I will be coming back here later in the year, there were a lot of services that weren't running during my stay here. Once I know the dates I will have it up in the community tab of my channel.
Here is some history of Manchester Piccadilly, the line from here to Hadfield used to go beyond Hadfield and the line also was part of the Great Central Main Line to London Marylebone. Since Beeching's axe the line was cut back to Sheffield Victoria and then to Hadfield in 1981 to the present day
Yeah maintenance work between Shrewsbury and Crewe so currently services that would be for Manchester are going via Chester and terminating in platform 9 at crewe replacing the Chester to crewe shuttle
10:34 I'm surprised you weren't like "oh only a 2-car" lol... You'll be pleased to know that some of the TfW 197 services in and out of MAN are now 5-car (3+2) as of the 4/11/24. Eventually, all the TfW services in and out of MAN will be 5-car, whether 197s or LHCS.
Thanks very much, I can highly recommend this station. There is always something good to see here, I will be coming back later in the year to catch the services that weren't running that day
@@Tornado922 Hi. I'm planning to go trainspotting here but to access the platforms is there ticket barriers or people there to check your ticket or can you just freeroam all the platforms? If there are do you know if Stockport is any good?
@@Usenowgamer If you go to the station reception and let them know what you want to do, they will then issue you with a pass that will let you onto the platforms
Thanks for this one at Manchester Piccadilly! My main station for four years (as well as Stockport). And, I will be back there in August next year! Btw, can tell you're not a local with the pronunciation of Buxton - it's pronounced 'Bookston'. 🙂

It's always a hive of activity at Manchester Piccadilly any day of the week! Bernie and Hutchie were the names on 150105 as they kept them on despite being repainted from the London Midland livery into the new Northern livery. Looks like Northern have 156's from East Midlands Railway now, including the former Greater Anglia units, so 158's and 170's now make up the EMR regional fleet as a result and they can be used on pretty much anything, so yes the 170's can run to and from Liverpool Lime Street as was the case yesterday actually but probably not during your entire time in Manchester. Normally you feature most stations once every year but will you come back down to Manchester Piccadilly for example again this year?
I was one of the kids who walked pass im on a train right now heading back to manchester
TPE deffo the best livery on the network.
I agree with you there
Yup you're right 👍 no disgusting yellow paint on the front of those 397s.
You mean was TPE has gone public you know
Lovely station with a fair amount of variety, most enjoyable. Many Thanks.
Thanks very much, I always enjoy coming here

Thanks very much, it's just nice to still be able to see them running around even if they aren't all that frequent

I take it Manchester Piccadilly is bigger than Liverpool Lime Street
Let’s see how many Cleethorpes service are missed out because of Strikes/ or no drivers 😂
In a word, lots haha
What's it like a Manchester Picadilly?
It's a great station to come to. Although it's much better when everything is running!
