- Mindanao hasn't got the best reputation with tourism but that's going to change! It feels safe here and all the locals are super welcoming in keeping with the usual Philippines friendliness.
We 'camped' Claveria in a place called JILAs Smallville and had the most beautiful morning. Story loved it and even spent her time drawing the view that she saw.
After we checked out we visited the famous Claveria viewdeck but couldn't get in, so we grabbed some dragon fruits and set off for Cagayan De Oro to continue our journey.
Our names are Jmayel, Sacha & Story. We traveled to Siargao island with Jmayel's mum & Story's grandma just before the Global pandemic that sent the whole planet into quarantine. We got stranded for months and fell in love with island life, now we want to make that life more permanent.

As a filipino, Mindanao has never been in my list of must-visit place...but my oh my..views are breathtaking...should put it on my list now..Thank you Eden, Sasha, Jay and Story.

Mindanao is a beautiful place the only thing that you must avoid is getting in troubled. If you are friendly, people here are very accommodating because most of us here are bisaya. 😁
It's safe in most parts of mindanao. It is on the west and southern parts that you should be a bit wary to travel. But even there you can also travel safely with locals as guide.
I was raise and lived in mindanao until i got to work on other places. Our Mindanao is definitely on another level when it comes to nature/scenery.

Because you were all brainwashed by the news, in the early 2000s, the news (headed by Maria Ressa) was blasting Mindanao as a War Zone area or unsafe when in fact, only less than 10% of it was because of the insurgencies. We grew up here partying at the beaches till the wee hours of the morning, life has always been pretty chill here. Actually, mas nakakatakot pa nga sa Divisoria, Cubao, Guadalupe eh when I got there in 2009. It's a sad reality, because there is this divide and many Bisaya people in the big cities here dislike Tagalog because of this superior and condescending attitude towards the south. I've travelled all over the Philippines and it's pretty disappointing how many Filipinos from the North never considered traveling down South and prefer to just go abroad. Also, Siargao is in Mindanao, if you guys were not aware.

Mindanao is a magical place, there's a lot lot stunning places than Luzon or Visayas. If not for a few extremist grp which feared some tourist to teavel it would hv been one of the go to place.

Seeing this video of the family travelling by van and buying fruits alongside the roads and stopping by to see different views makes me miss my province so much more. I miss Claveria. During our college days, we visited one of the elementary schools in Claveria to teach parents about food processing using readily available fresh produce and also teach the children as part of the city campaign on good nutrition. Then after we finished the whole month of activities every week, they prepared sacks of freshly picked (big-sized) fruits and vegetables to bring home with us back in Cagayan de Oro. We are really grateful to the community there. Claveria is so blessed with such good weather and farmlands and most importantly, great people. I want to be back soon. Mindanao is beautiful!

There are seaweeds sold here in USA, but not that fresh like in the Philippines!

The seaweeds Story tasted is called LATÒ ... I saw one Filipina vloger(Lawless Family) bought that seaweed or LATÒ in UK Asian store, they labled it SEA GRAPES...
Nobody beat the fruit stands in Mindanao. Nobody! Durian, mango, mangosteen, bananas, star apple, maruya, jack fruit, ube, avocado, lanzones...
Yes and the fruits in Mindanao are very cheap. Like in my hometown in the province of North Cotabato we can buy rambutan from 12 to 18 pesos per kl.and the durian is 35 per kl mangosteen ranging from 15 to 55 per kl. But if u buy it in other places the price is double or triple already.
