The idea is good, but I would have turned the bolt heads - in the middle. Previously in the center of each head drilled hole 3 mm in diameter and scored in his small piece of nail. So you can create a larger fixing force and work more safely. Mark Fisher. Ukraine.

I've watched 4 or 5 other videos of people making their own lathe Chuck.. yours is by far the simplest and the most effective at holding the piece ( all the others usually had to still have the tail stock on while turning, defeating the whole purpose for a Chuck). Nice work. Also, you get bonus points for turning the goblet. That's the perfect piece to show off the effectiveness of this project. Keep it up!

I sure glad you posted this vid / I have bin look for the right idea , an you gave it to me on a silver platter / I am a Cooper I make Buckets Beer stines / butter churns an wash tubs, all by hand no mechines / I want to hold a stave bucket that is 11" tall 8" bottom 9" top ,I want to turn it on a lathe inside an out / your vid showed me I can put each end in your diy chuck with the screws hold it an turn it smooth with a steady rest / diy 3pcs of angle iron 2 pcs 3/8 all thread an 3 -2" poly wheels so they don't mar the wood ----thank you for your idea 💡

As usual another awesome build!! Great video, you make things seem sooooo easy!!! I have a question: would it be better to file the ends of the 4 screws to a point in order to secure smaller pieces of wood? Or is this configuration enough? I've always wanted a lathe, and have seen several good ideas, but a good diy chuck was analways an issue. Now I do not have any excuses. Aleykümselam Alper Bey, kullandığım ahşap kontrplak bu videoda çember için kullandığım 14 mm taban için kullandığım 10 mm. Mdf hareketli parçalarda kullanmak için uygun bir malzeme değil maalesef
