the evidence you presented in the 2nd half was super fun lol you definitely need more things to investigate on the regular. nothing will be hidden from marines the super sleuth!
Her bio honestly just explains so well why the parts of the book that were just raw gut punches to my personal emotional stability happened cause the only thing that I knew about the author from reading the book is that she grew up chubby in purity culture.
I'm over here trying to do analysis on the names lol. They got the same number of letters, both first names start with R, Rowell starts with ROW, Morrow ends with ROW...
I hadn't even heard of Corinne before watching this but I had so much fun hearing about your sleuthing! It all makes so much sense, and I will definitely be punching the air on your behalf if your theory is ever confirmed 😆
This is like. "Guess the book from the first line" but "Guess the author from the writing habit" and I adore that haha 💕 Also this sounds like Collen Hoover version 2.0. Rainleen Bowver.
I reread Fangirl in April and kept thinking "Why is Levi (the love interest) described in such an unappealing, weird way?" and "Why are the romantic scenes so cringy?" 😂
you have convinced me of your guess (even though i dont plan to ever read corinne) and having read a few of rainbow rowell's books it makes total sense that this was a failed attempt at romance 💀💀
i caught wind of the theory that this book was written by stephanie meyer when it came out and had dismissed it because it didn't seem like her, but this video got me 1000% re-invested thank you for your service
ahhh, I am so not interested in this book, but after the livestream and the vlogs, I was interested in the mystery of it. I feel like you cracked it wide open!! I feel like you deserve to be the hero of a cozy literary mystery book series :D
I love that your impetus for probing into the identify of the author was that you needed some context for this book to make sense. That's so Marines ♥ I think you may have missed your calling as an investigative journalist!
I'm especially impressed and convinced by your Goodreads editor evidence!! 🔎 I did not know about any of this until I started seeing video thumbnails popping up; I'm relieved that it is almost certainly not written by Shannon Hale like I saw was a possibility, because I really like her 😂 ALSO if I hadn't already ditched the Rainbow Rowell train I feel like her Twilight fangirling would have done it 😬 me and my siblings always had milk with dinner growing up and we didn't know it was unusual either? but I definitely think it makes more sense for kids/teens! calcium is important lol
Well done to you and your Discord detectives!! This was a fun mystery to watch unfold. Although I might think differently if I actually had to read the book, which thankfully, you all did for us
Okay, after watching the livestream literally twice and after watching 23:55 minutes of this video, at this point is confirmation that Rainbow Rowell wrote this book and now knowing this makes me want to rewatch that livestream again for the 3rd time in a row because that was one of the most funniest things I've ever seen in my entire life and good to know that this book isn't pout pout fish fanfiction 😂 (But I'm still confused why Rainbow Rowell decided to publish this anonymous? Like, I dunno, she already wrote a gay trilogy, it's not like her normal audience I feel like is gonna attack her??? Because it's not like she's a conservative author with a fanbase that's also conservative where she would've needed to do that. Like I think you're 100% correct that it was done for *publicity* than anything else!)
I love how this turned into a full on investigation and how knowing it’s potentially Rowell makes me even less likely to want to pick up Corinne and read it but i feel like that’s not what Rowell’s going for lmao
I went into this video thinking there was no way you would convince me you figured out the author and you definitely convinced me the author is Rainbow Rowell.
Ngl as you were describing the weird stuff in Corrine it did sound like Rainbow Rowell to me. To be fair I’ve only read one of her books but the things you said are SO specific to weird stuff in Eleanor and Park. There’s no way it’s Meyer. Her writing is so confusing to follow and Rowell’s is much simpler like Corrine seems to be.
This book definitely takes place in the casserole belt of the US and is full of nostalgic casseroles. As an atheist who escaped a Christian FE cult herself, grew up in Missouri, and still struggles with sexist thoughts against my own sex, this book was triggering and haunting in ways I don't think it intended to be.
