wrap sometimes extends too far away from the ball-end of the string. Therefore, the stiff wrapped portion of the string often protrudes above the bridge and seems to decrease the break angle over the saddle. This occurs with my Martins and Taylors. I really like the availability of custom string gauges.

Just put a set of foxwood phosphor bronze light (12's) strings on a new guitar. Love the tone but they seem to be extremely noisy and squeaky to me. I can't do slides anymore because when I initialize the slide there a horrible creak or squeak as my fingers break away. They just feel like there's too much initial friction and it's all string not the fretboard. Yes I can employ a complete lift all the time but these are so much more annoying and noisy than my Elixir strings which don't require me to be extra careful. I'm trying to see if they quiet down with more playing but an A to B test to Elixir nanoweb and especially polyweb strings tells me these coated strings are a bit more sticky and rougher sounding. I really wanted to love these strings but getting close to cutting my losses. Wondering if maybe I got a bad set or something.

Those Broadways are supposed to be all nickel. I played DR Blues Pure Nickels for a while. I Liked that when you put them on, they did not sound super bright like a new set of D'Addarios. They sounded great and seemed to retain the good tone longer than the strings I played my whole life which were too bright at first, mellowed to perfection then started to degrade. The problem was that fairly soon the DR Blues, on the wound strings, the windings would wear through at the frets. I would end up with these little sections of string winding that could potentials spin around the core if you weren't careful. Granted I haven't done any real gigging in 10 years or so, I don't feel the need to spend money keeping all of my guitars with fresh strings constantly. I loved that the tone was great, they felt great and seemed to hold on to that tone but the nickel is obviously a softer metal than steel. So, I am back to the multicolor ball end normal D'A XL's. Do the Broadways do this too?

These strings were absolute trash. If their strings were half as good as the marketing behind them they’d really have something. Rough feeling, left my fingers filthy, sounded bland. I guess all it takes is a bunch of TH-camrs giving glowing reviews and relentless Facebook ads and you too can market a mediocre product to the masses and have them believe it’s something special. These strings are laughably bad.

I made a similar comment on Dylan Talks. I guess he’s also in the lineup to market this new string. I live close to Nashville l want them to be great but TH-cam marketing gets cringe at times and it’s just a bit too obvious

I’m only concerned with tuning stability on tremolo equipped guitars, I don’t care about equal tension. This is my care about.

The video starts at 4:00 before that is this dude desperately telling you the company didn't pay him for this review and bragging about being recognized in airports so just skip ahead

They're not paying me. StringJoys are good, not excellent and definitely not for everyone or every string change.

Good strings. Nothing special as I can tell. Better than Ball but not Dadario or Martin.

I agree for the most part, the coated are definitely better.

I moved to Stringjoy for my acoustics (from Elixir Nanowebs) because I play fingerstyle and my wound G string (F# - Open D) always got micro-frayed and died long before the rest. I like Stringjoys because they are uncoated.
