Join us on an unforgettable journey from Aura Homestay near Gangtok to the mesmerizing town of Zuluk, riding our KTM Adventure 250 and Yamaha FZs. Accompanied by our friend Biky in his WagonR, we embark on an adventure filled with stunning landscapes and unexpected challenges.
Highlights of Our Trip:
- Tsongmo Lake: A serene, high-altitude lake with breathtaking views. We also rode the ropeway here, enjoying a stunning top view of Tsongmo Lake, Kanchenjunga, and Bhutan from the highest point.
- Natu La: An exhilarating ride to the Indo-China border, with Biky and his wife joining us as pillions after leaving their car behind.
- Baba Mandir: A sacred and historical place, rich with stories and spirituality.
- Kupup Lake & Elephant Lake: Scenic spots that offer a peaceful retreat amidst nature's beauty.
Road Conditions:
The journey was both thrilling and demanding, with winding roads, serene nature, and very few patches of rough terrain. The scenic beauty was complemented by the challenging road conditions, making the ride an adventurous experience.
Challenges Faced:
After Kupup, we encountered extremely harsh weather conditions, battling heavy snowfall and rain. The storm hit us hard just before reaching Zuluk, bringing visibility to almost zero. We struggled through the biting cold and slippery roads, fully drenched and exhausted.
Accommodation Hiccup:
We arrived at Izifiso Zuluk Homestay only to find our booking wasn't honored. Despite this, we managed to find another homestay and made the best of our situation.
Next Morning:
We visited Thambi View Point, witnessing the stunning zigzag roads of the Sikkim Silk Route. The view was absolutely worth every bit of the journey.
