Delta Empire is INCREDIBLE. He has great drum production, and he hits so hard and with such intent...very precise, no wasted motions. I have no idea who he is, but he is a monster on the kit.
He does all kinds of covers ..but he is a Beast .his set up and studio..he has to be someone we all have seen on stage or something.. he to dam good not to be professional.
I've been a fan of Nine inch Nails for most of my life, like 34 years now that I'm 41. This is one of the very best covers I've ever seen of their music and specifically difficult to play this song on drums. Great video!
Huge NIN fan. I love this song . That said, I always assumed the percussion was done mostly on synth. Watching it performed by an actual drummer is mind blowing!
When Trent originally recorded Perfect Drug it was all on drum pads mixed with several diff samples. That’s why they never used to play it love because of the complexity, but along comes Ilan Rubin and that changed. Ilan plays a mix of live drums and samples
@@jse112584 That was just one of several excuses Reznor made, he also said the solo was too hard, neither one holds up to scrutiny, also the drummer who played on it originally has said he'd have happily played it live. Really Trent seems to just not like the song, he said he wouldn't even put it in his top 100 of his own songs, but fans love it, so seems like really he wanted an excuse for not playing it.
He is a session drummer and released instrumental metal albums. Delta is his persona. He's better known for his incredible drum covers (his Pantera covers are absolutely sick). Delta is totally anonymous, but he has a secretary called Lars (yeah, also Delta). His drumkit is one of the most beautiful i've ever seen, the drum setup is similar to Vinnie Paul's (Pantera) setup, he also got the same punch. The mix of his drumkit is totally badass, imo there's only Alex Rudinger's drums that sound even better. You definitely should put him on your list for more reactions... ♥
I've played Vince's kit before(long story short, I'm from Arlington). Delta has the exact same kit, from what I can tell. The only difference MIGHT be the throne height lol. Vince was a short fella, and I'm saying that as a 6ft tall individual. I'm average height for my demographic. I played the kit from the Revolution is My Name video. The green one. I actually jammed with the first Damageplan bassist, KT(is the dude from the Dimevision vol 1 video that gets the fireworks to the nuts while he's sleeping on Dime'z couch). He's dead now, too. 3/4 of the original members of that band have passed. It's crazy.

(I could also argue about that period being "fertile" as he just kept on postponing the Fragile album, and this was one of the very few things he released during those 5 years between The Downward Spiral and Fragile...but whatever...

There is no comparison to what Chris helped arrange for this song back in '97. Appreciate you and the community for introducing me to different drummers, styles, genres that I haven’t heard and revisiting old favorites in a new light. If you haven’t seen Meute, you may not know that you need to see an eleven-piece “techno” marching band (4 members drums/percussion) perform live on an incredible rooftop in Hamburg - look for Meute RAW live video. 🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼
So, Trent Rezner has a knack for writing music that's not really designed with live play in mind, and then going back and figuring it out later when it's time to tour. The Perfect Drug is notorious for being one of the few they were never really able to figure out, although they did manage to play it live a couple of times on their last pre-COVID tour. It made heavy use of drum'n'bass and breakbeat influences, which was kinda wild considering it was written for a movie soundtrack. Obviously, that's gonna be hard on a drummer, and considering it was always more of a deep cut rather than a hit, most fans just sort of assumed it wasn't worth the effort making the poor guy's arms fall off trying to replicate that drum solo.
Delta had the absolute best tribute to Joey Jordison of them all. It is to loaded with feeling and absolutely not the song you would think someone would do from the slipknot catalogue, but it is the absolute perfect one.

The coolest thing about Delta's channel is the variety of styles he covers and the inevitable rabbit hole he forces you into. Stuff I hadn't heard in ages elevated by his massive sound. Listen to his Adele cover. Yes, Metalhead suggests Adele. Far superior to the original for me. 'Take a look around' is a song his snare will remember as the day it finally reached puberty.
Trent is like a conductor live. Seeing The Perfect Drug live 3 times, I lose my breathe as soon as I hear him yell “GO!”. You should review the Ilan Rubin live version from when they played in Mexico.

He’s NINs current drummer and was selected by Trent after he watched Ilan rubin aged 20 playing for Lost Prophets! Imagine being 20 years old and rock and roll legend Trent Reznor hand selects you after your performance to be in his award winning band. Oh and thanks to this piece of history Ilan is now the youngest inductee to the rock and roll hall of fame.

Delta worships Vinnie Paul. Apart from the cymbals, Delta’s setup is almost identically to Vinnie’s ... even down to the rake on the mounted toms.
