Britain is and was always part of Europe...Brexit was about leaving the political entity of the EU because (obviously) you can't leave your geographical continent. Your headline is as nonsensical as saying "Nigeria to fix broken relationship with Africa".

UKIP and the Brexit Party had the most UK MEPs and they hardly brought about a constructive relationship (the Tories were not much better as the other EU members were their whipping boy for UK problems). Outside the EU we have compounded this by behaving disgracefully: refusing to honour agreements in full and with little respect for rules or laws or even the basic notion of working together for the common good in the spirit of cooperation.

    • @straightouttacornwall

@@straightouttacornwall What about the breaking of the law 'in a limited and specific way' of the Internal Market Bill, or the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill that was just withdrawn (with the recent deal by Sunak) after being used as a threat to override parts of the Northern Ireland Protocol unilaterally (a key part of our leaving the EU and the subsequent relationship that we had agreed and signed into law), or the Retained EU Law Bill which will get rid of thousands of laws, standards and regulations we had amassed as EU members of 40 years all at once, without time to replace them and despite our commitment in the Trade and Cooperation Agreement to a level playing field?
If that isn't enough the UK was found guilty in 2021 of breaching the law on EU clean air standards when we were members (and continuing to breach them now).

Jumping out of one frying pan into another isn't a solution. We need one of these parties to have a backbone and actually offer a realistic solution or at the very least, a clear path for the country's economy, living standards, the health service and tackling crime.

It's not wrong at all, in fact it would be far more successful and beneficial than the disastrous one with the Tories. @@macred Nick Clegg is long gone and that coalition is a stain on the Lib Dems' record. I think most Lib Dems realise this now.
The current Tories are certainly not on the same page and the Lib Dems have always been closer to Labour given they too are a progressive party.
The trouble with the Labour party of 2005-2010 is that they had drifted so far rightwards that there seemed to be little difference between 2010 Cameron and Tony Blair. However, once in power that difference grew and it was a disaster (barring a few Lib Dem policy victories).
