I’m so over the term “glove tanned leather”. That process hasn’t been used for nearly 100 years. glove tanned leather used to be tanned using dog sh*t, it was collected by the poor and sold to the tanneries by the bucket full. It was known as "pure" and it was a well organized business. The very best gloves were made using the white dog sh*t that you sometimes see…this was kept seperate and sold at a premium price. water was added to the stuff, and it was made into a slurry that the skins were soaked in for a period. The reason the leather produced this way is so soft and flexible is because enzymes in the slurry digested various elements in the skin. leather is still made this way in North Africa, but they use bird droppings instead as there aren't as many dogs there, I dare say that in the west some form of synthetic chemical is now used to get the same result! PLEASE don’t think a product is glove tanned leather when all it is now is tanned (usually genuine) leather. You’re not buying a better product bc it says glove tanned. You are buying low quality leather marketed to those who don’t know better.
@@itsalexmimi I wasn’t specifically referring to you or your purchase but in general. I find it yet another shady market practice to deceive the consumer. It can be quite annoying IMO thinking about how many times I spent hard earned money on an item only to learn the hard way it was dressed in dramatic flounce and overpriced. I feel the same about marketing as “eco friendly” when essentially the consumer is buying scraps. The luxury community isn’t what it used to be.
I just order a field tote 22 and had it gift wrapped and it was still factory wrapped. I think it just depends on if you are getting it from the Florida warehouse or a retail location.

I had no clue, but I didn't buy the bag for the reason of being a "nicer" leather, I just loved the style. Thank you for the information!! ❤️