Merry-belated Xmas. This is such a pretty tree! 😍 Edit: LMAO at "imprinting" being a SM concept/tragedy/crime against humanity. bec. yes that pairing made me shout: "absolutely not"
I read Rainbow Roswell’s Carry On and gotta say… I am SHOCKED she had a professional editor review that pile. Suffice to say I did not continue with the series and am glad I got off my completionist grind years ago. Anyone who admires Stephanie Meyer isn’t someone I want to support.
I said this on Rachel's video, but omg. I thought it was literary fiction. I expected the sex to be as bad as it was, so I overlooked it and really enjoyed it. If I read this and I was expecting a romance novel, I would have roasted it with chestnuts on an open fire, ho ho ho. But I think the author is Laurie Halse Anderson.
YESS SHES BACK! My day is literally so much better when Marines uploads haha. I saw in your top books video that you enjoyed Pet by Akwaeke Emezi. There is a sequel call Bitter that is just as better as the first. I think you would enjoy it. Have a good day!
I had to look up if there was any connection between Jodi Picoult and Rainbow Rowel and the first thing I saw was that she blurbed Attachments. Not sure they’re buddies but they seem to at least rub elbows perhaps?
And I found a page from her website where she shouts out Eleanor and Park. I’m sure she blurbs books from debut authors but there’s definitely a connection between her and Rowell
ngl when i first heard the title of this book i thought it had to do with flowers in the attic and was SCARED (btw TW for literally everything if you want to look it up)
My theory is that when Read with Rachel sleeps she enters a fugue state as Rebecca Marrow as a form of dream therapy (or nightmare scenario?). Rachel is also taking out her frustrations from life by tormenting the world with the least sexy sex scenes and terrible descriptions for a dude love interest.
I’ve read Attachments and that comment about how unattractive the descriptions of the people and the steam in Corinne was…yeah. That sounds like Rainbow Rowell to me.
Makes sense, miss detective 🕵♀️. Now for the important questions...are you more into ascots or knee socks? 😉 I didn't realize Meyers and Rowell are BFF's-although they both write very poorly so it does make sense. Especially, her thinking the Edward/Bella romance was romantic. I mean there was better romantic tension and build up between Bella and Alice. An author's writing style doesn't lie. 🤷♀️ Also, Romeo and Juliette not really a Romance. 😏 Yeah, I get it. It has some flowery poems, but they BOTH die as teens. 🤨 Yeah, super romantic. 🤦♀️ Not going to read it. Rowell got me once with Attachments...yeah, not going to re-enter that little corner of he*l again, thanks. 😂
But I will say your review is spot on. In the way of “did you crawl in my head?” The repetitiveness was so bothersome. And the descriptions of his body also didn’t allow for a visual in one’s mind. It doesn’t make sense. The worst part in the end for me? Book jacket quotes from Picoult and Irby make me angry. It’s like they (or their people) read another book and the publishers used them for this book as they don’t make sense. “Ripped my heart out”? Why? Because it was so bad ultimately that it killed your love of reading?
@@mynameismarines As someone who grew up fairly fundie, I’m just curious about the way things are represented in the book and how it aligns with things I grew up believing.

This video only made me curious about the ending, haha! I'll probably read a synopsis, though. To deal with my religious trauma, I prefer Freydís Moon's erotica lmao
Lmaoo what, the male love interest is described as having beady eyes, puffy lips and a square body?? Sounds like something a non-native speaker would do. I would know, it's the kind of stuff I might have written a couple years ago when my English wasn't at its best

I would love Enoch’s POV.. 2 halves of the same trauma 😂 I wish they challenged each other’s philosophies more than the slowly okaying “permission” to be in the others life. I love men with beady eyes because the number one trait I look for in a male partner is "rat like"
Beady is the #1 word I want used around sex for sure.
A large rectangle with full lips and beady eyes, could she be describing Adam Driver?
You know who’s frequently got beady eyes? Serial killers. You know, prime partner material.
